- Fishing the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C.!!! I NEVER would have expected such AMAZING fishing from such a public and popular area! In the past I've had mixed success from this unique spot, ranging anywhere from a 35+ pound blue catfish to a few chunky bass to getting skunked after a 10 hour day on the water... On today's outing, I time my arrival to sync perfectly with the height of the incoming tide, and as my reward, I catch a TON of awesome fish including two species I've never pulled out of the basin before!

We catch a lot of striped bass in this area of the country, around the San Francisco Bay and in the canals of central California, especially "schoolie" sized ones under 18" (legal minimum size limit here). They typically do not get "chunky" like a largemouth or smallmouth, but tend to be more slender, especially when they are smaller like that. When they get bigger, like 20 or 30 pounds (or more), then they can get a little "chunky" around spawning time. Enjoyed you video. I am trying to learn more about fishing in your area since my daughter just moved to Virginia.

That was a striped Bass
This is really weird to me, because I was in D.C. this last weekend. Literally walked all the way around those fishing spots, and even told my family that if I were to go back, I would bring my rods and fish the whole time. It looked like such an amazing fishery. You even fished all the exact spots I wanted to hit lol.

Not in the Muskogee area I can barely catch one or largies at my closest body of water
close to where I live I barely go, but there was a day when I caught 3 9 inchers on worms but I've seen others catch HUGE ones at the lake. also seen pics of family catching huge ones at texoma and eufaula.

You should came to Durban, South Africa sometime. I fish the Durban harbour area almost every day and you never know what you might catch. The fishing pressure is a bit high but with most anglers converting to spinning setups and a catch and release mindset,we are slowly improving our fish stocks. Seriously though, if you ever visit South Africa, Durban especially, give me a shout and i will definitely take you on a tour of the best fishing spots around. Nice to see you doing it old school man. Top videos :)!!!!

1rod i got a question i just started using bait casters and trying to find another bass fishing hole to use it in because i cant go to the other one anymore but anyway i noticed when i was practicing with it that the drag is very weak i mean it has some resistance but nothing like my spin cast reels do i have to have my thumb on the spool to help it or is the drag suppost to be able to handle it on its own any ideas or tips. really enjoy your videos BTW they gave med more dedication to learn a bait cast and i really enjoy casting it

That was a striped bass. You can tell vs. the white bass as the striped bass has a slender body and the distinct black lines that don't break except behind/above the gill plate. Great job fishing D.C.!
