- Elliot finds Mobley and Trenton dead and everything around him seems to be falling apart he runs into Mohammad where he relives his child hood past times at a cinema.
From Mr Robot Season 3 Episode 8 "eps3.7_dont-delete-me.ko"
Elliot tells Darlene that nothing, from drugs to therapy to voluntarily placing himself in jail, is keeping Mr. Robot at bay, saying that the world falling apart around him is his fault. He puts his affairs in order by giving his dog to his neighbour, throwing his Mr. Robot jacket away, and going to Trenton and Mobley's families to pay his respects. Elliot buys a lethal amount of morphine pills and heads to Coney Island to commit suicide, but is deterred by Mohammad, Trenton's younger brother, whom Elliot is forced to look after when his parents leave him alone. After Mohammad leaves a movie that Elliot takes him to and goes to a mosque, he is confronted by Elliot, who admits that he wishes he was dead. After dropping Mohammad back off at his home, he goes to Angela's apartment and reminds her of a "wishing game" they used to play as kids, which gives Elliot the will to live. After arriving home, getting the jacket back, and reinstalling his computer, he notices a message sent from Trenton before her death saying that there is a way to undo the hack.

The kid saving Elliot's life by being there and forcing him to take care of him for a day really resonated with me
It's elliot really convincing and justifying himself to live, he sees himself as the kid which reminded his alter of why elliot created him for a small time, and showed himself he's capable of giving the love and trust his father never gave him, the kid was the ultimatum of his existence, flashing back up when things seemed overwhelming as this version of elliot was too angry, his alter wanted to give up but the kid debugged elliot decision and reminded he wanted to leave something left for elliot and other people he empathises with.
Point is the kid trusted elliot to do what he wanted, Eliot went out of his way because he felt responsibility, a responsibility his family couldn't take for elliot himself, ofcourse he's altering what he remembers and restricting access to certain memories but this version exists to make the plan and is the protector of everyone elliot cares about, Mr robot himself is more of a personal protector of elliot. Its one of the reasons of the lack of sight over characters like Angela which got her killed, Mr robot himself didn't have that connection so it didn't think to see the outcome coming
Its also the reason Mr robot himself only figured out Darlene was the key to getting through to him at the end but the mastermind here had those memories of everything elliot values, even though he blurs out the why in his mental prison to protect himself
@@Chloe_Heather I like this interpretation of Elliot caring just enough about himself to find the will to live but I'm pretty sure the kid was real, Mohammed doesn't appear as any of Elliot's alters when "Krista" reveals the truth to him, and the person working box tells him that he saw a kid leave the theatre. Elliot sees the woman removing her shoes at the door which made him think to go to the masjid, and Elliot tells Olivia that he promised a little kid to go to the movies with him.
It resonates with me because the same thing has happened to me
@@void_4871 the kids real, but the point is he cares, even though he doesn't have to, allowing himself to open up just a tiny bit. he doesn't want to care, he doesn't even know why.
Remember he closes off the bonds he made with people, Angela, his co-workers etc, even his original hacking squad, altering the memory enough, he forgot Darlene was his sister as a mechanism, the man is almost cut of from everyone again, but when he feels his own mind is allowing him to see something he couldn't, he cries, he can see a small glimpse of why he's angry
Otherwise the mastermind would be a cold calculated persecutor for elliot, he would forget about connecting to Darlene and be lost I think, btw this is a pretty convoluted way of looking at it from the perspective from the last season, I get its just another perspective on the character of elliot, the scary thing in the show is we can never be sure what elliot is really thinking, as we the audience are the "friend" aka the real elliot in the story, so the ideas about Eliot reality is just as confusing to us some of the time as much as it is for the mastermind
@@Chloe_Heather ohhh I see what you mean then. It gives a whole new meaning to Elliot crying when he promises Mohammed that he'll take him to see the Martian
"I promised one boy that I'll take him to watch The Martian"
That scene was amazing
I almost cry 😢
He never did sadly
@@-antares_ That we know of
"Where were you born?"
"Trenton"
The chills, man
Most feels of the entire show for me, hands down.
Back again a year later...still love that scene and that line line. How there's just a moment of silence while Eliot looks at him, and thinks "ah...everything she was trying to do makes perfect sense now." Love the conversation leading up to it, how the city name represents what she chose to be all about, and what he dreams of for the future, and how they're the same hope.
