"many people criticized Franco's dead eyed perfomance" can be applied to any Franco movie
Couldn't +1 on the phone so here you go!
Dr Zaius at the end is a good twist. "WHAT A TWIST".
That Sixth Sense bit cracks me up everytime!
Hey! Mr. Sunday Movie. You must be stoked!! You hit 10,000 subscribers in like a month and a half! Just wanted to say CONGRATS! Love your podcasts and videos.
Thanks man! Yeah I'm pretty stoked, seeings as the first time I did it it took me three years. Appreciate the support mate, have a super cool week.

***** hey, here's a good theory for the Burton reboot. from what we've seen, whoever goes into thee wormhole goes one direction in time, and the next person goes to a different point in time. so, after Leo went to earth in his time, I'm guessing that thade found one of the pods on the Oberon, and led the apes to the 1800's (explaining the Lincoln like memorial). the apes took over and took the earth. then Leo returned and that's the future he saw.
+Mr Sunday Movies Love your work......and your sense of humour. keep it up👍

I like how the stand-in on the right (in purple) stares straight in to the camera haha :)
So the first movie has a whole lot of nearly naked Charlton Heston. Not the greatest body but none the less boy was he not shy about flaunting it in that movie. So you'd think for the remake Tim Burton hired Marky Mark for his bod. I mean the guy up until that point was known as a rapper (I use the term loosely) and for flogging Calvin Klein undies. He certainly seems incongruous to the kind of actor Burton usually works with. Yet Marky Mark suddenly went all shy and flashed about as much flesh as Mother Teresa. Which leads me to believe that the 6-pack-abs poster boy Marky Mark actually considered the PotA remake a chance to show off his acting instead of his pecks? Poor misguided guy
WOAH GLENN WEBB IS HERE, I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS, ESPECIALLY THE COMPARISONS
Great, thanks for watching!
i guess I'm quite randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream newly released series online?
My goodness. This video is 10 years old this year. Im currently rewatching the recent trilogy in preparation for kingdom. They very good! Its strange they dont get much praise. Anyway, looking forward to kingdom
I cannot believe you predicted that Mephisto will appear in "The Marvels"
I love all of them... except the Tim Burton one.
Pierre Boulle writing Planet of the Apes: this was my worst work....
Pierre Boulle writing Planet of the Men: hold my Cab Franc...

Mr Sunday you're so EPIC! Love all your podcasts!
2:57 my brother makes that grin.

