Same and I grew up on Nick in the 90s due to not getting Disney until 99 and CN in 01. Plus they owned my home state theme/amusement park Kings Dominion from 1992/93 to 2006 with Paramount Parks... I mean yeah last time I watched Nick was when Korra was airing and mainly kept to the old 90s shows since but still.

It wasn't until I stumbled on the then called NickToons Network around 2007/2008 and it was WAY more appealing because in the 2000s, it was trying to stand out from the other networks with it's bumpers, ads and shows. Many of which had older shows I discovered for the first time like Ren and Stimpy, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Mr Meaty and especially Invader Zim, and original shows like The Secret Show, Kappa Mikey, El Tigre, Edgar & Ellen, Making Friends. Hypothetically speaking Imagine if all of this drama with Schneider and "Quiet On Set" were to lead to Nickelodean permanently closing it's doors and or shutting down, Which of course would mean all of their current running shows would be cancelled never to be aired again. And that would honestly be a small price to pay for everything that they let Schneider get away with.
And in case anyone ask's, The reason I say "Hypothetically speaking" is because while it is true that Nickelodean has been facing hard times because of everything with "Quiet On Set" I doubt that it would actually cause the network to go bankrupt and permanently shut down.

I was againg out of nick around the time as told by ginger started.
A couple years later i was staying with a family who had children and they were often watching Nickelodeon.

Literally this. I "aged out" of being a Nick kid around the late 90's. Hey Arnold was probably the last Nick show that I was a major fan of and that came out in 1996 and ran a few years. I remember seeing some of the shows from the late 2000's and early 2010's on in the backround of family's houses with kids when visting and thinking the same as you. I didn't get the humor but I figured it wasnt for my age group anymore. Sad.

My tinfoil hat theory is that Schneider sabotaged the animation department so he could push his sitcoms. The rise and fall of each department is oddly perpendicular and the dictate that all new cartoons needed to have Spongebob levels of success is "incompetent" to the point of malice. I noticed that there are more animated shows on Nick now than live-action... so what this guy sees as a problem-- all their cartoons are in their first season-- I see as a sign that the world is beginning to heal.

I've long held reservations about Dan Schneider's work, save for a few exceptions like The Amanda Show and Good Burger. Recent revelations have only confirmed my unease, prompting me to disengage from his productions.
Nickelodeon urgently needs to overhaul its management practices, implementing stringent protocols to prevent individuals like Schneider from exerting unchecked influence.
Regarding Rugrats 2021, it's release amid the SpongeBob spinoff discourse was ill-timed, even though that wasn't the intent. Being CGI (even if executive mandated) and the overblown controversy of Betty being a lesbian (Which mainly started because of that AV Club article) didn't help. Despite this, the reboot manages to honor the original while incorporating modern elements. While it doesn't surpass its predecessor, it offers some solid episodes, sometimes coming close to reaching the highs of the original Rugrats, though you would be willing to have to overlook the CGI and certain changes.
I hope Nickelodeon heeds these concerns and redirects its focus accordingly.

It was probably in large part to my cable company not having Cartoon Network and I not quite being a Disney kid beyond some of the movies, but I loved Nickelodeon.

Watching the show fills me with dread now. Hearing Alexis' story the first time was so heartbreaking. It's one thing that Jamie, Sean, Matthew, Erin, Christopher, Kristin, Victoria and much more bullied and isolated the poor girl (and whom haven't apologized for it as adults 🤨), but even more that Dan himself participated in this too.

At the same time as SpongeBob I also loved Jimmy Nuetron, Fairly Odd Parents, Back at the Barnyard, Paw Patrol, the 2012 TMNT. Granted I did watch a fair share of Cartoon Network shows, as well as Phineas & Ferb and Gravity Falls on Disney, but Nick was my go-to.
I never really watched the sitcoms on any of the channels with the only Nick one I cared about being iCarly and Disney being Suite Life on Deck (never watched the original), so it's sad hearing about all of this now. What makes it worse is that my favorite show when I was 13 was replaced by another Nick show, The Loud House, which was then replaced by My Little Pony not soon after.