This episode and Bojack Horseman's 'View From Halfway Down' are some of the best anti-suicide pieces of media I've ever seen
Rami Malek was in Bojack too.
I'd say "Don't delete me" is more anti-escapism than it is anti-suicide
the episode is called literally "don't delete me" in reference to Elliot wanting to OD on morphine.
also House md season 6 the first episode
Jesus I agree
That “So do I” response came out so naturally and authentic like you could really feel Elliot’s pain and depression. As some who struggles with severe depression and ideations myself, it is so relatable because that is how I would’ve responded verbatim to someone if they ever told me they’d wish I were dead.
4:13
This kid is a hero...... he saved elliot
may seem annoying at first but these people are just invested in your state
"Will I see you again?"
My hands were soaking wet from all the tears coming out of my eyes, before Elliot even started crying.
I know first hand how much this can mean to you when you feel as depressed as Elliot. When you close yourself off from people to avoid getting hurt, you are about to give up on life because you don't see the purpose anymore, and when you least expect it... someone suddenly gives you a purpose again in life, just because they want to be with you.
My god. Not a single movie or TV show has ever made me feel the way Mr Robot does. Never in my life would I have thought I'd find a show better than breaking bad, BY MILES, personally for me ofcourse.
I can talk about this show all day, any day. Best show I've ever seen in my entire life. Period.
I had a very similar experience to Elliot. Mohammed asking if he can see Elliot again resonates deeply with me because sometimes, you can't realize how much other people care for you and it hits hard when you notice that they do.
So, we can be a best friends ❤
The reason why this episode is shot slightly differently from the others is because this is the one episode where the characters actually connect with one another as opposed to being alienated.
One of the few scenes you actually got two characters talking in the same quadrant of the shot. Makes them feel more connected
One of the most emotional scenes in the series for me
For me too
Gota admit the one where he made that guide feel so shitty hirt to watch
Season 4 ep 7
That part when he brought him a lollipop warm my heart. One of my favorite episodes.
That moment when you realize that kid is a better actor than 90% of the teen drama actors nowadays
This is my favorite episode of the series. It helped me a lot & I still turn to it whenever I feel let down by life. Elliot realizing that he cannot give up and saying "maybe there are still things left for me to do" was so important. Everything about this episode is perfect - the music, the cinematography, the dialogue and especially the overall message. The show is over but I don't think I'll ever be able to let go.
I fucking cried when I saw him crying when he left because I’ve been there before. It’s that moment when a family member or friend checks up on you when you’re genuinely in a tough spot where you forget people do care about you.
Couldn't agree with you more. Idk about you guys but this episode was an intense one because it was the first one that he seriously had suicidal ideations and already planning it. And as a person who has been there and received the same type of "little gesture of love and kindness" from people who remind me they love me... It was a strong episode because I've been in that "emotional" state.
@@thegrinningreaper8016 I perceive it as more than a check-up, the point that a beautiful bond with someone can happen unexpected like this.
Not to take away from your point, I completely understand the intention and am so insanely grateful whenever I feel that spark these days.
Absolutely agree. Whenever i get really depressed this is my go to episode. Ive been in elliots shoes in regards to this one.
Eu também não, já tem alguns anos re assisti ele mais uma vez esse ano.
I'm dumb haha.
I Just understood why the camera focused on the woman taking off her shoes... This is what gave Elliot the idea to go look for a mosque in order to find the little kid.
he lost the kid so he's looking for the kid, the couple took him back to childhood
@@kahlur It's because the little boy is a muslim, and in mosque, you are not allowed to wear shoes.
I am so much dumber that I did not even have any kind of....anything on your level friend. I just let it slowly devastate me in a way I enjoyed.
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@August Chad Instablaster =)
I was not prepared for this masterpiece of an episode. Before I knew it I was remembering when I considered deletion, ready to give up, and then a random thing distracted me and shook me back to perspective. That moment of panic. "Are you sure?". I found reasons to go on, and now, years later, I'm still here. The wife I never would have met had I not changed my mind came into the room, hearing me sobbing after seeing this episode, and held me. My little cat, concerned at my distress, came over and was meowing at me. All these riches I never would have had had I given up. There are still things for me to do. Thank you, cast and crew of Mr Robot, for crafting something lovely. And thank all of you strangers, for listening. In time, everything will be all right.
