  • With LASEK, an alcohol solution loosens the epithelium, a thin layer of cells that covers the surface of the cornea. The epithelium is peeled back from the cornea and a laser reshapes your cornea to correct nearsightedness or farsightedness. The epithelium is placed back over the cornea. Nice procedure. Alien abduction vibes with a lot of pain afterwards. Day 4 or so no pain anymore. They then remove your contact lens around day 5 and you continue stopping them drops for a month or so. Eventually after a few months, you get really good vision. This surgery was a good life decision! I he mine done in Optical Express and I highly recommend them because they even gave me some of those anaesthetic drops for the first few days even though you’re advised against using them as they slow your healing. I used them sparingly though in addition to the antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and moistening drops.

That’s great to hear! I’m scheduled for this surgery with optical express on the 26th

@@TheRedMenaceUK it’ll be good! I had dry eyes for a while but after my “dry eye therapy” plan which involved special drops and a night ointment, I have really crisp vision in both eyes. Can’t speak for other treatments, but if I had to recommend LASEK, then def def def go for it! 👌 I had mine at the Optical Express Shaftesbury Avenue branch.

Hey, I’m planning on going for a lasek surgery with optical express, how much did your surgery cost if you don’t mind me asking and what was your prescription?

    • @alexander191297

@@fatimanoor8804 Hey Fatima, the cost was about 5400£ in total, of which I’ve paid 2700£ upfront and am paying back the second half in instalments with only a 11.5% interest (which is on the whole amount). I, too, had mine at Optical Express. The procedure I had was of the iDesign kind which is the premium one, however I think that for such a once-in-a-lifetime surgery, it’s worth the extra cash. Professional, with great after-care and overall nice service.
My prescription was -7.5 with astigmatism in the left eye and -8.0, in the right eye, also with astigmatism.
It was only so expensive for me because I had a relatively high prescription with astigmatism in both eyes, but today, it’s worth every penny to me. I have 20/16 vision in both eyes today! Good luck with your LASEK surgery! 🍀

I had this procedure due to my thin corneas. I’d rather give natural birth again 🤦🏻‍♀️ excruciating pain pos surgery I’ll never forget! But healing makes your eyes look intact like they’ve never been touched.
