Question! When you first add everything to the pot before it gets hot, would you add the food coloring and flavors then, like at the same time you add the water, sugar, and light Karo?

You can add in the beginning if you like but only if you’re using liquid coloring or liquid flavoring. Never add them while the candy started to get hot, it will seize it up. You can use gel food coloring and oil flavoring when the mixture is heating like in the video.

@@floflow09 okay so the oil flavoring and the gel food coloring can be added when I’m mixing up everything before it gets to 300 degrees? 🙂 thank you so much for replying!

what brand of flavoring can anyone recommend?

All flavors is fine. I use Lorann brand. If you use regular liquid flavoring, then make sure to add at the beginning before boiling the mixture.

My grapes come out whatever color but still kind of translucent, even with the white coloring. What could I be doing wrong?

The only thing that I can think of is probably not enough whitener or not enough color maybe. What color were you trying to achieve?

@@floflow09 thank you! And the color you did in the video is what I attempted today, but it’s been any color I use

Im so mad my mixture was STICKY AND TACKY!! I did the 2C Sugar, 1/2 C Water, 1/2 C Corn Syrup and followed all the steps the grapes was cute but why so tacky i wanted to try them plain jane with my color. So disappointed. Im going to try this 2, 1/2, 1/4 method please Lord let it work 🙏🏾

Oh no. I’m sorry to hear that. I noticed that if you don’t let it get to 300 degrees then it’ll be tacky and sticky like that. Sometimes the candy thermometer may stop working properly so I would suggest to buy a new one and try again. They’re inexpensive. I hope that helps.
