- The Irwin Sailboat DIY Restoration Project Week 32 Episode 56 we are back on deck and full labor mode!. We are removing deck hardware, removing trim, scraping the glues and sealants, repairing and replacing core in the deck, fiberglass, fairing compound, resin, and sanding, sanding, and sanding some more. We knew this part was coming and we are tackling head on! We love our sailboat!
I love that you all are working together as a family. Even Asher has a role, no one is too little. ❤ They will remember this project for the rest of their lives! So awesome guys!

I would recommend anytime you take a screw or bolt out you enlarge the hole fill it with resin and refill. That will prevent water infiltration to the surrounding core. Great work, keep it up!

I gutted/rebuilt my Irwin 37, $100 at a time by myself. Took more than 10 years LOL. Working on a friend's 54 Irwin now! Going through same things in IRB, FL! Cheers

Do you need to put the trim back on. It would look great with out it.
We are exploring alternatives. Maybe a stainless strip to match the new stanchions??? You are thinking just go without completely?
