  • Not quite an Edinburgh story but one that's fascinated me for years.
    In the mid 1990's my parents owned a farm on the shores of Loch Rannoch, in the heart of Scotland.
    The farm was old and came with not one, but three very different ghost stories.
    Watch to learn about the "Ghosts of Liarn Farm".

    With so much of CZcams content given over to sensationalism, whilst being voiced by CG narrators. Thankfully you have brought a much needed breath of fresh air to the supernatural genre. Your videos are expertly researched, made and voiced. Thank you so much.

    My Grandmother during the War worked at Glamis Castle, when I was wee, she’d scare us with tales of ghosts….she told me there were many ghosts at Glamis! I wished I’d recorded her stories now., just subbed, very atmospheric production!

    Brilliant stories. We have a similar phantom horse and coach story up here in Aberdeenshire on the old drive to Pittodrie House. I have also listened closely at night hoping to hear the clatter of ethereal equine hooves but alas…

    my brother and I were drinking with a friend in a car parked up outside the Alexander redoubt around 2am, there's an old British fort there with old graves dating back to the mid 1800s ,the place is on a hill surrounded by trees over looking the Waikato river , then we noticed a light coming up the road towards us we could hear hard foot wear ,I thought it must be a jogger with a light on there head, but the light wasn't a torch it didn't light up a path it also had a small tail behind the light and nobody would be jogging in hard boots at 2am towards a very old creepy ex fort slash cemetery , even though out side the cemetery there's a dim orange lamp post light we still couldn't see anybody there as the light and the sound of boots came up to the back of the car then went back the way it came, thinking it must be a guy jogging I said hello and there was no reply and I tried to see the person but all I could see were 2 shiney black shins, yet even though you could see the trees clearly across the road, but the dead give away was it didn't follow the road it went strait over an embankment and thru a fence then thru the trees , but strait ahead that way is the newer cemetery further down the road, I figured it out, it must have been 1 of the 2 british soldiers or the captain of the fort that are buried there , the light must of been an orb and the sound of hard boots would be the British soldiers jack boot, they are shiney and black I just saw the shins of the boots, they were just checking up on why we were there,

    Well, horses, like contemporary Porsches, cost money, even back then. Perhaps he couldn't afford one? Now, tell me, was there ever any history of 'moonshining' or 'freetrading' around Pitlochry and Lochcranoch? 'Further south, in Kent, Cornwall and other smugling hotbeds, a phantom carriage or hearse was a favourite trick to keep inquisitive noses 'out of it'. On the other hand, they also feature in a number of ancient 'noble family' type legends - invariably as a forteller of an imminent death.

    • @eerieedinburgh
      @eerieedinburgh  Před rokem +2

      That's an excellent point! I've no doubt there would have been some illicit stills around there. I believe there are potentially thousands of undiscovered stills in the highlands to this day. The farm's not too far from Blair Atholl which has a distillery dating back to the late 1700's, and its known farmers in the area were distilling. So definitely Whisky territory. Good thinking.

      Did you ever come across a W. E. Johns story entitled 'Gimlet Goes Home'? It was in fact a pretty good yarn, set in the Highlands, and concerned an early post war moonshining racket set up in an abandonned and illegal Georgian era distillery.

    In the relatively shallow waters between the coast of California and Catalina Island, there have been UFO sightings. But if no UFOs have been seen in the loch, just the lights, could they be ghost lights? Interesting and strange! What could the lights be from? Would not want to see those on a dark and cold night.

    • @eerieedinburgh
      @eerieedinburgh  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Interesting thought. The lore is that the lights are spirit lights. Somewhere i have an old pamphlet that goes into a wee bit more detail, i'll need to see if i can dig it out 👍🏻
