- This review is on the Made in USA LED flashlight from Surefire. This model is the E2D LED Defender Ultra. It is very well made, has high quality materials, and a high price tag to go with it! But, it is a nice flashlight, regardless of the price.

I have this light I use the hell out of it worth every penny.
It looks like Cloud Defensive is coming for Surefire’s lunch.
The Surefires are made well. Been carrying one for about 6 years. No complaints.
Those are good buttttt surefire has already created a huge fan base there is a lot of die hard surefire fans they will never go out of Business
Cloud is doing some awesome stuff but brands like Surefire have such a heritage of making stonebuilt tools that they are secure in the market. I trust them because they are the best IMHO. Many departments and the military gave trusted Surefire for a long time
I know people complain about the price, but in have two Surefire lights and they are tanks, work well and over all very good.
It is waterproof down to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Also, CR123a cells have many advantages. They can work in temperatures that no other batteries can work in and hold their charge in storage for a long time without starting to corrode. They also are super lightweight and have a lot of power. Surefire makes great lights but I always carry my Elzetta Bravo. The Z Line of modular flashlights from Elzetta are so much more durable than Surefire. They are waterproof INSIDE and out and are significantly more impact resistant thanks to their fully potted electronics that Surefire doesn't have. They are also modular with interchangeable parts like their 1 inch thick user replaceable solid acrylic optical lens (and the list of advantages goes on). I like my Surefire lights but they just don't come close to matching the quality and durability of my Elzetta Bravo B331. An Elzetta Bravo only costs a tiny bit more but blows Surefire and other brands out of the water.
Great video please keep posting more there is little to no info on these amazing surefire lights!!! Especially older discontinued surefires!!! Thank you so much for going into depth with it also! May I suggest doing this for Elzetta flashlights also these is little to no info on the older and new models
I see a lot of comments saying these are expensive. They are but not to be confused with overpriced. Some place a premium on quality, durability and origin. These folks don't carry or own lights that have labels with names such as Olight, Fenix, Streamlight or any of the other Chinese sourced brands. And this Surefire isn't particularly pricey on the EDC flashlight spectrum. In the end you only have to carry and depend on one light. Buy right.
$250 is crazy expensive. Who is buying this stuff? I can pay my gas and electric this month or I can buy a flashlight.
Me
buy used, half the price- shit is not worth 250 anyway
For those who use this for duty or serious uses, its a buy once cry once item to have the best for life. Plenty of people have and still use Surefire lights made 10, 15, and even 20 years ago. $250 for a light you can use and rely on for 20 years is a great value.
@@votpavel I just had the chance to buy it used in good condition for 140. For me its still to expensive for what it is. I just bought a new Olight Warrior Mini 3 for 65. You get so much more for your money.
@@Gieszkanne if you just using it around the house then sure but for usung it at work or somewhere i would get a surefire, idk if new surefires are exclusively made overseas now or still in us, older olights i have were abit finicky wit leds going out in varely used light to buttons functioning badly when pressed
Bought a Surefire in 2009 while serving in Iraq when they were still using the non-led bulb. The bulb overheated and blew out. Tossed the light in the trash. Best light i ever bought lol
I have seen a review of the G2X 200 Lumen LED version from an Iraq vet. He also had it in Iraq and over 10 years but its still working.
I still have my original incandescent G2(what the police carried) and The original E2 Defender, they still work but they aren’t half as bright as when I bought them 15 years ago. Are there any LED conversion kits? Even though I don’t like paying for the 123a batteries i’d be interested in modifying one.
They make drop in led conversion for older models
@@6atlantis There are cheap LED dropins on ebay or aliexpress but also expensive us made from Malkoff.
You can also use a 16650 lithium ion battery as well.
This is why people buy Chinese knockoffs. Brought a few off the big A for pocket change and they work very well.
For anyone that would pay $224 for thus flashlight would not be worried about the cost of batteries. If they are rechargeable why does it matter?
This light probably doesn't support rechargeable 123 batteries. Some lights just won't
This light is ridiculously overpriced and it can't use a rechargeable stick. People still buy these ligjts..makes no sense. $224 for a light that uses disposable batteries? Pass
Surefire has priced me out of their products unfortunately.....Im a Streamlight guy i guess , back to work tomorrow.
Did I miss you mention the price?
At the end of the video he put the price across the bottom, $250
@@timrobinson6573 thanks, I did miss it.
That's a nice flashlight, but very pricey lol
Does this have a strobe mode? Great video btw!
Thank you. This one has different brightness levels but not strobe.
Does the beam have that star shape to it from the bezel shape?
No
Surefires are all overpriced imo. No light should cost as much as a gun
Been around a long time and always been overly expensive.
They are good but totally overpriced. And for that 240$ it doesnt even has a steel bezel ring.
True but somebodies noggin meat doesnt know the difference between aluminum vs steel if they get clobbered with it
Id buy it awaiting a tan g2x which im.goin to get the thyrm.switchback for, gonna be my part of my emergency kits
