    I'm gonna be bunt with my experience...
    I had Lasik about 6 months ago at Lasik Plus with mixed results. I had a +2.00 in left eye and +3.00 with an astigmatism in the right eye prior to surgery. I was farsighted. Post op, I can see some things close better than before without my glasses, but most things far are still very fuzzy like before. Nothing like when I used to wear my glasses. The Lasik Plus doctor has "assured me" that the flap is healing very well and my vision in the office is hovering around 20/20. I have also had very dry eyes, so they did temp duct plugs which seemed to help, but not with the vision. It might take some extra time. Who knows. However, I did have a discussion with the doctor about "enhancement". He explained the how it works. That being said, I have made it very clear to the doctor that if the end result after the the 12 month mark is a remaining refractive error, then I will opt to not have an enhancement and return to my optometrist (close family friend who is NOT in favor of enhancement) who will just put me back in glasses and monitor for ectasia and other corneal issues that could occur post Lasik. What a fucking mess...

    I had my lasek surgery 7th October, the first two days were painful for me. Make sure that you have somebody to help you for the two - three days. My eyes aren't quite 20/20, I had a check up 2 days ago, and I am driving standard, which is progress. I chose not to get lasik, because of the 'halos' described. The first three days, I just lay in bed and listened to the TV without opening my eyes. If anyone is thinking about getting it done, you won't regret it :-)

    I also had wavefront lasek done last year, very satisfied with the results had about -3 in each eye with mild astigmatism too and now I’m 20/15 each eye no astigmatism. The only thing I experienced was occasional floaters in very bright sunlight for the first few months but they’ve kind of gone away now after 1 year. If you follow the aftercare protocol very well it should work out well in the end.

    People asking about drops, you get fresher drops for when your eyes feel dry. Two kinds of other drops, one which is steroid eye drops. You take the first one for four times a day for a week. And the steroid drops the next, four times a day for first week and twice a day for the next. Each surgeon will advice different. But since my surgery I've have not developed dry eyes, and I don't need my fresher drops.

    Your vision will continue to change for as long as 3 months after the surgery, after that point typically the only thing you should notice is re-learning how to quickly focus your eyes from a near point to a far point, it's up to you to learn this. This has been my experience anyways. Went from -4.75 and -5 to 20/15 in both eyes by the way, No problems, couldn't be happier.

      @@sovcat8671 pretty quickly noticed that my night vision is worse and the glare of oncoming traffic at night is way worse. I used to have notably good night vision and now it's notably bad. Noticed chronic dry eyes at 5 years and vision has deteriorated since then. I still don't need correction to drive but if i don't put drops several times a day my vision is worse and eyes are uncomfortable. My twin sister had the same lasik at the same clinic and still has excellent vision and no dry eyes, my vision was worse and i was sensitive to dust to start so probably that's relevant. I'm not sure if I regret or not. I used to have excellent near vision, before lasik it felt like when I took off my glasses I had magnifying lense vision. Now I don't have that, now everything is mediocre.

    Useful video, I'm having Lasek today to top up my vision following cataract surgery last September. My eye surgeon has had Lasek performed on himself and he said it hurt a lot for three days but for some people it is much less painful. At risk of getting abuse, if people are going to quote statistics please also quote the source because otherwise it just looks like you heard it in a bar somewhere. Thanks for posting and hope your vision stays good for the long term (though you will almost certainly need reading glasses once you become an old git like me).

    • @GoodHealthIsGoodLife
      @GoodHealthIsGoodLife Před 10 lety +1

      Give any source that doesnt show lasik in 1 out of 5 patients causes serious eye injuries. A recent Dr Oz investigation confirmed this with data provided by the FDA. Manufacturers also provide data showing poor results longterm.
      Its pretty obvious mr. Smith that either you are permanently inclined to stay in the dark about your own health and safety or possibly you are a lasik official providing false comments to promote industry interests.
      Also it does question your motives and honesty if you claim to have no access to alternative sources of news when just to the right theres hundreds of horror stories and serious news articles on the dangers and the scam nature of lasik.

