I doubled the ram on mine to 16Gb in dual channel. It really helps the performance. Im getting 60fps @ 1080p in Fortnight (Performance mode). The main reason i purchased this machine was for its low TDP @ 35Watts, Its expandability with being able to add an SSD and HDMI option board. Energy prices are so expensive in England and this thing is a really economical gaming machine. They're fantastic.
nice, is it loud? I just snagged a regular 2400G + Vega 11 on ebay today, it has 16GB RAM, but didn't specify if it was single or dual channel. I'm mainly going to be using it to play 4K HDR content on my 4K TV
@@FortyTwoAnswerToEverything its basically silent when playing 720p video. The fan does ramp up a little in 1080p but not to the level in Fortnight. I've not really tried 4K. I would put new thermal paste on the APU before using it.
Wow at price. Perfect for the ultra budget retro/emulation gamer. Tempted to get one just to see how far I can push it. For a step up try the HP EliteDesk 705 G5.
My first ryzen was a 2200g, put it in a asrock x300 barebone. Use it for kodi and emulation. Awesome performance for batocera. Still a decent and modern hardware... The only problem is that new mini pcs with newer ryzen architecture and far better specs are dirt cheap, even minis forum pcs, look amazon sales. When you get something like a 5500u or similar for a little more, thats the better investment imho.
been using this machine to play some older games, left 4 dead 2 and halo mcc. no regrets

Good video. HP could have easily released a bios update so it could have accepted a 3400g but HP would rather sell you another pc.

what you said at the end is right, it gets pretty hot even when it doesn't do anything.
If you remove the stock heatsink and replace it with a full size desktop PC, the processor will perform wayyyyy better! You'll have to cut a hole in the cover so the larger heatsink will fit.
This was my company-issued PC. The drawback is the integrated NIC loses network connection once in a while.

I guess not in a machine this small, but with some voltage and the GPU clock upped a good bit, it’s still alright for some games. I delidded mine and it runs quite cool.
I use one of these for 24 7 streams. They're good if you can grab them for under a hundred. They're not a bad price as they are but chances are if you're looking for this that it isn't your primary driver and you either need a little workhorse or just a toy.
This is a fairly great value for the dollar - although it's a bit low on storage overall

I have the 2400GE version and actually tried putting this CPU on a regular AM4 Motherboard and found out HP locked the CPU to the board. Not sure about the 2400G version though. Also don't mess with the SSD connection too much unless you have a spare since it breaks off easily.
In Korea, Hyundai is/was (Hyundai recently went through a splitting of the business akin to GE in the US) a pretty massive conglomerate second to Samsung. A portion of SK Hynix was originally the “Hyundai Electronics group,” and iirc, merged with SK Group, a prominent maker of dram chips (maybe NAND, before ssd’s took off?). This was probably a decade ago and while the main company is SK Hynix, they probably use Hyundai branding for lower tier NAND, maybe like how they still brand what is a part of their solidigm NAND division as “Intel.”
Anyway, there’s probably some Asianometry video that fills in my knowledge gaps that I haven’t watched yet.
Someone claims they upgraded their HP EliteDesk Mini 705 G4 with an HP AMD Radeon RX560 4GB 705G4ED DM 800G4ED DM 800G5ED DM EliteDesk800G5 DM. It plugs in where the 2.5" bay is. (You need to use NVMe storage).
Also the latest bios in the Elitedesk 705 G4 with Ryzen 5 2400G bumps video memory up to 1gb (from 512). Also, on the subject of performance on these PCs with integrated Radeon, the RAM timing makes a huge difference for gaming.
ok, so, now swap out that 2.5" tray for the RX560 4GB card designed to go in that slot. They're about 60 on the zon and im curious to see the performance increase over the igpu of the 2400g

Try atlasOS and then install playnite. Set in registery as Shell to start at first. So desktop wont start only direct to playnite. I got so more power and better fps. Even lower power and only 880 threads with 55 processes. Absolut stunning.
I bought one of these for 120 bucks on ebay a few weeks ago. Im having trouble getting batocera to boot on it, any suggestions? Came with wimdows 11 on an m.2 so id try and bypass windows for this
You have to turn off secure boot in the bios

You should point out that there is a difference between a 2400G and a 2400GE, the E apparently slows it down...
Is that not the 2400GE? The lower power version of the 2400G. I have a G5 version with the 3400GE and it had 3200MHz RAM in it from new. Not sure if it's actually running at that speed though. Will have to check in the BIOS. I also have a Lenovo version too, which has standard HDMI where the HP has DisplayPort.
I would never get a system like that. The CPU temperatures are frighteningly high. I think this Ryzen CPU is completely unsuitable for a mini computer that only has a small laptop cooler. I would rather get a mini computer with an Intel T CPU, even if the integrated graphics unit on the Ryzen is much more powerful.
Sadly, this processor is not on the Win 11 compatibility list. However, it is a lot of performance for the right price.
That's weird because the units I bought off of ebay came with Windows 11 installed and everything looks legit.

I have this one, but it runs on 65W - and man, it gets HOT and loud quickly lol But I love this machine. I always thought the 2400GE runs on 25W? Or was it 45W? Anyway, looking forward to the follow up video 🙂

Carefull, pro versión of amd causa for sff, are cutted in performance. I use amd oberdrive to unluck full potential
