- Today, we're going to be taking a look at a possible deck profile for the blonde beauty, Joey Wheeler during the events of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX.

I can see Joey and Nightshroud having a Yugi vs Arkana style duel where Joey looks like he's on the ropes and Nightshroud declares himself as the True Master of Red-Eyes and Joey interrupts him by stating he hasn't "seen nuthin' yet" and whips out every new Red-Eyes in his deck.
I see a Joey vs Kaiba duel where Joey meets nightshroud refuses to use it but still keeps it and he loses to Kaiba then he decides to put the mask on and have a rematch maybe trapping him in a shadow game he wins with the red eyes darkness cards
Except that would never happen. Darkness deck has no red eyes cards (he only had them when he took possession of Atticus) and Atticus got rid of his red eyes darkness cards. Joey would never use red eyes darkness cards as they’re antagonist cards.
The only way Joey would even use Darkness Dragon is IF Nightshroud appeared in DM though it be cool to see Blue-Eyes Shining vs Red-Eyes Darkness

Maybe Nightshroud copied his deck. I mean it isn't his true deck and Atticus uses different cards. So maybe he netdecked Joey's deck and called it a day.
It's a well thought out deck, but Lord of the Red would have been his ritual monster if he only could have one. Not only is it a double negate and destroy, but a reminder of his most badass moment against Valon when he BECAME the monster! Just seems to fit him so much more.

I would have had Joey also keep his "Magical Arm Shield" trap card. Saved his ass on more than one occasion so I think he'd stick with it.

I like the deck. since GX is supposedly set 10 years after DM, Joey has more than enough time to reworked his deck, gain more rare, super rare, ultra rare cards, and retool his play style. The gamble deck in battle city was to compensate for Joey’s lack of funds to buy rare, super rare, and ultra rare cards , as well as an FU to his abusive, alcoholic, and gambling addict father
We know how much glory joey gained because by the time of gx he’d gained respect to be in Pegasus’s top 3
Hopefully they make more Red Eyes effect monster variants of Joey’s cards. Red Eyes Flame Swordsman and Red Eyes Thousand Dragon would be awesome

Fun fact. I think Retro Dragon is based on when Joey used Bandit Keith's Time Machine trap to resurrect Red-Eyes Metal Dragon. Sience Retro Dragon does pretty much the same but for multiple Red-Eyes monsters and as a hand trap. And thats not all. In Retro Dragon's card you can see the time machine behind him.
In the manga it's stated Joey took cards from the deck bandit Keith left behind after their duel and he used time machine. (Actually i'm sure he only took time machine and metalmorph.) In the later spin off Yu-Gi-Oh R he used it against bandit Keith. Which caused a little banter between them where Keith called Joey a thief for taking his time machine and Joey defending himself by saying it was fair for him to take it since the cards were abandoned and no one stopped him.

I'd be interested in seeing Jaden or Aster update in the Arc-V setting with the full power of HEROs
Wonder how Jaden is gonna work since he has anime e heroes, manga e heroes, masked heroes and neo spacians also legacy e heroes
You know Jaden doesn't play a competitive version of the HEROES right? He wouldn't be busting Aster's Vision HEROes and ending it on Bane and Dark Law which would be the FULL POWER of the HEROes

Though given Yuri is the reincarnation of Jaden according to his timeline videos would that mean an ARC-V Jaden would be running Starve Venom Fusion Dragon?
My only problem with Joey having darkness dragon and darkness metal is that in the shows lore those are darkness corrupted version of Atticus red eye.

Did Atticus use Red Eyes before being possessed by Darkness/Nightshroud? The Tag Force games always had him using a Beast-Warrior deck although that might've just been for variety
@@jedaye47 that's just for the game in the lore of the show he has always had red eyes and in his final duel we are directly showing him using it as a child.

If Joey tag-teams with Yugi, he would use Yugi's Gaia The Fierce Knight Origin for Fusion Summoning Slash Dragon for a cool combo
Man I really love these and your rewritten gx series, please keep doing what your doing and I've been using these decks and trying to build decks like them (tho I'm pretty bad at it) and they are so much fun, ty for all the hard work
Just imagine Joey having a full power modern red eyes deck today. That’d be pretty insane.
But more than that, there needs to be two and three headed red eyes fusion monsters like Blue Eyes Twin Burst and Ultimate Dragons. Maybe even variants depending on if he uses Alternative Black Dragon as materials, much like blue eyes. And their effects would be all about burn damage, just like a lot of other red eyes monsters.
I'd add in Supermagic Sword of Raptinus, and maybe Supervise, Mordschlag, Hidden Armory or Armory Call, and Release Restraint Wave, along with Raptinus itself. If I think of something else, I'll edit it in.
A Warrior/Red-Eyes deck with Slash Dragon as my ace was my first Duel Links Deck, and I always thought it was a shame Joey never got to play it, so this deck profile fills that hole. And Double-Edged Sword's pretty cool, I've been meaning to work an OTK combo with Volcanic Counter into my Volcanics.

