  • Take a ride on ToT back in the early days, 1994 to be exact. This is version 1 of the ride and you get some decent video here of the queue, pre-show, and ride. Enjoy!

    Oh wow, the short-lived ending video of Rod Serling through the TV static is shown in full here, that’s amazing. I’m going to have to include this in my Tower of Terror website.

    The spark sounds coming from the sign are quite audible in this video and something I wish they would fix. It provided a lot more immersion. (This isn't the same as the actual spark effects that were shut off due to fire hazards)

    i was obsessed with the lore of this ride. the anticipation of seeing it in real life and from the interstate because it was so tall ! i first went to WDW maybe in 92, and it was announced but not open. Anyway, the next time i was there it was open and i persuaded my dad to go on. i was all big and tough in the line but boy, when we went to the top i absolutely shit my pants and cried haha my dad teased me so much afterwards and of course i denied i was scared. didnt take him up on the offer to ride it again though haha the guy next to me was huge and i was tiny, i went flying out my seat on the drop because the lap bar was miles above my legs, it was so scary. but to this day i still love the building the ride the music the atmosphere, i live in japan now and the one here is still awesome but i hope one day i get to ride this one again ! i hope they never turn it into the abomination that they turned it into in califronia !

    The good old lap bar! I was a cast member in the 90s and we girls would always want to sit next to tall guys with long legs so that when the bar was lowered there would still be a large gap to our laps. We could practically stand up straight on the drop. Even more so once there were more drops per ride. Probably not the safest idea but we were young and it was fun!

      when i first rode this i was only 11, a skinny little rake. The guy next to me was pretty hefty and the bar was about 6 inches above my lap. i literally went flying out of my seat and my dad had to keep pulling me back down haha it was actually terrifying lol

      I remember the lap bar! There was only one seat with a seatbelt and I think it was just the back center seat, which I always wanted to sit in 🤣

    Got to ride it for the first time in July ‘94 on our honeymoon. IMO, a triumph of Imagineering.

    I remember being there in August of 94 right after it opened. Just astounding as no ride quite like it and forgot the touches of Serling stepping through and not as many drops. Great memories here.

    There’s something so special about the original tower. However the DCA version was so much more refined and provided such a flawless experience. The pacing was perfect. Such a tragedy they ruined it with gaurdians

      @gargantuaism Před 19 dny

      The DCA Tower of Terror did not have the whole 5th Dimension area where the elevator movies forward , that is what makes the Florida attraction so special. Also the queue at the California version was pretty much nothing but a line where as the queue at the Hollywood Studios attraction completely puts you in another world while you are in that winding garden area. You cannot even seen any other part of Walt Disney World while in that line. I always find it interesting when anybody thinks the DCA version was somehow better than the Florida attraction.

      @@gargantuaism Florida's Tower of Terror is certainly the best out of the towers, though gotta give credit to how California & Paris's Tower of Terror for having its own unique design that's just as good as Florida's despite being a smaller & cost-friendly version. Also gotta give credit to them being more reliable since while Florida's is amazing, it is susceptible to going having to temporarily stop cause of the elevator cars being stuck during the 5th Dimension level as well as California & Paris having a bigger & more detailed basement for the ride queue & the mirror level.
      Though Florida is certainly the best version still.
      Shame that DCA lost its tower

      Holy crap! I didn’t dream that, it actually was the way I remembered. The many times I’ve gone through since, I thought “didn’t you used to be able to pass this?”, but it was only a fake door there.

    • @NowhereStarr14
      @NowhereStarr14 Před 6 měsíci +1

      That’s super interesting, I didn’t notice that before. What’s strange is that there’s only one door at the exit of the gift shop, we’re there two in 94 because it split from people who wanted to go into the gift shop and those who didn’t.
