    Great video any idea what or where I can find the info if the wires have all been taken off without putting them right to the new cap? My engine seems to be exactly what you’re showing there.

    I thought it was the same engine as mine (5.0 GL) but since your distributor is in the front(Ford Engine) and mine is in the back(Chevy Engine). Thanks for the video. Would love to see a video on conversion to fuel injection( ex Holly Sniper EFI).

      Hey Mark! I'm considering something like this in the future. I have an idea-I promise. The 400HP series has a little different angle. Since you are a long time subscribers, I'll give you a interesting detail (not yet published). It will have a Holley 750 CFM, on a a high rise intake. The cam is a custom grind with GT40 heads (meaning they are high performance). This new series is going to be interesting. I'm thinking about going Chevy on the next-next boat. Fuel injection for sure. Stay tuned!

      @@michaelromer2016 I look forward to it. Thanks for the heads-up. I have a 07 Glastron GXL and I have a crap load of hull blisters so I have grounded them down and now im filling them and priming with interrprotect 2000 primer before re gel coating. I'm also repainting the stripes on the side of the boat and then applying new graphics. It's a lot of work but I hope to be done this next week.

      Make sure you press in the button on the center of the lever of your throttle. If not then it will not crank

    Cheers for the videos they are great.
    When you check the oil and power steering I take it the boat or engine is level?

    • @michaelromer2016

      You bring up a good point! Check it while on trailer. You ought to be able to throw a level on the the side to make sure you are level. Thanks Phil

    Michael Can you help me on my boat I have a question why does outside the water has a real good RPMs but I just put it on the lake and it’s only 3000 RPMs And he doesn’t have power What can I do to fix it I have a 5.0 OMC cobra

    • @michaelromer2016
      @michaelromer2016  Před 4 lety +1

      If you have the same issue when it is in neutral, while in the lake--it's engine related. If you have the issue when it is in gear, you have prop issue.

    Great video once you removed the distributor cap and rotor button, what is that part located under the rotor button held down by two screws that has wires coming from the coil?

      In the old days, that would be the points. Those look like some sort of optical points replacement but I don't know the exact name.

      It's called the "pickup coil sensor", it replaces the points and condenser.

    Hello, I appreciate these videos. Today I took my boat out and after about 30 minutes of driving it started backfiring. Then started bogging down to where it wouldn’t accelerate anymore. Then it cut off and wouldn’t start again afterward.
    Any idea as to why this might be happening? I have been on many boat forums but I have not been able to really find anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    • @michaelromer2016
      @michaelromer2016  Před 2 lety +1

      I know this sounds nuts but try and let the boat idle in the yard with water connected and see if it does the same thing in the yard. Also, during that test, randomly adjust the throttle to a higher RPM and see if it backfires. It’s likely related to ignition. Also check the timing - I have a video on it.

      @@michaelromer2016 is there any chance it could be a bad distributor cap causing those issues?
