    I just bought an X-Pro1 a couple weeks ago. My wife and I do wedding and family photography so this will be my backup and/or personal camera. We use X-T2s for our professional work and shoot in RAW for more control when editing. I’ll be shooting the X-Pro1 in JPEG though.
    Thanks for the videos! They are much appreciated. And I enjoy your photography style. Keep up the good work.

    I've watched this 3 or 4 times now, and tried out your settings. The back button focusing works, but not always. The shoot only JPEGs mode with film simulation works well in good lighting, but I have to resort to raw in high contrast situations which we get a lot here where I live (Norway at 62 deg N)
    But you've given me a renewed interest in my X-Pro1 .
    Thanks.

    • @Jorge-Perez
      @Jorge-Perez  Před rokem

      Thanks for your comment! Here are a couple of things that I'd like to add:
      1. The Fujicrons are probably the best option for people that want to use autofocusing or back-button focusing, in my experience it works 85-90% of the time.
      2. I do shoot jpeg only, and rarely edit any of my images, (you can reference my full X-E1 & X-Pro1 review for samples) This is achieved by paying extra attention to the exposure. I expose for the highlights, always, or at the very least for an "in-between" in the exposure bracket. You can always bring the shadows up if you want, but you can never recover the blown highlight.
      I especially like to shoot in high contrast because that makes it very very easy to get black shadows, but that is just a personal preference, that's how I like my images.
      But the most important thing is that we are having this conversation, that you are using the camera, and that we love the craft. Thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to share your experiences as well! I really appreciate it 🙏🏼😁

  • @upgradetoanalog
    @upgradetoanalog Před 3 lety +5

    Can you elaborate on your choices regarding the sharpness, color and shadow/highlight settings?
    For example: I’ve understood that the lack of an antialiasing filter helps with sharpness overall, but do you feel that the in-camera jpg engine is too aggressive with its sharpening algorithms?

    • @Jorge-Perez
      @Jorge-Perez  Před 3 lety +10

      Sure thing, as cameras progress and sensors get better and more sensitive, the highlight and shadows thresholds improve, but the sharpness and noise reduction does not seem to improve at the same rate.
      You can try to "fix" your highlights and shadows, massage the files and work with your curves, but there's not much you can do if you have an over-sharpened image, or if the noise reduction is so aggressive that it mushes the image.
      My philosophy is to get everything in camera, the right aspect ratio, simulations etc. Not because I'm against editing, but because I like to shoot with intentionally, however, I rather apply the correct amount of sharpening and noise reduction later, rather than let the algorithm inside the camera try and mess up the file.
      By setting the Highlight +1, Shadow +1, what this is doing, is creating an S curve directly in the camera. The X100V has a good visual representation of the S-curve/Tone Curve menu, I recommend you watch my "Fujifilm X100V Settings" video, specifically at 04:53.
      Long story short, I try to get as much as possible in camera, and then later just add the correct amount of sharpness, noise reduction (If needed) and just small corrections like centering images, or small angle tweaks, etc.
      Hope that helps! thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment as well! Cheers! ✨🙌🏼

      If the difference is ONLY cosmetic, and does not bother you, then go for the cheaper camera and put that money on good lenses, (50mm F2 for speed, 56mm F1.2 for quality).

    • @Jorge-Perez
      @Jorge-Perez  Před 3 lety

      That is correct, in fact, none of the fuji cameras feel good while wearing glasses in my opinion, that is especially why the diopter matters, it's very important in all of these camera.
      I only wear glasses when coding or reading etc, Which means that I can leave my home with just the camera and not have any issues, but since the viewfinder's is not made out of plastic, or rubber, or anything like that, I can see this camera in particular being a real pain while wearing glasses.
      The little correction lenses that I showed in my X-Pro1 review have a rubber edge/border, that can help to make sure you don't scratch your glasses, but If you don't have a need for those, then the viewfinder is just bare metal.