"Wait a second... that's brilliant!" looool
love dat ending.
Love ur profile pic.
Your really funny man plus the "wait a minute......Thats Brilliant!!!!!!!!" got ms.Nice!
thanks for saving me the trouble at the end
Lol that ending
Before I get to my main comment, I would like to say that Mr Sunday Movies is phenominal. Easily the best guy on CZcams. I was gonna say tho, about Rise of the Planet of the Apes, did anyone else feel that it was just a ripoff of Deep Blue Sea? They are both about big companies trying to cure alzheirmers, led by a black guy, which experiment on animals, making them as smart as humans, who then lead a violent revolt in an attempt to escape to freedom. I liked the original Planet of the Apes series more, and they ruined that line for me by having Malfoy say "get your paws off me you damn dirty apes". Just thought I'd share my thoughts
Will you do a Top Ten Things You Missed In Marvel Studios' Celebrate the Movies video? I know you are.
I never knew that was Charlton Heston in the Tim Burton movie... I may give that movie another watch sometime.
Top stuff bro! Just wondering, I listen to all the pod-casts and you always say to get in on the chat through twitter... are there any other ways to submit my views etc.? like on the website of something?
Sure! The comicbookmovie.com website thing or with me and Mason on twitter. His address is @wikipediabrown, he loves a chat.
and James would go on to play that amazing video game with all those graphics he loved!
omg the ending
Will you be doing your Sunday news soon?
there is a timeline book sold on Amazon mentions every referrence and some fan-based time line stories from prehistoric earth to year 5000 AD all of the movies, TV series, 1975 Animaition, and much of the comic book series Y2K Walberg movie reference, comic book future stories references, Hell, even the video game is mentioned with "Sophie" and "Ulysses" as well as Martienez and Romulas, astronaut launch backstory, but no Pierre Boulle references at all, that was the whole point! Pierre Boulle started the need to make the Rod Serling 1968 movie. before going ape and writing a fan fic about timelines and chronicles, GO APE READ THE BOOK!!!
my god does this feel fuckin' old
i'd say may 2024 is a damn good time to be a planet of the apes fan ✌
Hello, Mr. Sunday Movies, you're a pretty cool dude. And this is is a pretty cool video. Pretty rad!
Wow thank you it is!
Mr. Sunday, more like Mr. Good Videos. Nice.
I definitely gotta check out the original PotA movies.
I made it through 3 minutes of the review and I'm going to say something as an older man. It kind of slays me when certain reviewers go on rants about " good for it's time but... " and then try and find everything and anything to slag off about a film or a series. The fact that this series is 50 plus and that a lot of young people are finding and appreciating the literate nature of the material, speaks volumes. The fact that 'you' are reviewing to get an instant audience, then manipulating that to try and sound like you know better, speaks to itself. Appreciate- don't appreciate. But find something better to do with you time to try and degrade simply to elevate your opinion of your own taste. You may find yourself in a minority of 1,223. And if I can say one thing (and you may want to simply do the old fart shit- which my generation did not)- history and people who contributed 'brilliantly in their time and space', are not to be devalued by 'talkers'. What resonates and lasts does so because it was done with hands, minds, hearts and souls that CARED. They gave a shit not only about their time- but about what the future generations might face if they didn't show some balls. This series was made by people who cared. Each consecutive sequel was given less and less, and rather than rip the audience off, they threw their talents and minds and reflections of politics, philosophy, religion, spirit and the balls to play the dark ending to scare you into caring. They didn't churn shit out to cop a buck. In future- review because you understand what you have watched and not simply because you are trying to be clever. You fail on that front and PLANET OF THE APES deserves better.
The franchise is a classic and the makeup holds up EXTREMELY well considering its 50 years old. Whoever was in change of that should have won an award
John Chambers did. The Academy of Arts and Sciences created a special award for the 1968 ceremonies and Walter Mathau presented it to him. Remarkable work and you're right- it still holds up today- especially the first films work- it took 4 hours to apply and they had to tone it down- it was brutal on the actors so they honed it to three hours from Beneath on.
*****
Wow lol. Apparently the actor playing Cornelius didn't want to wait for removal so he drove home with the makeup sometimes lol
This seems a pretty extreme response to a video that said almost entirely positive things about the original film.
And OF COURSE they always churned out shit just to make a buck. That's why the fantastic original was followed by inferior sequels.
DOCTOR ZAYUS DOCTOR ZAYUS
dino seen um what about him
Can you do a caravan of garbage on the planet of the apes video game?
Richard Zanuck was Fired by 20th Century Fox for giving the green light to movies that failed at the Box Office, so his instructions for the ending of the film was....blow up the planet, maybe Charlton Heston requested that to happen, but Zanuck ordered it to happen after they decided to go with a more upbeat ending.
Most of the films could take place in a single continuity (Although alternate realities... if that makes sense.)
Caesar is created in a lab. Let's be honest. The grandfather paradox shit in the originals makes no sense. "The talking apes exist in the present BECAUSE they exist in the future." No.
The originals. Charlton Heston, nuke detonation, Zira and Cornelius go back in time, Caesar grows up, yadda yadda.
Tim Burton atrocity. Mark Wahlberg leaves. Several centuries or millennia later...
Live action TV series.
And I'm not familiar enough with the cartoon to put that in. And I know each series is really a new continuity, but whatever.
this video is awesome myfav was the first one
What was the name of the youtube video that redubbed Dragonball Z you talked about in the weeklypodcast?
Could of been Dragon Ball Z Abridged by TeamFourStar
+The Galactic Empire on CZcams
My are your videos on my Xbox out of order than on my phone
Nice
Love the original and its sequels. Some say that it really has no place in today's genre. but it pretty much defined the genre in it's day. The Burton film is actually really good even with its problems. Loved it when Heston appeared as an ape. And possibly the most attractive I have ever seen Helena Bonham Carter. Is it weird I find HAC more attractive in ape form than her usual junky burnout, homeless person style? What ever. Looking forward to seeing the new film regardless.
Dat ending doe
I always click LIKE on these videos because I feel like Mr. Sunday Movies will come after me if I don't :S
You are right. I'm always watching.
***** lol
+Mr Sunday Movies lol
I kind of like them all to be honest, even the bad ones are oddly entertaining.
Planet of the apes 2001 ending was taken from a kevin smith comic book on jay and silent bob. It was meant as a joke by Kevin and his co-writer to have it at the end of one of their issues that jay and silent ended up on a planet of apes at the end and instead of abe it was a giant monkey instead. Kevin made it as a joke but someone at the studio probably made the writer's write it in even though it was originally a joke. Tim Burton said he didn't steal that ending and thr studio said they didn't steal it but smiths comic came out sometime before the film was made......
Please
All parts name
Dat endin' thou.
dat game doe
1:03 - Uhh, what exactly's going on in this scene?
its the 9th film
In the third movie how did they get to earth
dont ask
oh the video game was sarcasm
I still find it weird that I've seen every Planet of the Apes film from the 60s and 70s. Why did I watch them? IDK but I became a huge fan of them even the shitty sequels. The acting was insane. I still haven't seen the James Franco one because I hate reboots. I saw the 2001 movie but I was 12 at the time and I thought it was dumb and that Congo was better... remember Congo!?
Cameron Robinson I probably is I just avoid reboots all together though. Kinda lame I know but they annoy me lol
Your "I just avoid reboots all together" generalizing bullshit attitude is what annoys me. You are missing out on the greatest movie franchise reboot of all time. Yes, even better than Nolan's Batman trilogy. These new films are doing to the Heston films what Guns and Roses did for Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door.". A whole new generation is now enjoying the premise of Ape domination as we once did. The source material is treated with respect and even veneration, as well as being greatly improved upon with original concepts. Open your mind, friend.
What reboots have you seen? Many are bad, but you are robbing yourself of two very solid films in Rise and Dawn. That's a shame.
sherlockinsomniac Idgaf bruh lulz haha
By watching reboots I am supporting them. I have no love for movies that already exist being made all over again. Meh. Sorry if you don't agree with it.
I hate 'm all, too damn depressing!
The 1968 one is still the best, but Rise isn't that far behind
Schwing idk about that one I mean the ending is iconic
Schwing but yeah you kind of right
After having now watched maybe 20 'Planet of the Apes History' vids, this is the first one I have seen that thinks that the amazingly bad TimBurton reboot has a single thing to do with the 2011 reboot. I am not quite sure how you came to that conclusion.
In Tim's movie the apes get super smart after the Station crashes on the planet. That alone makes it a 'stand alone', and in all likelihood, the worst series reboot in the history of all reboots . I did enjoy your review though....
*SPOILER*
So war for the planet of the apes takes place before planet of the apes because in "war" the humans are being infected by a disease that takes away the ability to speak, much like the humans in planet of the apes. Apes get smarter humans get dumber.
Lobotomised 😂
shits outdated as fuck
