Oh, my! My cat's purring has helped me through tough times, especially when my wife passed in 2020. He would lay on top of where my heart is, start purring away, and those vibrations sure felt good! This morning, he came up and laid on my left shoulder before i got up, and purred loudly for nearly an hour, and when i can hear that without my hearing aids, i know thats loud! When i sit on the couch to relax for a few minutes, here he comes, hops on my lap, and is already purring. It just wouldnt be the same without him and that amazing purring!! 🐱😀😃👍👍❤❗❗

Purring is great for persons with high blood pressure. I suggested to a friend to get a lap cat. She is less stressed, which is why her blood pressure is lower.

I got my first cat, a white Persian, during a bad sleet and now storm. I got a cat because of my stressful job with a yellling boss. Well and because I always wanted a cat. I was in my 30s. First night I had the usual headache. I got on my bed and tried to sleep. Cat jumps up on the bed and places himself between top of my head and the headboard. a tight squeeze. It frightened me for a second not knowing what was going on. He started purring and my headache disappeared like magic. He used to walk around and purr. My mother and I thought this special and absolutely adorable. Fast forward 15 years. First cat dies and the grief is unbearable. I quickly get 2 cats from the rescue. One a calico 6 years old and a grey fluffy one less than 6 months old. They bonded. She purred. He rarely purred, He never meowed. 10 years later she died during the night. I found her on the floor at the base of my bed in the morning. He was up on the bed looking down at her and making a low mournful sound. After a couple of days he started purring a lot, a low purr. Then a few weeks later finally meowed to communicate. I guess she did all the talking for them both.

My cat, Peanut, is an orange and white tabby cat with white booties on his feet and white mittens on his front paws and a white spot on his nose, where all the kisses go. He follows me everywhere, comes to find me when he wakes up if I am not in the same room. He is so much more special than any of my previous cats. My 33 year old son just sawcPusd in Boots, and I cried at the sad parts. I have 6 sons, and they ask me, what are you going to do when Peanut dies? He is 11 years old, has asthma...gets a shot of steroid to control it, but I will be completely devastated when he dies. My heart goes out to you for the loss of your cat. I have a cat that is currently on the mend from illness. And he's been purring a bit, not only to show his appreciation for my giving him a lot of TLC, but maybe also to help him heal! So far it seems to be working! He's improving gradually!😻💕

On Dec. 29th we had one of our five month old kittens to do a door dash. He or the others had never done this before. We looked and looked all day but wasn't able to find him. We put a litter box and food outside to try to keep him in the area. The next day we found him and brought him back inside. You could just look at him and he would start purring, he purred all evening and we were just as happy.
My blind kitty knows when I’m sick and will always lie down on me purring more loudly than usual. It’s like she’s trying to soothe me and it’s so relaxing 🐱😍
Sometimes I think that we can be too analytical. I’ve been very blessed to have been chosen by a number of feline companions over the years. I have benefitted enormously from their purring. Suffering from bi-polar, there are often times when human communication is just too much, but the presence of a purring cat is both comforting and therapeutic. Thank you to all feline friends - life would certainly be poorer without you!
My big cat Buddy would lay next to me as we both went to sleep. He would be purring away then take a deep breath and then go quietly to sleep. I always found it comforting and made falling asleep easier for me. Purr therapy.

We have 4 cats, all with different purrs, and a whole range of vocal sounds. I was wondering if this vid would talk about cats trilling - that meow+purr. 3 of our cats have a wide variety of trilling sounds. The 4th one is a ginger female (odd to begin with), and she mostly just yells - lol. She's also boss cat so perhaps feels it unnecessary to do anything beyond (loud) purrs or (annoying) yowls. Thank you so much - fascinating presentation! And yes, a purring cat is such an awesome stress reliever!

Purring can induce healing. I find that the most interesting, the cats always seem like they are very relaxed when purring. So yes I can well believe it. Cats are so great I can’t help but love them….

I can completely confirm purring to be a pain relief. If my head hurts and a cat presses against it purring, it quickly becomes a lot less uncomfortable. I know one cat who also purrs a lot upon running into things and bonking his head.
One of the most common uses of purring is actually not mentioned here. The cats who purr because they know how adorable it sounds, and they know someone will pet them. Mine does that frequently. He'll walk up and purr at me until he gets petted, then when he has cuddles, he'll just purr louder and grin at me.

