A word of caution for viewers- i have seen too many cases of burglary or home invasions that start off with a woman coming to your door and asking for help or directions or something, but she is never alone. If you open the door to engage with her, it gives the OKAY for the men behind her hidden and out of sight to overtake the door and force themselves inside. If in your gut you feel that something is wrong or isn't right, you are usually right. There is no harm in being overly cautious when strangers do not give a sh!t about you- and that's the truth. Protect yourselves and families at all cost. I support you.

It just isn’t a crime that gets the cops blood pumping so they don’t try as hard but I’m sure they put the guys face out there to local precincts and alerts fellow precincts what’s going on. And gotten itemized list of what was stolen from the homeowner and send them out to pawn shops and enter them in the pawn shop database in case they don’t sell the crap locally. Then I would go around the neighborhood to people with security cameras or ring footage that may help pinpoint what car these people are driving. If that’s all been done then really all that is left to do is focus on other cases until you get a hit on the guy’s face or one of the pieces from the woman’s house.

That's how my aunt prevented a robbery of the bank she works at
A dude in a motorcycle pulled up and wouldn't remove his helmet. Since it was late, he had to ring the bell and have someone from inside the bank unlock the door, remotely, to allow him inside.
There was a worker at the counter and he was going to press the unlock button mindlessly. My aunt stopped him and asked the man outside to remove the helmet. He didn't, so she didn't allow him access. The dude tried to break the windows, failed (that glass is not your average window shop stuff), and left empty handed.
He proceded to robb another bank at gun point, two streets over, because no one noticed that he wouldn't take the helmet off until he was at the counter. They caught him because he parked his motorcycle in view of one of the security cameras, and they got a license plate off the images.

I did door to door sales just before the pandemic first started. Before the lockdown, I actually had several people do exactly that. Obviously I had no problem with pulling my mask down though and I also wasn't selling candy.

Pro tip: You can't simply have security cameras on your property. You absolutely must have signs pointing out these cameras. Put the signs directly under the cameras. You don't want to capture crime. You want to deter crime. Make it obvious to would-be thieves that their risk increases by attempting to cause trouble at your home. They'll be much more likely to move past your home and on to a home where their risk is less. If you don't have a lot of money, put up a dummy camera. You can get one for about $10. Put a $5 sign next to it. Or simply put up a $5 sign if you are broke. Make signs yourself for free. You must make criminals believe your house is too risky for them. The goal isn't to capture a crime on camera. The goal is to prevent the crime from happening in the first place. Think like a criminal.

We should never closely interact with a stranger who is trying to enter our houses. I remember being 16 or something and, as I was arriving my building, I noticed that some creepy man was walking towards me. Unfortunately I noticed it kinda late, so it wouldn't be possible for me to just try to get away from him (it was a super narrow street and no one was around), so I chose to run to the building door as fast as I could with my keys placed between my fingers. I remember entering the building super fast and when I closed the door the man was so insanely close to me that I swear to God that I don't know how he didn't enter. Then he started with a super strange talk that he was a repairman and needed to collect some stuff inside the building. I immediately said that I couldn't let him in since I didn't know anything about this, but he kept insisting and started to ask me if I was alone at home or if my mom was there with me too. I froze when I heard that.... I started to walk towards my apt door but kept looking at him because I was insanely freaked out. Later I confirmed that, as I knew, no repairman was expected nor was needed in the building. Not to mention that police force arrested a man a few months later that was r*ping women in their houses around the neighborhood and this gives me chills because the man looked so much like the one who stalked me that day.... it was horrible.