Great video and I really like the choices you made for it. I just wish Giltia the D. Knight Soul Spear made it into this deck as not only it is easy to bring out if joey has an empty field but can also summon a level 7 dark dragon monster or a level 6 dark machine monster (Red-eyes and Jinzo respectively)
The only card that seems an odd choice to me is Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon (And I guess Darkness Metal by extension).
I understand why you'd add that from a game perspective, but from an in-universe perspective, doesn't quite make sense to me, given the cards connection to Atticus Rhodes.

Due to wyverns type and design I always thought it was a red eyes card meant to represent the bond of joey and mai. It being a wind monster with its arms as wings similar to the harpies.
This is a really fun series! Looking forward to more characters, especially Pegasus and Marik since they did have official decks!

Really solid and well thought out list, but it definitely needs the currently OCG only card Giltia the Dark Knight - Soul Spear.
It can search Red Eyes and Jinzo, which is perfect for Joey's updated deck, and has an interesting banish effect. It would also fit the criteria for the Gilti-Gearfried fusion since you can use Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight alongside Giltia Soul Spear, and canonically fit the summoning conditions originally used for Gilti-Gearfried in YGO R. :D
Edit: Just realized two new Red Eyes cards were announced after this video was made that would also fit the deck, particularly Red Eyes Soul since it references Mind-Controlled Joey's duel against Yugi.
Wait a minute where's Swordsman of landstar? That's one of Joey's best cards how could you miss it?!
Better yet, it might be a Tuner Monster, but thinking about makes me realise that would bump his target pool even more (to even include Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon who needs ANY non-Tuner Normal Monster), but what about Comrade Swordsman of Landstar and his Ability to boost all your Warriors' ATK by 400?

Joey having darkness dragon or even darkness metal is kind of out of character for someone like him, but an interesting concept nonetheless.

@@tough2015 I keep forgetting that since no one remembers capsule monsters nor dungeon dice monsters. (I know their trying to expand their game variety, but that’s barely even called expanding if it almost works exactly the same as the addictive card game)

Lord of the Red and its Ritual Spell in the place of Darkness and Darkness Metal considering they were only used when Atticus was using the power of Night Shroud.
100% this. Also, Darkness Metal had a different (worse) effect in the anime that basically made it vanilla Darkness but with higher numbers.
@DarthMohawk it’s not that bad. It has this effect “ You can negate the effect of Spell Cards that target this card. You can discard 1 card to negate the activation and effect of any Spell Card your opponent controls and destroy it.” It’s worse because anime darkness metal dragon requires too much set up. But the effect is not bad. Spell card negate is decent in the modern era.

At this list i would add also Divine Knight Ishzark (one of my fav warrior monster from the manga), Dragonic Knight (Chazz manga monster), Golem Dragon and Kidmodo Dragon.
Return Of The Dragon Lords, Dragon Shrine, Supermagic Swords Of Raptinus and Lightning Storm for spell cards, Sixth Sense, Necro Fusion for trap cards. 😁👌🏻

Honestly would be cool to see Joey duel and appear in GX or atleast a monster based off him like Kaibaman is to Kaiba. Imagine Jaden, Hassleberry, Bastion, and Syrus running into Joey during the field trip to Domino City imagine the duel hell imagine the duel he and Jaden would have or imagine Chazz dueling Joey since Chazz is pretty much a mixture between Joey and Kaiba character wise.

A really nice deck format for our favorite underdog of the series. But I only got one question. Where's Lord of the Red? That Ritual monster is a great addition to the Red Eyes deck, serving as both a double negate and a good attack monster on the field.
Still a very nice deck profile. I would like to see what Tea would have in store for the new eras, like Syncro or Xyz. Have a good day/night, and stay safe out there
My favorite Joey's trap card is Graverobber. Saved him a few times from Duelist Kingdom to Battle City.
i am surprised you didn't add monster reborn. It was a staple in his time and the GX era i believe. Also, it has synergy with his other cards, being able to bring back his red eyes monsters. One monster reborn raises his win rate by more than 200%.

Seeing this video and then the 2023 AI video of Marik using Sacred Beasts vs Joey’s modern red eyes deck. Epic
Very good deck, almost an exact copy of my own Red-Eyes deck in Legacy of the Duelist Link Evolution. The only difference is I added Xyz monsters like Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon and Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon. Also if you get two copies of Xiangke Magician, or one it doesn't matter, then you can add Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon to a Red-Eyes deck. It's actually quite easy to summon with Flare Metal Dragon's effect to revive a normal monster from the graveyard.