"strange, isn't it? each man's life touches so many other lives. when he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"
i agree with you
This is literally my favorite episode of any TV show
4x7 ?
"i wish you were dead" "so do i" relatable
I posted the same thing. As someone who struggles with severe depression and suicidal ideations the way he responded was how I would respond to someone if they told me they’d wish I were dead. That scene really hit home for me.
Did anyone else notice that the entire episode was shot like a movie?
Yeah, it's kinda weird after all previous episodes without the top and the bottom black frame. And i feel like in this episode more scene of Elliot in the middle of the screen
Evidently, if Trenton's brother was hallucinated it is also one of the only episodes where Elliot is kind to himself.
The episode was nostalgic that’s why they shot the episode like that, amazing episode by the way.
Same with Season 4 Episode 7
Yup. The episode starts off in normal 16 x 9 aspect ratio. Then when young [Elliot] takes his seat in the movie theater and watches the policy trailer roll, the aspect ratio slowly changes. By the time the Mr. Robot intro hits, the screen aspect has become Cinemascope.
The ice cream car driver was already prepared for COVID-19
XD
Yes
I just hope it ends like how he describes "War of the Worlds"
Before the pandemic they were no reference to covid, i think it was amazing because of the culture that's fit with the precedent of covid unlike those references in the culture before the crisis.
The Jewish man knowing the mosques and having friends at both always gets me. Jews and Muslims are stereotyped being enemies (understandably so sometimes). Yet here is a guy whose friends with them, and also so willing to help a total stranger looking for the mosques. A true kind community man.
I think it’s mostly just the extremists that hate each other in the real world.
Muslims hate Zionists, we have no problem with Jews. For long period of time we lived yoga across the Middle East peacefully
Maybe because it's an actor and not a real man 😅
Muslims hate Americans your thinking of the Germans
@@NEMA95 people like that exist. its easy to think of life as bleak when its all you see on tv/online media. speaking as someone whos muslim with jewish friends.
The beauty about mr. Robot is our perception of reality is blurred in Elliot's perspective. But it paints a whole new perspective on how we look at the things around us. It opens our minds. That's why I love Mr. Robot.
Nothing more beautiful to me than the kid’s innocent curiousity and how their conversations go from this.
Having a younger brother (nephews in my case) or any kind of lil man show interest in you and idolize you in some small way is something that is really hard to explain the meaning of when you’re in the worst place
i still cry like a baby when Trenton's brother gives hime the lollipop
"because you said you were sick." One of my favourite scenes of Mr Robot and I cry every time and I'm on a bus... gets right there ... great performance from both actors 👏 👌 👍 🙌 xx
Spoilers: I'm really sad that the Mastermind and Mohammad weren't able to see "The Martian" together before the end... but this unknown goodbye was pretty good.
it's likely that they could go see the martian together, elliot has DID (and this show doesn't do an awful job of accuracy to DID) so all the alters would still be a part of him. Assuming at the end he gets proper therapy all the alters could co-exist. Kinda a shame it didn't come up in the show though.
I think the last episode was left for interpretation for the viewers of what happens next which I really like cause it gets your imagination going.
I feel Elliot will be a lot better off and after enough time he probably will keep his promise :)
Elliot and the mastermind are interchangeably in control throughout the series. It's not one or the other. This is evident from their mannerisms, goals and temperaments. Notice especially the way in which Elliot's personality shifts drastically during season 4. The unprocessed trauma is piling up so the real Elliot retreats more and more into himself and Mastermind take away more and more control
I firmly believe that the real Elliot was present throughout this scene! The mastermind personality doesn't express extremely negative emotions. He pushes them to the back of his head since his single purpose is to bring about a better world for Elliot. This extremely emotional and introspective Elliot is the real Elliot. No doubt in my mind. What confuses people is the blurry and unannounced change from Mastermind to Elliot and vise versa and to make things worse, one is not in complete control at any given time. It's very much fluid in that respect. Take for example his conversation with Angela at the door of her apartment. Mastermind may have been present to some degree but the real Elliot was in the front seat in that instance.
Mohammad isn’t real go rewatch the episode. Pretty sure it’s just Robot helping Elliot
@@oheldenring6937 He's definitely real. The theater guy said he saw him get out and wasn't a part of his delusion. Mr Robot didn't help him here, and this definitely wasn't one of his alters, because Krista in Elliot's head never mentioned Mohammad as a "temporary" alter to the mastermind.
probably the best mr robot episode that I've seen.
