I have recently bought a Sony RX100 VII and it's a lovely little camera which packs quite a punch but when I realised there was no way to attach a filter then I was quite disappointed to think I couldn't experiment to get more out of the camera. So Chris, after seeing your video tutorials you have enthused me to get some filters and get back out there with more enthusiasm. I hope there are a few more filters out there that I could use.
Super explained! Congrats! I bought the rx100m7 recently and put a JJC filter adapter on it to use a polarisation filter. I had the idea to leave the adapter and filter always on the camera as I did with my slr before. But this configuration makes the camera bigger so that it is difficult to find a little bag wich I could carry with my belt.
I believe the reason you aren't seeing vignetting in video is due to your SteadyShot setting, which partially crops the image. With it turned off, I would assume the edges of the filter should still be visible. Thank you for pointing this out; I am considering getting the next size up now.
Thanks for this. I have an RX100 VI and had problems with exposure when filming flying aircraft at air shows due to the bright scenes. Hoping this will enable be to have full control of exposure when filming in the future.

Thank you, glad you liked it! To your question: the adapter allows to mount basically any filter of a specific size. In this case the adapter allows for 52mm filters, but you can buy it for other sizes, too. I don't have a ND progression filter, but I could imagine that it weighs more than the filter shown in the video. And if it would weigh more I am not sure if the magnetic connection can hold the weight. Hope that helps.

I am actively deciding between the Mark V vs. Mark VI/VII and was taking the lack of built-in ND filters into account but this doesn't seem so bad of a quick mod in terms of getting the extra focal range on the VI/VII. Now I have to decided if those newer models warrant all the extra costs!

I would not do this (and I am about to) without making sure the surface of the lens area where the metal ring goes is clean. So I will clean it first with a detergent/cleaner and make sure there is no grease or oil where the metal ring will adhere. *Then* I will position the 3M ring on the camera.
Yes, because it's the most compact size that didn't add much to the height of the lens. So I can set down the camera with the filter attached (without knocking off the magnetic ring).

I am still looking or charging cable (direct from gimbal to Camera) and I am still looking for filters - here I have a Question. What about MagFilter 58 - maybe you can avoid vignetting with bigger filter ?
I bought a cable from Zhiyun because I thought I could replace the WiFi Connection for controlling the camera from the gimbal. But I had to return the cable to the store, because it didn't do anything. If you find a cable that works I would be interested to know. Concerning the bigger filter: yes it probably avoids the vignetting, but I think it wouldn't be flush to the body anymore. So you would have to take it off when you put the camera e.g. on a table.
The Sony ZV 1 already comes with a nd filter built-in. But in case you need to mount additional filters: the dimensions of the metal ring are: inner diameter 32mm and outer diameter 37mm. (see also amazon product description, link in video description)
That's annoying with the visible edges of the adapter ring. ND filters of less thickness would possibly be helpful. Are there any experienced users out there?

The filter and the adapter don't seem to heavy to me. I think it shouldn't be a problem.
What is greener tinge at the spot where the camera is focusing?
The green spots are from the audio levels in video mode.

Yes, because it's the most compact size that didn't add much to the height of the lens. So I can set down the camera with the filter attached (without knocking off the magnetic ring).
Wondering if Sony couldn’t fit the ND’s inside the mark vii (with 24-200 lens) or just being cheap & saving $$$!?🤔
To get to 200mm the lens had to go deeper inside the camera leaving no room for an internal filter.

The magnetic ring is not visible in the picture. It is very thin.

The M1 and M2 did not have integrated ND filters
Why does your amazon link go to a 49mm filter?
It doesn't. It links to the 52mm filter. But you can switch to other sizes.
