Knipex pliers have a gap at the top when you close them as well, it’s to reduce wear on the cutting edge

Believe it or not but that screwdriver shape is the same as Knipex were in the early 90s. I still have some here.

I'll be honest, I've got Wiha side cutters and the black finish came off those after only a few cuts. The copper scrapes it off as you cut through. I'm not sure you can judge the quality of the cutter on the fact the black finish comes off on use. Same thing happened with my Wiha screwdrivers too. I think if you use cutters without the black finish then maybe you don't see it.

I know you mainly do house hold electrics but can you do a rough guide for a auto electricians tool kit and focus on Automatic wire strippers for 12V flat cables or are most of the wire strippers cross compatiable?

I have the “Powerfix” screwdriver set from Lidl. They have nice rubberised grips and feel good in the hand. I’m a DIYer so my tools aren’t subject to the day-in-day-out use that a pros tools get but they have held up well so far. The downside is that Lidl only get tools in periodically and when they’re gone, they’re gone.