    • @robsmith1a
      @robsmith1a Před 10 lety

      Thank you for your feedback. I'm pleased to report that a week after Lasek my eyes are recovering well. In the end the thing that gave me confidence was that my eye surgeon had the procedure performed on himself after decades of doing it on other people. Having said that I was a very happy contact lens wearer until I developed cataracts and would not have considered any surgery until then (I had lentis mplus multifocal lenses implanted last September and the laser treatment is to fine tune the distance vision). I am of the view that if I could see fine with glasses and contact lenses I would definitely have left my eyes alone but as I was on the verge of having to give up driving I had to have something done and took the decision to go for best possible vision without glasses. The consultant was also very clear about the risks. Anyway - I don't think there is much I can add other than I agree it is important to research the risks and benefits and base your decision on that (and also make sure your surgeon is good and isn't just a salesman).

    • @GoodHealthIsGoodLife
      @GoodHealthIsGoodLife Před 10 lety +1

      you are simply promoting an unsafe surgery that is completely unnecessarily and expensive.

    • @robsmith1a
      @robsmith1a Před 10 lety

      Please re-read what I said. I wouldn't have the surgery if I didn't need it but it is up to the individual to research. My eyesight had deteriorated with cataracts and lens replacement surgery was the only way to get my sight back. The Lasek was to tune the vision afterwards and included in the price (otherwise I would have always needed glasses to drive even after the cataract operation). I don't think either of us is totally qualified to say whether the surgery is safe or not but given the huge number of procedures carried out there are bound to be lots of horror stories even if only 1 in a 1000 results in a poor outcome. I'm not promoting or affiliated to anybody and I would agree that there are a lot of places advertising the surgery as being somewhat less stressful and more complication free than is the reality. Having said that I have a couple of friends who have had the surgery and are very happy with the outcome. It is also worth mentioning that my surgeon was very clear about the level of pain and discomfort I'd go through and asked me straight if I really wanted to do this given the pain and the (relatively small) risk.. *****

More specifically when it comes to being able to use a computer and stare at a computer screen all day. Because for people who work on a computer all day, this is crucial and if your eyes become permanently more sensitive to using a computer, then having this surgery is a big no-no.

    I'll never have it done. They down play the pain, the risks, complications, and things like dry eyes as extremely minimal or next to nothing, but I am not convinced. First, if you are the person that had a problem, it would never be minor to you for something involving your eyes. . Second, read up on people who had problems online and there are a ton. Third, and this is key, how do we know what any bad affects will be long term, say 20 or 30 years later, since the procedure has only become popular in the last 15 years ? Well, we don't know despite what anyone tells you. To me that is a huge unknown. Sure, there are many risks in life, but why risk when you don't have too ? My glasses are fine for me, thankyou.

      I personally know someone who did it, with the best specialists and nothing went wrong during the surgery.
      Yet her eyes didn't recover and the nerves aren't growing back. Her eyes are constantly in pain and she needs to put drops in them all the time. She is now very sensitive to bright lights and the wind (!) so can't really enjoy indoor or outdoor activity. It's been more than a year now by the way.

      @rjwalker6677 Před 9 lety

      ***** That's what I'm talking about. If you are the unlucky one, it can be a nightmare. And like you said, about 1 in a 100 have some type of complication, at least for a short time. But "dry eyes" are not even counted as a complication.
      Imagine that ! The other 99 just say it was easy, no problems, and I only wish I did it sooner. Good for them, but even they could have a problem in the future because of the procedure.

At the time I reassured myself that it would be fine, but I'm actually worried that it might have a long term affect on my recovery process? I researched it a bit and they say not to drink because it makes your blood vessels widen and makes your eyes more prone to infection and also dehydrates your body. Honestly I don't know if I'm being overly concerned/paranoid or I should in fact be worried. What do you think?

