- There is an easy fix to your jeep not filling with gas and the pump automatically turning off. You need to get underneath your jeep and gently tap on the bottom of the gas tank with a small hammer. The trick is to just tap on the bottom of the jeep fuel tank until you can fill the tank with gas.
Jeep has been having lots of issues with their vehicles not filling with gas because the pump automatically turns off. They’re seems to be an evap issue in the fuel tank system. Someone found out a small hack to allow the jeep to fill with gas without the pump turning off.

I have had this problem with my 2012 Jeep patriot. I just tried this trick and it worked! Thank you for spreading the word
rock on!
DUDE spit it out!
I know, 2 mins, of him,... and like, so what you do is, so here is the issue, because see this dude posted it, and literally people are being towed, because of this issue.
Just talked to the dealership about this they said it’s not a known issue. That’s complete bs they’re should be a recall for this this so dumb
Jeep has a wide range of issues after owning one for three years, I’m tired of replacing and fixing parts on the weekends. Past two fill ups has done the clicking bs, saw this hack video before listening to your video, in a weeks time I will try the tap method and see if it works or not! Bout ready to go to jeep dodge Chrysler and tell them their vehicles are pos!
My 2013 Dart had this problem, I went underneath the car and hit underneath the fuel tank, and now I can put fuel back in. There is a ball check valve that sticks, and it jars the ball lose by hitting the tank near the fill tube. I have no idea how long this will work.
If it still has the issue just keep filling it, but make sure you hold down the fuel pump trigger half way. It is an issue with the EVAP system. It’s when the gas can get enough air and it gurgles the fuel back up. Think of it as a water bottle flipped upside down trying to get the water out.
Ok so in reality it is safer. First world problems
Im having this problem and im guessing its related to my evap system issue. Replaced solenoid, and purge valve canister, then found another leak in my fuel neck filler tube which i cant replace because its on national back order. Im hoping some simple taps will at least fix my problem of filling up gas.
Wow, just tapped the hose on my 2014 trailhawk at tank entrance with a metal handle and it worked. I initially watched the referenced video and found this as a second opinion. My kinda fix!
You have to do it every time you pump gas?
@@ljcruz6969i would also like to know this
this didnt work for me.... so replace evap system?
I got a 2019 grand Jeep Cherokee you can put it on the low click and it works but going to try to fix it might be back
Just purchased a jeep and I have such a hard time putting gas in it it 🤦♀️
Yeah and when it’s done filling up the gas pours out lol
What is pump auto shot off can someone explain it to me?
So does he have to do this everytime he fills up or is it one and done? Just couldn’t see this solving the issue permanently just doing this once. However, I haven’t watched the dudes video yet. I will say it’s not so much of an issue that leaves me stranded anywhere, but enough of a problem I avoid going to particular stations for gas if I can help it. (Little generals are the absolute WORST!) Makes no sense but I don’t have this issue at every station. I’ve noticed too, if you squeeze the trigger all the way, that’s when it’s gonna shut off. So at the stations where I have the issue, I’ve been seriously barely pulling the trigger where it is pumping so slowly. idk about anyone else, but I don’t have time for that! So I already have the issue of my tank being on the opposite side than most, and if there’s only a couple of pumps having to back up in there, or be the asshole that pulls up headlight to headlight where they have to back out, but you also have to spend 25 minutes trying to fill up your tank, which isn’t a large tank. I’ve owned 2 jeep renegades now (in green) and I absolutely love my trailhawk more than anything, but getting gas should not be such a hassle. Literally can walk to a station from my house, and it’s one I make a point not to get gas at unless I have plenty of time to slowly pump.
Going thru this issue now so going to try this.
Just got my 2016 Jeep SRt and it’s having this issue. Will give it a try😢
The hammer trick doesn’t work on Wranglers. It’s surrounded by a steel skid plates
What’s should I do then bc I have a year 2000 2 door manual jeep weangler
@@elisdee7886 i replaced the evap cannister on my 2013 jeep. That worked for about a year, then replaced it again when it started again. Jeeps suck! I have 3 of them all wranglers all little idiotic issues but we love the lifestyle in summer
There's no canister?.. that's usually the problem...
Reaction videos are a waste of bandwidth and this one maybe more than most.
Check valve in tank
What? Like every full up? Or like once? This really doesn’t make sense.
Didn't work for me
I tried it and didn’t work 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
happened with my 2018 Renegade
Man I just got a 2018 renegade and I was getting annoyed by it
This happened to me last night at the gas station that's why I am here. I have a jeep compass 2021
