"CHEAP DREAM SEQUENCE ENDING". Same as in "Newhart" from the '80s or a million other POORLY WRITTEN stories. "Didn't happen, just a dream thanks for playing LOL". CHEAP DREAM SEQUENCE ENDINGS happen when writers get bored & run out of ideas, the story gets too stale to continue with and everyone involved just wants to dump it on the side of the road and move on. SCREEECH. THUD! Bye Eliot. Vroooom... This cop-out of an ending can be used on literally ANY STORY EVER TOLD. This is literally the POLAR OPPOSITE of a "great ending" and is actually the WORST CASE SCENARIO. Don't believe me? It's OK. You'll be old enough to have seen a few hundred of them in a few years. J/K You didn't even read my comment. You were dreaming the whole time. See? Didn't that feel CHEAP? I bet it made you feel like a hawt lesbian FBI agent with a one way ticket to Budapest who didn't even really want to go to begin with, but was only going to be with your girlfriend who got bored and wandered off forever... Didn't it? Don't worry, she wasn't even real. It was all just a dream, silly.

The absolute brilliance in this 6minutes of runtime. 1. The writing setup for Vera's masterplan to be broken down by Mr Robot as a metaphor for the entire basis of this show: destroying the matrix. My favorite part about this is that everything that he said was absolutely true, it applies entirely in real life. Which is crazy and scary to think about. 2. Vera's observation of the mastermind's absolute genius and terrifyingly powerful hatred for the elite/matrix that is the fuel to all the fire we've seen in the show up to this point. 3. The comedic banter and chemistry between them lol. Apart from all the serious topics and darkness of the episode, you always get some funny lines from Vera that do not take away from the darkness and mood of the show, which is why he is in my top 3 favorite villains of TV of all time. "this aint about being no landlord, bruh!" 🤣

Rewatching the series and knowing that Mr. Robot is another personality of Elliott makes the scene on the stairs so much deeper. Elliott is trying to get through to himself, to convince himself of what he already knows, deep down, that Sheila is already dead. But denial is a powerful part of guilt.

THis series started off really good but after season 1 it took a nose dive and got progressively more bizarre and over the top unrealistic.

People seem to be confused, this isn't the Mr Robot persona, it's his actual dad, his dad was good most of the time, how do we know? Because in the pictures he looks back on with him and his dad he seems like a fun father, which is why it hurts knowing the darker side of him, it's realistic because abuser's can seem like normal people. Also we know its his father because the guy interacts with him and not Mr Robot through Elliot otherwise the dialogue wouldn't make sense

I just realized I had a classmate at film school that made a short film EXACTLY like this scene. The difference is that the main character was a Woman in her 20’s that was abused as a child and now tracks abusers as if she was a vigilante or something, but almost everything happens just like in the scene lol

For anyone who's curious - yes, all of this was shot on location in Times Square. None of this is green screen or CGI, especially when Elliot is all alone in Times Square. Having lived in NYC myself during the years this show was made, Times Square really does get that empty at night sometimes, and it's fucking _haunting_ .

I was already enjoying the show up to this point, but when THIS episode hit, wow, everything changed.

Li Shang really went like "yeah, I can do it better than Mulan"

Something to note was just how realistic and how kuch effort went into making the technical aspects of the cybersecurity content realistic. Some of the tools, even that last line about finding the encrypted configuration payload, and decrypting would help with attribution. This show did a great job. I put it up there with shows like The Wire for this level of effort on detail and realism.

My head canon is that when Mastermind Elliot gave back control to the real Elliot I'd like to think he came here to live in peace

I knew right away that the actor playing Phillip Price, Michael Cristofer, is a primarily theatre guy. He has such magnetism and his mannerisms are just so on point, he kinda reminds me of some teachers I've had in a good way

Interesting Fun Fact: One of the Women in the movie is Noomi Rapache who played Lisbeth Salander in original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo which ironically Mr. Robot is strongly inspired by.
