Wow, I did not expect it to be so compact. So disappointing about the cancellation this year. Your machine is the reason I wanted to watch so badly. Looks like there is some extra room to hoist your weight up. Are you going to do a freefall like the thumper at some point?
Leonard Vance Just make it out of old tennis rackets :) It's already the best arm design I've ever seen on a trebuchette. This is truly the coolest project on youtube right now. I'm sure it looks like a scaffolding tower with a crane arm to some people, but to those that understand how much engineering and attention to detail went into this thing, it is a true work of art. Can't wait to see it break some records.
bojngles45 We intend to take the CW to the top of the tower, and nearly triple the weight of the CW. Doing so with a methodical testing approach is a challenge as intermediate free drop distances produce significant bounce in the lines. Nevertheless, this is designed to be a direct drop thumper.

On the plus side, an extra year means there's time to construct a carbon fiber arm, right? :)
bojngles45 We are. First attempt at that produced a dryfire and put us back into the shop. We're going to try again next spring.
Leonard Vance Now there's an expensive project! Actually, arm streamlining is more important than inertia. We'll probably work that first
