  • I had a fantastic time designing and building a wine cellar for a spare room in our basement. I built the wine racks from scratch and installed Lowe's SmartCore Pro Luxury Vinyl plank to complete the room. I learned a ton and gained more confidence in woodworking. Enjoy!

    I cannot believe the amount of work you put into this. It is so beautiful. You used your high school math skills in ways that I could not have imagined. Just designing such a complex project is beyond my powers of imagination. I am so proud of you.

    Nice job! FYI, there is a simple jig you can build over the fence that would have helped supporting the panel when cutting the plywood angle

    Very nice job and informative video also. I don't know any women who would be interested in doing this type of work and not many men that could do it! I finished a smaller project recently since I didn't have as much room available and it's quite a bit of work and cutting on the table saw but well worth it.

    Nice job! This room setup is similar to the basement room we have set aside for wine storage. Would you have any wood data (types, dimensions, etc) that you could share? Thanks

    This is so cool, well done! Wow!
    Did you use any insulation in the walls and what kind of cooler system did you install? I’m from SoCal so refrigeration is priority.

    • @katcan7085
      @katcan7085  Před 3 lety +1

      The room is in a basement, so temp is usually ok. For humidity, we use a hygrometer to measure and run a humidifier as needed.

    This seems like such a fun project. Thank you for sharing the process with us. Can I ask? What did you use for a vapor barrier to prevent mold build-up in the walls? I'd also be curious about what you're using for a cooling unit? Thank you for sharing!

    • @katcan7085
      @katcan7085  Před rokem

      Sorry for the late response. The room was already designed as an additional bathroom so it had green board. At this point we haven't added a cooling unit because, to be perfectly honest, we don't buy super expensive wine. We keep the good bottles we DO buy in the little wine fridge in the bottom right corner.

    • @katcan7085
      @katcan7085  Před rokem

      Hey There. thanks! No, we never did put a climate controller in as we just don't buy expensive enough wine to warrant it at this time.

  • @firelizarddesigns
    @firelizarddesigns Před 2 lety

    Awesome build! For the wine part upper portion, do you mind sharing the height between the rows and is that 1x1 used to help stabilize the bottles

  • @ztrinx1

    Really nice build and video. Enjoyed it.
    What did you do for humidity and temperature control?

    • @katcan7085
      @katcan7085  Před 3 lety

      It is in a basement, so the temp is generally acceptable down there. For now, we have a hygrometer to monitor the humidity and run a humidifier as needed. Eventually we will install an actual system, but we kept it simple for now.

    What did you use for material?

    • @katcan7085
      @katcan7085  Před 3 lety +1

      Select pine for the majority and 3/4” plywood for the rest. The bar top is also select pine, but I may revise that at some point. Thanks for the comment!

    Nice design. How are you controlling the room’s temperature?
    As a side note, please never ever do that table saw trick again! Kickback is extremely dangerous, even though you positioned yourself out of the way

    • @katcan7085
      @katcan7085  Před rokem

      We are not as we don't typically buy super expensive wine. It is in a basement, so it generally stays cooler down there anyhow, and we have all the heating vents turned off. For the good wine we DO buy, we place it in the little wine fridge in the bottom right corner of our cellar.