I would really like to see you do GX character decks If they were in Arc-V like Jaden, Chazz or Zane and see how It would turn out also i really like your Channel keep up the good work
with Konami printing all this cool new support for cards from the original series. It be cool to see the company that did dark side of dimensions go back and redo some of the early Yugioh seasons as movies. Imagine dawn of the duel uncensored and in movie quality. That or put them in charge of a sort of Yugioh shippuuden esc series that takes place during GX but focuses on the original cast. That way you can introduce all these new support cards to the anime and keep the modern Yugioh format intact.
I think Dark Crusader would be a nice addition since he likes to boost up his warriors. Plus, its a nice discard boost.
I'm likely going to be picking up the Inferno Fireblast spell card.

Graceful dice had a different effect in the show, it could only work on cards under 1000 I believe why he never used it on he's big cards for a big attack...... Btw great video.... Ps more gx story please

Funny story: my cousin and I, who were *HUGE* YGO nerds back in the day (not that that's changed; I *am* here, after all), had a kind of fanfic-y idea in-between seasons of GX where we thought Joey should be hired at Duel Academy to replace Professor Banner as head of the Slifer Red dorm. While the majority of these cards didn't exist back then, this vid kind of makes that old dream seem just a bit closer to reality. Thanks for the nostalgia, my dude!

One, darkness metal specials summons cards from the hand as well, inferno and cards of red stone I understand are red eyes support but it will more than likely still brick his hands and even if he wanted to they can’t be searched due to not being “Red-Eyes” cards, I do like the deck profile though because it is interesting. Edit: You will have to use poly or red eyes fusion when you have the lighting on the field due to it being a gemini monster and does not count as a normal monster so it’s going to be hard to pull off for archfiend black skull dragon

Inferno fire blast technically the original attack depends on which card is used for instance inferno fire blast works for any creature that has the name red eyes black dragon and red eyes fusion changes any red eyes fusion name to red eyes black dragon

Power of the Guardians is a perfect side deck complement to Red-Eyes Slash Dragon since it allows it have more negates, and extra destruction protection esp. if he plays the Time Wizard fusion and main deck monster
I would added Ampifler in Joey's deck that way when he have jinzo on the field he can use trap cards and the claw of hermos if he still have the fusion monsters can be used with it

Since Aster Phoenix's birthday coming how about an updated Destiny Hero Deck a mixture of both GX and Arc V series plus new Destiny Hero cards too.

I can't be the only one imaging what the characters reaction's to just walking up to them one day for no reason and just handing them these cards, it's up to each person to decide if they are alone when this happens and if you tell them anything about where and why you are doing this and where you come from.
What about the claw of hermos card with its fusion cards
It might be a hot take but I think you should’ve included some sort of metal morph It was important enough for Joey to run a red eyes metal dragon which is out dated now. But I don’t think it’s a bad trap to have it helps in most situations
Edit: I should probably clarify it doesn’t have to be specifically metal morph but it can be any rendition of the multiple types there are

In a scripted duel with Joey and Ishizu, Red-Eyes Alternative Black Dragon was given to Joey, by Kaiba, who said he didn't want it. So it definitely belongs in a modern Joey Deck.
Red-Eyes has the cooler artwork, for an alternative, by a long shot.
This Duel took place at a national tournament, I think. Maybe a qualifier.

Where are the legendary dragons in your story?
Do you have a plan to introduce them later or are you keeping with the fact that during the DM era, they returned to the monster realm and disappeared?
Can you do an arc v version of Alisa? I really think she’s undersupported in the anime and she would’ve had a more significant role if blackwings weren’t so popular in the TCG. I think she should’ve came back in arc v instead of Crow, and it would be cool to see a potential deck for her!
This is all great, but I think you're forgetting a little about Joey.
He wins duels using his insane luck. Which, fun fact btw, he actually had a 50%/50% win rate through the series;)
True his win rate is 50/50 but his gambling is more like 99% accurate since the time he failed time wizard against Bonz is the only time his gamble luck failed him.

Joey did confirm in the movie that his deck is red eyes centered and warriors. Not so much magic these days so that's great.

So I'm trying to make this deck in Yu-Gi-Oh legacy of the Duelist link evolution. And I'm trying to figure out how many copies of either monster or spell or trap I should have for the deck

What exactly is the working definition of GX-era here, because several of those cards weren't around during GX, hence Keeper of Dragon Magic referring to an Extra Deck and including a restriction that doesn't make sense in an era where the Fusion deck only held Fusion monsters.

BTW why not give the updated fusion of the baby dragon Now I want to know which kind of Deck Yuri would use if he is throw to the Arc-V era
If you fusion summon Meteor Black Comet Dragon via Red-Eyes Fusion, it will have it's name changed to "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" while on the field, thus you can use Inferno Fire Blast to inflict 3500 points of damage to your opponent instead of 2400. Furthermore Meteor Black Comet Dragon inflicts effect damage too when fusion summoned, allowing you to inflict ridiculous amounts of effect damage to your opponent.
I’d like to point out that if Joey had DMD in his deck, it’d have the anime effect. Also the anime version of Graceful Dice only works on monsters with less than 1000 attack. That’s why Swordsman of Landstar was the main target of the card.
