Difficult question. The short answer is maybe. Scoliosis is a condition of the spine, you expect assymetry. There is little that can change the alignment of the spine, and that's okay for many. Scapula diskinesia is a movement asymmetry of the scapulothoracic joint, which does articulate directly with the shoulder joint (glenohumeral joint), and technically is a different pseudo-joint to the spine itself. These exercises may affect both the spine or scapula, but will directly affect the scapula, and indirectly the spine. So if your shoulder pain is coming from scapula biomechanics, then it makes sense to introduce some sort of scapula exercise/intervention. If it is not, then it makes little sense to target this area. Importantly, both scoliosis and scapula diskinesia can be present without pain, if this is the case there's a relatively strong argument to leave the asymmetry as is, as it is subclinical. This decision should be made in liaison with your physical/physiotherapist, or even some doctors that have a good knowledge of the musculoskeletal system
Absolutely does! For me training my rear delt for stability and engaging my lag more while doing shoulders fixed my shoulder pain 99% in just like 2 months
Crazy this Is you can see how dominant his left shoulder had been for so long because of how much bigger it is than his right. Very informative and thank you for the info
I have this issue cause I shattered my right collarbone a few years ago. Think I'm fucked for life tbh Edit: actually I've had enough of my negative bullshit mindset. I'll keep striving to get better and not give up
I have been waiting for you to revisit this topic. I have been doing scapular pull-ups but still feel mainly on my right. Overtime it has gotten better but I think a unilateral workout will really boost my progress. Thank you for your work
Appreciate you doc. Was wondering what was causing this shoulder tightness and these exercises make a big difference!! I can finally go to parade rest without pain 😭
Thanks so much for this- I have this exact issue! Aggravated pain through the front of my shoulder and bicep with T2B & snatch and I realized recently it’s because my lats are weak and I have a hard time engaging them. I will add this to my programming!
I have the same problem with lat pull downs, I only feel my left lat contract while it feels like I’m fighting my right shoulder with every rep. I can’t seem to get my right lat to engage, definitely will give these a try 👍
You can also hang then squeeze you scapulas together. Once there check your upper traps that they are not at your ear. Just hang with proper posture while strengthening your back.
Hey could you do a video on what may be causing a pinching/impingement issue when doing something like monkey bars? Seems like it may be similar to this, an imbalance, but its certainly not a dramatically visible one like this lol
I've always been in sports till after highschool and an athlete but I feel sports coaches do not notice these imbalances as long as u perform well in the sport. and now in my 20's the bad form has started to show one pectoral bigger one bicep one lat. Idc about aesthetics much but having one sided form is causing major issues now. thank u guys for the informative training tips
I have not so severe scoliosis so my right lower trap is tiny, while my left is pretty huge, my right shoulder is also noticeably unstable. so I think this will be very helpful, thanks!
oh dude this is a lifesafer. I tore my supraspinatus and another one several years back and always had uneven shoulders after. I even thought one of my shoulders were dislocated slightly and tried to pop it back in. What helped me build stability and reduce pain was the reverse flies and balancing on the gymnast rings slightly. Can't wait to test this out.
Same problem here, thanks for the solving; but when I workout I always focus on the shoulder to keep it down and I hang always in front of a mirror to see the difference and to hold it even.
My shoulders are def uneven and I've noticed it since a few years ago when I started paying more attention to my body. The left shoulder is higher up, to the point that collars will be uneven because the left trap is higher than the right one. Also I keep falling to the right side in abs exercises
He should go to a chiropractor a few times. I have winged scapula and this looks pretty similar. I went to the chiro and literally felt like a new person with how much they cleared out my shoulder blade area. Also have to do this pt type stuff too of course
I too feel my left side is stronger when doing pull ups, so I use assited pull up machine and do pull ups with only my right hand a few sets. This has help me do more reps when using both hands
Its clear from the video that the chap has a mild scoliosis with leftwards convexity. That is the main cause. He need more than just this fix but a whole body core and structure muscular strenghtening routine.
He also has underdeveloped left rear delt which is common in western society because of overuse of right hand. I have to say even car driver seat configuration favors right side shoulder development. Most western people lean to the right when they drive. Causes left shoulder to come in. In some cars will not allow left shoulder to sit back and down because of car roof and sidewall. Also causes right glute development and left glute underdevelopment; same goes for calves
I also have uneven shoulders and after some x-rays my doctor diagnosed me with mild scoliosis. Weird thing is that my shoulders pop quite a bit on every movement I do with lateral dumbell raises for example, even with the lightest weight possible. When the pop happens, it feels weird as if mt body shouldn't feel that way and the doctor dismissed it by saying that it's "normal" and by safely increasing the muscle mass in my shoulder area that it would supposedly stop!?
I mean poping isn’t always bad, joints pop when gas is released from movement but if its hurting you go to a physical therapist not a doctor looking to give you meds
The truth of the matter is that nobody has symmetric muscles. Everyone should eventually identify their own asymmetry and learn to work the right or left sides differently.
Just concentrate on pulling more with ur weaker side and less with ur stronger side so then ur balanced, this is what I did on benchpress to gain stability
I have the same issue too. It could also be due to the uneven hips which causes unevenness in the shoulders too
Same here
How do you fix that?
I have uneven hips due to muscle weakness from birth. I'd love to know how modern medicine and exercise could help with this.
@@BlacKJacKNeXusGamingsurprise surprise - the McGill big three! Using a massage ball on tight hips can help too
Same here.
I have exactly this with my shoulder, it happend with me through boxing. Always throwing the jab develops your back so much more then your cross.
Same issue with my right arm, I'm a southpaw
Woah me too I am a southpaw 😭😭😭😭 my right midtrap doesnt contract like his and my right shoulder gets sore
Man, exactly the same issue from boxing
Fr
I try to always throw as many jabs with my left as my right. Balance is key. Bruce lee
Thank you, been to multiple PTs and they don’t give as good advice as you. Really appreciate it
Most pt are just on there phone the whole time do this and this and I’ll come check on you
Appreciate this so much!
Can this be useful for scoliosis? I have uneven shoulders and lots of resistance bands and I am happy that I've just discovered your channel❤
They have many shorts about scoliosis . Search a bit U r gonna find them quickly
I’m curious about this too
same boat! please let me know if you get an answer
Switching masturbating hand kinda helps ❤

