I want to congratulate you on an awesome tool. I have watched so many videos of how to improve the Harbor Freight tire changer, this is by far my favorite mod. So many others have tried to duplicate it, but I don’t think any have turned out as good as your original. When you first designed and built it using just a tube over tube design, my first thought was why not use internal bearings or something the help tighten it up some, then I saw you post your latest with the brass bushings. Excellent idea. I really love this whole thing. You did good.

I've been trying to devise a way (in my head so far) to motorize these manuel tire changers. I think something like a windshield wiper motor or similar AC geared motor with a sprocket or pulley attached turning a bigger sprocket connected to the movable arm would be enough torque to get the job done. I think it would just come down to figuring out the rpm of the windshield wiper motor and then figuring out what size sprockets would be needed from the motor to the arm in order to have sufficient speed and torque to make it practical. I'm sure that that idea wouldn't work well in a professional application but for a hobbyist or someone that doesn't use one a lot it would probably do the trick.

@@ronw8628 Yeah, I don't like his setup, it just looks too crude to me, it struggles an awful lot. I think I can come up with something better than this.
@@ronw8628 I don't feel like his setup is much for leverage, even though he's using a torque multiplier it pushes more towards the inside of the arm which reduces the amount of leverage you would otherwise have by levering closer to the outside of the arm. I'm thinking of mounting something like a 20" pulley or sprocket on the lever arm and 2" sprocket on a gear reduced AC motor, something with a 100:1 gear reduction or greater. That should bring an 1800 rpm electric motor down to around 6 rpm on the lever which should be enough torque and a controlled speed to do a good job. It's just theory so far but we'll see.
