That’s awesome! I’m going to make one that takes up the whole tube and holds more oil.

I found it, try “Metal Alcohol Lamp Portable Mini Alcohol Burner” for who need it.

This was great, thank you for posting this! Alternative IDEA (SO EASY): I am thinking about how to fashion a mod with longer burn time (longer tubes) for camping, SO... I am going to get some EDC / Pill Aluminum air tight containers, which are the correct diameter (will fit) and longer (meaning longer burn time!) and modify them.
FYI, You can look up oil lamp burn hours per ounce, or something like that, to get a better idea for modding. I am looking for 8 to 10 hour burn time.
My Mod idea..., since these air-tight aluminum case tubes do not have a "wick holder" when you take off the lid, and you don't want to just drill through the lid and then not be able to seal the tube after use (assuming camping) ...is to fashion a "wick holder" to set *inside the the "container tube"*. This can be as crude as fashioning a piece from a tin can for using as the insert. For instance, a long strip of tin folded into a "U" shape (and with some added handiwork) could be inserted into the tube, with the bottom of the "U" near the top, with a wick hole in it
NOTE: if you fashion something that makes it airtight, you may run into issues where the oil/fuel-of-choice does not flow up and keep the wick wet. What you do is drill a tiny hole in the top to alleviate the pressure.

This insert is available on Amazon (of course) and I also bought a larger well-made unit on Etsy.

Nice! What's the burn time on that burner when used in the UCO?

Longest I have run it (with citronella oil) is 4 hours. I do not remember how much of the fuel was left. I keep another full amount of fuel with me as well as a couple of the candles when I am doing the car camp thing. This isnt something I would want to take hiking or backpacking, there is a small hole in the top (under the lid) so it can leak into the lid area.

How did you get the wick in? I ordered a couple and can't get the wicks in the hole

_The container is supplied with a very thin wick, but it is impossible for me to get it into the hole. I will have to try different techniques!_ 😡😡😡😡

@@alexnelson9512I know this is an old posting, but maybe try soaking the end of the wick in melted wax, and compressing it into a thin point as the wax is cooling, so it stays stiff and does not collapse and expand when you try to poke it through the hole.

Many thanks. I will give it a try. It is extremely infuriating, to say the least.