You're welcome
@@SquatUniversity Is that ankle to bar hang bad for the lower back?
Been dealing with a similar issue. Did this help mitigate the shoulder pain he was feeling?
Absolutely does! For me training my rear delt for stability and engaging my lag more while doing shoulders fixed my shoulder pain 99% in just like 2 months
We need some videos on rhomboid scapular pain
Crazy this Is you can see how dominant his left shoulder had been for so long because of how much bigger it is than his right. Very informative and thank you for the info
This man is a treasure
This is so good. Thank you Dr !
Thanks for the program at the end! Love this channel
I’ve had a fucked shoulder since birth (thanks Doc). I remember doing this in physical therapy when I was a youngin. This helps alot
I have this issue cause I shattered my right collarbone a few years ago. Think I'm fucked for life tbh
Edit: actually I've had enough of my negative bullshit mindset. I'll keep striving to get better and not give up
The human body is not symmetrical. I think the correct approach is to not give a fuck and train.
Literally every person should subscribe to this channel. Each video I’ve seen is straight gold
A thing thats worth observing is that this guy is well built and still ended up with this
Thanks for this great information! 💪
I am so grateful for your videos. Immensely helpful, thank you.

Love your videos. Thanks for the education!

Respect, thank you for helping loads of people
This is exactly what I needed, my shoulders are so uneven, thank you so much

Love the last pic with all the instructions! Legend
I don't think it's said enough but you guys are amazing. Thank you for sharing knowledge!
Super professional intervention
I definitely took a screen shot to add this to my warm up or cool down. Great tips!
Love your vids and reels brother, super pro and crystal clear
Really appreciate the routine at the end! I'll be using that now to help my right shoulder 😁
I have the same problem. Thanks for video!
Thank you so much for doing what you do!
You do such amazing work bro. I love these videos so much
Thank you very much. Had this same problem, and was wondering why and how to fix if

Crazy thank you Im currently recovering from a shoulder injury Im definitely gonna do this exercise 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This video changed my life. Thank you so much this literally fixed everything for me
This was incredible.
So fast so much better
I have the same problem with lat pull downs, I only feel my left lat contract while it feels like I’m fighting my right shoulder with every rep. I can’t seem to get my right lat to engage, definitely will give these a try 👍
Holy crap I needed this.
Thanks for the video! Should these exercises be performed on both arms or just the one that is unstable?
Dude genuinely, thank you.
First time I found a video about this, my right shoulder is smaller than my right, the bone is different...Thank you for this. Helps a lot
That’s really cool how you figured that out.
Do you do all exercises on 2 sides
You can also hang then squeeze you scapulas together. Once there check your upper traps that they are not at your ear. Just hang with proper posture while strengthening your back.

I have uneven shoulders at rest and also have right mid back pain which could be my lower trap. Would these exercises help? Thanks Nick
Wow I have the same issue too! I’ll be sure to try this

We all know why that shoulder is stronger
Lol you know from experience
well that would mean he's left handed because the video shows his right side is actually weaker
Love. Knowledge is power

Omg this is so me, thanks!
Having scoliosis, idek what to do, most of my left side doesn't even activate. It's sucks.
Why Stephen A dancing in the background TV?

If his right side shoulder is higher than left one, than which side of lower trap should he train more??

How often do you think i should perform these exersizes? Is twice a week okay?
bro looks like a muscular young sheldon
Thank you so much❤
I’ve got some uneven weird thing with my pullup. Feels like I pull my body towards my right side and then up. I’m going to try this out!
Do you recommend doing this only to the higher side, twice a week as a warm up?
Dang I wanna go work with this dude so bad
The truth of the matter is that nobody has symmetric muscles. Everyone should eventually identify their own asymmetry and learn to work the right or left sides differently.
May I ask how much time it actually took him to correct the asymmetry? Thanks 🙏
How long did this take til correcting or was it just a quick fix like a warm up?
What's the time scale on this level of improvement?
How do you animate this skeleton? What app are you using?
Do anyone knows?
Thank you very much in advance.
Bro had smack down on
Gonna give this a try my left shoulder site higher than my right and the pain during shoulder presses is irritating
Do you have any videos like this for people who have a leg that is slightly shorter than the other?
And he’s got quite the farmer’s tan.
Dude I have that too I feel discomfort performing certain movements
Should credit Andrew Lock for the row
I have something like this too. I do feel it around the middle of my back, but haven't noticed asymmetry yet.
Do you have any exercises that don't involve me buying a gym membership?
I have the exact same injuries and issues...so exercise you gave him is to do in only one side ? Correct
I have this same issue. (But from years of wearing a messenger bag)
Just concentrate on pulling more with ur weaker side and less with ur stronger side so then ur balanced, this is what I did on benchpress to gain stability
Day in and day out my right shoulder is never symmetrical with the left. I will Def try this tomorrow ✌️
I’ve got the same issue I’m going to try incorporate this into my back workout thank you in advance🙏🏼
You're welcome! Glad to help!
will this work for pain in the back of the shoulders as well?
This one's for me, thanks
Broooo thank you!
I need you in my life 😂