Playing the Australian digeridoo creates vibrations that sooth the player. This makes sense that we share that trait despite being unable to purr ourselves.
I bought a didge from an Austrailian site that rates certain didges as Healing Didges... I bought one, it was tuned to G. There are people using didges as therapy for other people, like directing the drone over an afflicted area of the body. And RE cats, I have had two friends with broken bones who said their cats lay beside the broken arm or leg and purred and they felt it was a healing experience. Interesting video and concepts here! I've been interested in vibrational therapy for many many decades.
Larynx of cougar goes both directions like a house cat, meanwhile leopards can go only one direction.
Does that mean a cougar can purr? I thought that cheetahs were the only big cat that could purr. Wow and meow 🐈
@@stever3658 yes, they do purr; I’ve heard them do it at a zoo. Once upon a time they were named felis concolour, and house cats name felis catus; but long story short cougars are closer related to domestic cats than tigers, lions, and leopards.
Friend of mine from Aruba lived in Leuden for a couple of years, and while there he was adopted by a street cat that he eventually took back to Aruba. Anyway, while he was on his way to work at the bank he was with at the time, another person at the train station he commuted from struck his leg with a heavy suitcase and broke his leg. He told me in live chat onevevening that his cat, Boomer, was insisting on sleeping next to the fracture and was worried about it. I told him, let the cat stay. His purring, which Jeanrick did confirm Boomer did while curled up by the fracture, would aid in healing. And, oddly, the fracture healed a lot faster than his doctor figured it would.
So, yeah.
And my Maine coon I had for 16 years, I satcqith her while she fave birth to her only litter, and purred constantly through her entire labor.
As I posted above to Serafin Magic's post, I have had two friends report the same experience... cats laying alongside a broken limb and purring, and the injured person feeling that it was a healing experience! The first use of vibrational therapy that I heard of back in the seventies, was for hastening the healing of broken bones.
Watching this while my youngest is purring and knitting her little heart out on the side of my head 😂

I had a cat who had lived to the age of 17. Joseph was ill and declining in health. At the vet, he was shaking in fear. Suddenly, he started purring the loudest, most frantic purr I’d ever heard from him. It broke my heart. He passed about a month later, peacefully at home. Our 11 year old girls, Allison and Alina, are very different. Alina purrs a lot, but Allison doesn’t. If Allison purrs, you don’t hear it, but you feel it. Conversely, you can hear Alina purr from across the room! LOL!!!! Cats are amazing! Thank you for the video!

Reminds me of how Om and other mantras are thought to have similar healing or other benefits due to their sound (frequency). I did not really take it very seriously till I came across information on cats purring

My beloved Purrr- babies many times purr when they know that I need loving support!
One of the Best instances: I wasn't feeling very well so I decided to lay down a bit!
My Awesome Babies layed themselves around me in this fashion
1) My Angelique ( Sphynx/daughter)
Layed on my stomach( this was a constant with her and Me)
2) Ripley( American Short hair very loving)layed on My Under Arms Right side
3) Varick my very opinionated son( siamise) layed on My Arms Left side
4) Willow( Orange tabby sweet boy) layed next to Me on My Right side leg
5) lastly My Shannon ( opiniated/ sweet)
Layed next to My left leg lower side
Only Angelique completely layed on Me
But Ripley put his head under my arm...
Varick partly layed on Me...
Willow& Shannon more so next to Me let having contact!

When I had a heart condition, my cat slept with me every night along my body, with his head on my shoulder or on my chest on the left side purring all the night, as if he knew that my heart needed healing. And to my doctor's surprise, my recovery was much faster than anticipated! And the cat was all black.
“We still don’t understand what happens in the brain….” I didn’t hear the rest of that sentence because I bust out laughing. Happens pretty much every time I hear the words “cat” and “brain” in the same sentence.
Siamese Lucy would purr me awake most mornings, knowing that I could not resist her, regardless of how tired I was. She would make the rounds, trying to awaken everyone, until someone got up and fed her. I miss those mornings with purring Lucy Cat.

I searched up the video as I recently came across a friendly kitten, he/she came up to me as I called. As I picked him/her up, he/she wrapped the arms around my neck and started rubbing the head against my chin. As this was going on there was constant purring.
My two cats are very friendly to anyone who visits me. They'll rub and purr for them to pet them.

My vet informed me a cat can either purr or roar, but it cannot do both.
lol my boy has 3 different purrs, a soft purr , when he's happy a medium loud purr when he wants something like food or play time and a really loud purr if i've ignored him or made him wait too long then he'll start sucking on my face because i hate it and it gets immediate responce.