It was very emotional and cinematic.
Amazing story writing and direction
Anytime I lose hope I come here
How ya doing now? Hopefully good
"You know you talk about yourself alot. And you're not allowed to wear shoes here"
Esmail is such a great writer, telling us so much with so little. The Mosque is a holy place of worship to a transcendent God. In Sufism there's a concept called Fana, a state of annihilation of the self, or ego death, to achieve union with the divine. I bring it up because it's a great example of how Islamic spirituality generally does not look fondly upon the ego and it's desires. Elliot is too self absorbed in his own struggle to have even realized his transgression and tremendous offense.
If this was a fake interaction, the Lollipop is his brain giving him the serotonin as a reward for not taking the drugs.
This episode was the most beautiful episode overall. It brought me to tears.
Elliot wanted to kill himself in this episode. It was Trenton's brother and later on, Trenton (she sent the email), that saved his life
Hey Beethoven ;)
Lost count how many times this series made me cry.
This episode was shot interestingly, the centering of the frame on Elliot points to something different going on. If nothing else, what's clear is that this is one of the only episodes where Elliot is kind to himself, whether the boy is real or not.
Just an interesting characterization choice for an interesting episode. If he isn't real, then Elliot was able to do something for himself that he hadn't done since his father died. Perhaps in this case it is better if the boy were not real. :)
I'd love to have a cool Jewish grandpa to drive me around in his ice cream truck and talk with me about philosophy!
Love this moment in Mr. Robot
I know! The way he talks and having Muslim friends made him so wholesome! ❤
"Where were you born?"
"Trenton."
Love that.
@Jake It is a nickname. She used that nickname because her brother was born there.
I still have th scar in my heart from the moment I saw this scene. Wanna see it?
I love how elliot just stopped his movement, he was shocked to listen to the name
@Jake did u not watch the show? Mobley and Trenton's real name were posted on the news, newspaper and online article. Did u think Mr Robot is Elliots real name too
@Jake You obviously didn't watch the show but had the audacity to correct people. What an idiot.
And I just realized that Trenton was her hacker handle oh...
Ahhh, the soundtrack is so versatile
I think it's interesting how there really is an obvious difference between how tv and movies are filmed. This episode looks so strange because it's shot like a movie.
This is probably my favorite episode of the show.
This is my favorite episode of the show. It's weird how similar it is to Bojack Horseman's "Fish Out Of Water" episode but i love that one too.
this episode got me. even the use of the song "in time" (which was from bill and ted right?) was excellent.
This episode is beautifully created by Sam esmail
Beautiful cinematography
Kid's literally saved his life. I'm waiting on somebody to save mine except that day never seems to come.
that's because you never told anybody, nobody *knows* why they'll be saving you from
I still think about this episode sometimes.. Most emotion-provoking episode I've ever seen
2:50.... “so do I”.... yeah it gets awkward whenever that’s said.. that’s what people don’t realise.
it doesn't, he referred it to himself.. just meant that he wished he was dead too because of what he did..
So, Mr. Robot kinda predicted, Libra criptocurrency, Iran conflict, and I didn't remembered it, but well this guy with the mask...
i don't know how to describe this episode, let alone scene. It always hits me
so cinematic 😩...and rami maleks acting 😩...everything about this show is sensational
damn this little brat saved him fallin in a drug addiction again... he showed him what real love and happiness means.
He was not going to take the pills to get high, he was going to commit suicide.
Drug Addiction? Dude, he was gonna kill himself. The hole point of the episode is Elliot finding something to live for. Even in 4x03 episode he tells Olivia that he didn't do it because he promised a little kid that later they would go to the movies. THIS IS IT.
Damn ok I didnt get that... thanks guys!

Have you noticed how the windows are condemned and we can see suitcases and big trashed all around the house... so it feels like the house is abandoned no? Wait, isn't anyone going to ask why the ice cream van driver is wearing a mask driving by himself then takes it off when Elliot is in the passenger seat?
He's not the only one wearing a mask, other scenes have ppl with them on too. It's because of smoke from waste burning after 5/9 hack and societal collapse, but yeah, kind of prophetic.