Were you told prior that the Bowmans layer, which is accelular, of the cornea is permanently destroyed in the treatment zone in PRK/Lasek ops! I expect that as you had lasek, you will also have had MMC (Mitomycin C) drops put in your eyes during the ops to counter haze forming & these are administered 'off label' & the long term effects are unknown. I hope you were fully consented on this! The refractive eye surgery industry scandal is a worldwide one & it is quite telling that there are damaged patient groups forming in many countries! You 'dodged a bullet', but countless numbers of others didn't, & the psychopaths who perform these ops are callous beyond belief in their attitude to their damaged patients, and you're lucky not to have experienced this side of them!

    Imo it all depends who does the video ... I dont consider you the "bro"/"meat head" type. I think it would flow better from you and I am in no way interested in fitness ... (im lazy sorry, though not fat :p) For people that care though, it could be a good idea.

    I usually don't buy any clothes in Korea. Most of them don't fit me because of my build. Koreans are too skinny ^^

    Also according to official statistics the majority of lasik patients after 5 years need to wear corrective lenses and are unhappy with their vision.
    How much of a waste of money are we talking here?

      This video is talking about Lasek, not Lasik. Your facts are for the wrong procedure entirely.

      The lasers used and the damage done by the lasers is the same. They have wasted money because their corneas were fine but they only had postural issues and have been exploited by glasses/lasek salesmen.
      If you are defending large corporations who are profiteering from the injuries of innocent people then you know where to go.

      ***** If you're some tree hugging hippy that is fine, but the fact you're spending this much of your life spreading false statistics about laser eye surgery is worrying.
      Don't want laser eye surgery? don't get it. It is simple.

      You dont have any science or research to back you up. You seem to only know how to argue and annoy people (like some 5 year old.) I feel sorry for your friends and family that had to live with someone like you.

      ***** I'm not arguing. You're just some kid that doesn't know what they're talking about, probably think you're a funny troll or something.

    if i were you id take this video down and stop promoting laser eye surgery. If you really were an expert on eyesight and this surgery youd know the risks outweigh the gains. Also there are natural alternatives that are proven to be 100% effective with no side effects.
    While you may have got away with an apparent improvement in eye chart results (like how a contact lens works) you have worse night vision, dry eyes, a vulnerable open cornea and will develop corneal diseases like the others who unfortunately fell for this treatment.

      @robsmith1a Před 10 lety +4

      Please point me to the research showing a 100% effective natural alternative (nothing is 100% so I'd be amazed if you can).

      Robert Smith Seeing that your channel is promoting laser eye surgery its likely your motives will be biased. From your video its obvious that you have not set out to give a truthful or realistic portrayal of what is essentially a multi-billion dollar scam. This scam has started up only because certain companies bypassed the FDA with falsified safety data.
      CZcams is full of videos of success stories with alternative methods. Millions of people have recovered their vision naturally (including myself and friends) Its more surprising someone like you is trying to claim you have no idea about this.

      @robsmith1a Před 10 lety +2

      This is my last post on the subject (promise!). You say there is a scam going on but to say millions of people have recovered their vision naturally is an outlandish claim in itself (is there a database somewhere with all these people on it and verified results?). What is required is double blind (sic) trials of any method to show a measurable improvement. I've tried eye exercises and even the Bates method and my eyes carried on getting worse. The only way I ever threw away glasses was to wear contact lenses and like a miracle I could suddenly see, it was like the optician actually knew how short sighted I was and prescribed something that corrected it exactly, the prescription then stayed the same for 20 years - I guess they used some kind of witchcraft to achieve this, it couldn't be that they'd spent years studying to learn how to do this could it? On a more serious not it is always a good idea to get your eye tested regularly because they can also sometimes spot other diseases by looking at your eyes. Anyway I know you have great conviction in your views and we could carry this exchange on for the rest of out lives and I have other things to do. I genuinely hope that whatever you do continues to work for you but in my case I made my choice and am content with it.
