I have the spd7y from Sam’s club and an lg c2. Great deal for $350 and it comes with the subwoofer with 360 watts. I do not regret it and don’t plan on renting it. I did use the e-arc with Ai setting on the bar. It’s fantastic.

I love how this is a tech setup guide more than an actual review. You never once mentions the sound QUALITY of the unit.
Yes the Atmos was convincing. Great, than I know.
How about the sound? Does it sound spacious and full? How's the midrange with speech and music? Is the sub the correct size for this model and is it muddy or fairly sharp? Does it go deep enough?
    Worst "review" i've seen.
But I sure got told what Atmos is and how to configure an HDMI E-ARC connection... useless.

I have LG C1 TV and this soundbar. How should I set the TV? Choice "TV sound mode share" or "Sound bar mode control"? If I set first one, can't change volume setting for any speakers/subwoofer and in TV AI mode block EQ setting. But I hear somewhere, that AI from TV is better than AI from soundbar. Ans should I turn on surround system if i have not rear speakers? (otherwise upper speakers are off)?
And one more thing - frequencies from 20 to ~55Hz are very silent, buf subwoofer is paired. It's normal?
Anyway I measure power consumption and think, that 1W in idle isn't energy saving friendly :( Most consumed by subwoofer (0,6-0,7W). Wireless, but must connect to power supply. It's stupid IMO - it might as well be connected to soundbar. Then no bluetooth need and can by permanently switch off.

I have one of these connected via HDMI E-ARC to my LG C2 - Sound quality is a 7.5 out of 10 IMO - The lack of decent bass let's it down as a standalone soundbar. I also noticed there are no recommended settings. Personally I have my preset on AI Sound, Treble changed to 5, Bass changed to 5 and everything else left on 0. Stick a hip-hop beat on from CZcams and at volume 20 the thing sounds great, although the neighbours aren't too happy!

@@Joeguard1990 Where i brought it it was only available with the subwoofer. Its that if its Dolby Atmos or DTS, their preference is overriding anyway. With Cinema it's the only mode that uses the upfirering speakers for movies if it isn't Atmos or DTS. For music you want the mederian sound and mostly stereo, and not the AI to enhance a voice, if it isn't the way the vocal of the song is recorded.

    • @Joeguard1990
      @Joeguard1990 Před 5 měsíci

@@robertoborgen3781 it’s down to your own preference at the end of the day. I played multiple songs on CZcams with atmos and movies and spent hours finding the settings that sounded the best for me. IMO AI sound preset with Bass and Treble at 5 provides the best 3D sound with the best clarity. All the others sound like the levels are wrong and the sound is too mono. It’s a front facing soundbar at the end of the day with no rear speakers so you will never get true surround sound.

Hi, I have an LG OLED TV identical to yours that I set as you did but the soundbar in question continues to signal me dolby audio and not dolby atmos. Is there some setting I need to turn on or could it be the hdmi cable? Note that I can hear e-arc audio.

I am planning to get a soundbar, I have a question regarding the setup:
Xbox Series X which runs at 4K/120Hz and Dolby Vision or HDR on LG Nanocell TV
I'd like to purchase a soundbar now. If I am not mistaken, ARC or eARC should do the trick
The connection would be like this
Xbox Series X -> LG Nanocell TV (HDMI 2.1 Port)
    and then
LG Nanocell TV -> Soundbar (z.B. LG SPD7Y) (HDMI 2.1 eArc)
In theory my TV should then still show the 4K/120Hz form the Xbox but the sound should come out of the soundbar (if set right in the TV)
    Am I correct?

This is like my setup but with lg oled c1.. there are some pros and cons, you can have dolby atmos with series x but only if you conect the xbox to the soundbar. You can still set the conection like you say directly xbox to the tv, but there is significantly audio delay that way..
So xbox directly to soundbar -> great dolby atmos sound but no dolby vision 120hz
Xbox directly to tv -> dolby vision 4k 120hz but with delayed dolby atmos..
You can still use the soundbar but without atmos on xbox

Its not the case with my LG soundbar and subwoofer, with the meridian music mode it makes it the closest to a real hifi experience. The AI tries to guess what's going on, no difference between music being played in a tv show or a recording. I however agree with the treble and bass set at 5.
Watching movies with AI does not use the upfirering speakers

@@robertoborgen3781 not sure if I’ve mentioned previously but I’m just using the soundbar standalone, have no rear speakers or sub attached. Music mode might work better for you as you have the sub, but for me music default has 0 bass and doesn’t project the sound. The AI SOUND PRO preset for me gives the best balance of treble bass and mids, whether I’m listening to music, playing games or watching Dolby atmos movies on Netflix. You are correct if I listen to a music video for example on CZcams it doesn’t use the upcoming speakers, however if I force it to use them by putting the soumdbar into BASS mode for example, sure it uses them, but from my sofa the sound levels are just awful and there’s no balance to it. I have to go with what sounds the best for me at my viewing seat. The upfiring speakers work fine when watching atmos movies on Netflix in AI mode and give a better 3D sound IMO. But as I said at the end of the day it’s personal preference buddy. I spent a whole day day in my chair going through every option with music and moves to find what sounded the best to me :)
