How to exclude music from your Twitch VODs

  • Just wanted to make a quick lil' video for all the people that have been asking how to have music or other application audio during a stream without it going to the VODs. The new OBS just made this super easy.
    IMPORTANT: Desktop Audio must be muted as it captures everything. You'll need to capture all audio sources separately.
    If something changes and this no longer applies I'll update the information here.
    Just remember that while the music will not appear in the VODs, and these will not be muted, streaming copyrighted content is still not allowed and can be detected by Twitch.
    Have fun!

      It was a bit harder yes. OBS didn't have audio capture so we needed virtual audio cables and other software to route the audio from APPs to different devices and then use those devices in OBS. This is a bit easier.

      If it's anything like youtube I would assume no, but I never streamed to Facebook so I couldn't tell you. I use the multi rtmp output plugin to simulcast to youtube and twitch and the best I can do is leave a track out, but there's no separate VOD track.

    • @davexmachina
      @davexmachina  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, just bare in mind that livestreaming copyrighted content is still a big no no so, as long as that's not the main focus of the stream, you should be fine. Sometimes though (very rarely) they also check livestreams ... live, so you might get some vods muted now and then. But generally speaking you should have no trouble because your VODs and clips will not have that content.

    Hey, I recently switched from twitch to youtube and saw this from a Reddit post and followed your link. I found the “seperate twitch vod track” setting on streamlabs OBS and was curious if it worked the same for youtube if you knew? CZcams also uploads the streams after your done like twitch. But would that setting still work?

    • @davexmachina
      @davexmachina  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I can't remember but I think YT doesn't have that feature. If it did, you need to be extra careful because YT content ID system is ruthless, even while you're live. I've gotten false flags for my own music even xD. What I have been doing though is simulcasting on YT and Twitch with the "Multiple RTMP outputs plugin" for OBS, and in the youtube part you can select a track. In this case I just select track 2 (the one I disabled for music) and people on Twitch can hear music while people on YT can't.

      @@aaronbong What I did is: for the basics you add three sources of AAC's (application audio capture) for your game, music app and browser. Then if you use a mic you can add a source of AIC (audio input capture). Now you can choose whichever sort of audio you want on your stream or on your vod or both in the mixer settings with the designated channels 1 (for stream) and 2 (for vods). By the way this is also a bit easier to setup in Streamlabs, which is basically a bit more user friendly version of OBS.

    • @davexmachina
      @davexmachina  Před 8 měsíci +1

      You can still get a copyright strike if they check it while you are live and you are broadcasting copyrighted material. But usually what happens is that when they check it live they will mute the VODS to avoid this (even when the VOD does not contain the music)
      Generally what happens is that your VOD will not contain any of the tracks you keep out, and so the likelihood of your VOD being muted is lower because the live checks are less frequent.

      Desktop Audio needs to be muted because it captures everything. I added this to the description to avoid further confusion. Any additional audio source you want to capture, you need to do it individually. For game capture there's now an option on the latest OBS that allows you to capture audio as well. For anything else you need to add individual audio capture sources.
