- Howdy! I built some Outdoor Privacy Screens for a client with a chevron pattern and in this video I show you how you can do it too! I used pressure treated wood, cedar fence pickets, galvanized hardware and exterior stain to ensure a long life! #privacyscreen #diy #landscapedecor

Went through dozens of CZcams videos looking for ideas for a privacy screen/fence for my deck. I found it. Awesome job, thanks!!!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching and happy building! 🙌🍊
The first half of the czcams.com/users/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
I have a tutorial on my website. Link in description. 🍊
wow...those look fantastic.....I think I might switch over to this design as I had a different scenario in my brain BUT it was a lot more work, money and wood. Very nice
Thank you so much! Good luck on your project! 🍊

I am trying to figure out wind breaks in my back yard that look interesting as the Garden is big but very windy. This gave me a better vision of what could be done both for the Wind and look good. Thanks

you all prolly dont care but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?
I somehow lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Jose Peter Instablaster ;)
@Baker Colton i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Baker Colton it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account!
Totally Cool Design and looks like you had a blast doing this project...First Time Subscriber (@2022)
Thanks! 🍊
Nice work! Are you a self-taught carpenter? Your skills are impressive. (I just tinker at my house doing odd jobs, but would love to learn to create more.) Very helpful video!!
Thanks! And yes… all self taught. Lots of trail and lots of error, but you can make anything you really want to. 🍊
@@TheAwesomeOrange That is amazing!! Gives me hope. Thanks again 😊
Nice offcuts :D
Fabulous!! One question ... do you have to put them in cement like fence posts??
Thanks. Yes you would have to set them like normal fence posts.
Great job. Was wondering if you had any DIY ideas for a pool enclosure thats already screened in, but still visible to the neighbors. There is only a 5 ft white ugly PVC fence bordering the outside of the enclosure and I'd like to gain more privacy above that sight line.
Thanks. Hard to say without seeing it. Good luck.
@@TheAwesomeOrange I already started and it's coming out really good. Horizontal slats, starting 4 ft off the ground. 4 in wide, 1 inch thick to the width of 3 feet which gives a floating privacy screen on my side. On their side 2 ft of the screen is visible which is perfect from their angle without being ugly to their view. Stained the same ebony brown color as the aluminum screen frame. I have part of it done but it looks good so far. I will post a video for your critique.
Ok. Here is a quick video.
czcams.com/video/UVZoIMjikQQ/video.html
It's a few spliced into one so i dubbed over the voice with some music. You can see how close each house is to the other and it's a problem with privacy. It's partially done because it takes so much time to personally select each board. Waiting for Home depot to restock their 4x1 pressure treated.
Nice her
Love this!! About how much would this project cost to do?
Thanks! I don’t recall off hand but I do have more details my my blog, link in the description. 🍊
Trying to build this! For the connectors, I was confused on which hole I put the screw in. When trying to install, my 2x4 ends up cracking because the screen head takes up alot of space 😒
Predrilling can help with the 2x4’s cracking. 🍊
I went to your blog, but did not see the dimensions. Can you post a link to where I can find them? Looking to add this to my deck but want to see how many I will need to cover the 20ft side
Adam Jacobs The link is in the description of this video. To get the plans there is a pop up that you put your email address into and then you get the plans. 🍊
Thanks! I will have to try on my laptop, the pop up doesn’t pop up when I open it with my phone :)
Dear Orange Machine,
How critical are the center cross supports? And, I've watched some others but at 30°. At 30°, I'm looking at a total span of 10 feet. Too much?
The center supports are critical and they give you something to mail the slats to. Not sure on the 30 degree thing. Happy building! 🍊
Do you need a permit to build a privacy screen? My fence (6 feet) is not tall enough so been wanting to make some privacy screen but now sure if it’s allowed if you already have 6 feet tall fences.
Great question.... every city is different so I’d check with them. But if it is on your side of the fence I personally think you should be good as long as it is crazy high. 🍊
Do you have another video of you installing them? Did you pour concrete for the legs?
I don’t, because my client installed them. But yes they would need to be installed with concrete or they would probably eventually fall over. 🍊
These are so cool! I am in need of some privacy and this is such a awesome looking option! Sub from me 😁
Awesome thank you so much! 🙌🍊
It looks great but you sure wasted a lot of cedar . Maybe you should have gotten sizes closer to what you needed for the job.
I was going to say something similar - why not just have them be wider? The backyard definitely had the space. If you're charging a customer, that's one thing, but for yourself, I would be more economical with the product.
Thanks. I built them the size my client wanted. Plus, I save my scraps and will use them on another project. I try to have as little waste as possible. 🍊
These were for a client. And most of the excess has already been used on another project! 🍊
I wish I had the materials to make my privacy screen
When you do, I’d live to see a pic if the finished project. 🍊
How many bags of cement per panel? Guessing two for each post?
I didn’t install these. But that sounds about right. Generally the concrete brand has a calculator on their website to help give you an idea based on the size of the holes. 🍊
can i use these as fences?
Sure! Just have to add cross supports between the segments. 🍊
Love it by a female too, great job
How do you put in the ground?
You dig post holes and fill it with concrete. 🍊
@@TheAwesomeOrange bugger. I was hoping to skip digging into the incredibly hard Texas rock.
Are you in tucson?
No, the Phoenix area. 🍊
The screens are nice, but I don't get why your client installed them where they did... seems like a waste.
Haydur A Thanks! They were for decor and to add privacy from the two story house behind her. 🍊
Looks like she was blocking the view from a neighbouring double story house on the left of her garden where she had a tree or shrub that wasn't doing the job and then she just put one in on the other side to make it uniform
The link for Simpson Strong-Tie needs to be fixed.
Thank you so much for pointing that out... it is fixed!
6:30 what a waste of wood
