People down South think playing for Rangers and Celtic is easy, just 4 Old-Firm games a season and thats it...
The only way I could describe it for them would be this... Imagine an EPL team playing an FA Cup game vrs a Championship team away from home on a tight terrible park every away game, sure you will win most but even a draw is a disaster and a loss would mean half the country (and media) calling for the Managers head.
How are they playing on "a small terrible park" away from home every time? How are Easter Road, Tynecastle and Pittodrie terrible stadiums?
How is it then that Celtic have beaten rangers twice this season but are 2nd ?
@@jrhartley5 pittodrie the best stadium in Scotland what u talking about

I’m 43 and lived right in the souness era! Mo was a fantastic goalscorer for Glasgow Rangers! What a player! Like GS said that front 3 was amazing to watch!
Johnstone was always favoured ahead of McCoist.
@@vincentmcnabb939 I prefer McCoist.
Always thought the Hateley and Johnston partnership was dynamite in that period.
@colinjessimer1150 no doubt, I just prefer Coisty. I liked jukebox as well. Hateley was some player. I feel the same way about Mo as I do about Kenny Miller.
@@rangersnut sounds like you have a problem
Rangers always do well in Europe which says a lot for them.
Well, nobody can take that Cup Winners Cup away from them.
Aye, done well last time they were in the champions league!!
They do well in the Europa league.
"Europe" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that statement 🤣🤣
@@JB-qr2jqso did the nappy nippers ya bunnet! There wouldn't be an automatic champions league place without rangers and scotland
When people through the years such as Gascoigne, Kanchelskis, Laudrup, the de Boer brothers, Gattuso, Tore André Flo, GVB, etc, say that they didn't *ever* experience pressure at Barcelona, AC Milan, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Ajax and so on in the same way that they did at Rangers, you surely can't presume that they're all lying 😂

@@1888Christopher Most people take an extremely obtuse view of Scottish football because most weeks we're playing against teams such as St. Mirren, Motherwell and Kilmarnock, that the pressure or expectation can't be very high ⚽
Little do they know! 🏴
@@Brown87 Just a typical case of looking at the league not the team as I call it, stupid when you think about it I wouldn’t have much fear of playing any non top league teams in europe BUT teams like shakhtar, bodo/glimt, zagreb etc. all good teams who cant play some good stuff despite the league not being full of big clubs.
As for what Graeme said, Strachan said something similar years ago that mangers don’t come to manage celtic or rangers for one reason, they’re scared shitless they know deep down its like no other job in europe. They know you’re either hero or villain.
@@1888Christopher The same goes in reverse; many English teams are considered much better than they are, purely because they play in England ⚽
Thinking that teams like Crystal Palace or Nottingham Forest could win the Europa League (or at least have a good chance at it) if they played in the tournament 🤭
Arsenal, Chelsea, United, etc, have played in the competition multiple times and failed to win it, so why would Palace or Forest? 🙈
The interesting aspect of Rangers signing mojo was that it suddenly took away the big stick that Celtic fans and the journalists used to beat Rangers with. It took Celtic years to recover from that, and it also proved as groundless the suggestion that Rangers would lose support if they signed a Catholic.
As an older Englishman and a Villa fan, I would pay large money to attend an old firm game, i think it would be ELECTRIC...
Will only be cup games now or a good old fan on fan sing along. Timmy in the Shame Game at the tattie dome done that.

You can buy them on reseller websites. 800 quid amd up tho
Not sure I would; a lot of the electricity you mention has very little to do with football which is what GS has just told you.
Not the same anymore with no away fans anymore. I was at hampden 2 season ago when rangers put Celtic out the Scottish cup semi final and it was rocking mind u cause it’s 50/50 split. That’s your best bet. The league games need the away fans back for that back and forth

Souness has always had balls of steel, but signing MoJo from underneath Celtic's nose was next level. He thrusted Rangers forward in spite of a ton of backlash, and yeah, he was a tyro of a manager at the time who made some unfortunate, hasty decisions with top players like Roberts and Butcher: but ask any Rangers supporter if they have any better ideas about where the club could have gone at that time? You'll get tumbleweed.

Rangers, for 5 out of the last 6 seasons, are the only team who perform well in Europe and are actually capable of competing at that level 💯
Dortmund, Leipzig, Benfica, Porto, Feyenoord, PSV, Villareal, Betis, Lyon, Nice and a hoard of others would all attest to that 💙
Scotland needs playoffs system like in Belgium!
I was fortunate to bump into Greame Souness, coming off a plane from Dublin to Portsmouth, he was nursing a back injury from training, I couldn't not let the opportunity go to just say hello, just shake the man's hand and thank him for what he did for Rangers, ie breaking a stupid outdated signing policy.
One of the best midfield trio ive had the luxury to watch supporting Rangers. Souness, Durrant and Derek Ferguson. It was like the father with his 2 son's beside him. Great footballing trio in 86-87 season.

Happy Easter Graeme Souness, Scottish Legend! :o)
Sorry Graham but it was a different world when u managed Rangers. You had some of the best English players up at Rangers. I understand there’s pressure at Rangers & Celtic but not like it was when u were the boss at Rangers. Sorry Alan the top managers would not go to Scotland 🏴. Because unfortunately it’s not a powerhouse league. If the SPL had more money 💰 it would change the landscape for them for the better.
English managers come up and struggle just like English players come and struggle so what's the reason for that if the league is that poor?
Man fi Edinburgh like he said and went through the clubs all hardcore lol beast of a man....flag middle pitch.....mojo signed....mans man when he had his tache lol
In late 80s mid 90s the photos and articles in newspapers and on Radio, TVs of Lady Diana dominated but in Scotland Celtic and Rangers exceeded that which proves what Sounds says
I don't think people down south realise that Celtic and Rangers are clubs not just with entrenched and heavy history, but are supported by huge global fan bases, fan bases that would rival Man United and Liverpool. Every game is make or break for these two clubs. Everything is under a magnifying glass in the media, every press conference is the equivalent of a champions league night for these two clubs.
They’re not anywhere near Man U and Liverpool lol
@gmack. yeah u said the fanbases would rival Man U and Liverpools, but it’s not even close.
@@labos7250 agreed. Liverpool and Man U fan bases wouldn't get close to the OF.
Celtic and Rangers fans are delusional. Your fanbases are nowhere near the top prem teams
If Celtic & Rangers have a huge global fanbase, how come your global tv viewing figures are shite? Where are all these fans? They're not paying to watch you. You're like a kid with an imaginary friend.

can someone ask Graeme if next time rangers job comes up he would consider it rangers needs a hard but fair manager and he fits the bill perfectly ive said this to myself for a number of years i would love that true scottish grit installed in our team thanks
Managing Rangers and Celtic is just as hard as managing any of the giant clubs in the EPL but most people down south would laugh at that as per usual
That’s not true. Look at the sacking rate in the premier league now. The pressure is huge nowadays
@@labos7250 you lose 2 or 3 games as a Rangers or Celtic manager it’s chaos and you will most likely be sacked it’s 100% true hence why I said it’s just as hard at any of the EPL giant clubs as I know the room for error and consequences are the same. If anything it’s worse in Scotland as both clubs rely heavily on funding from UCL and UEL qualification and only the league winner gets UCL football. Whereas in the EPL there are a lot more European spots and is immensely funded from tv deals etc. Tune in to the old firm more and you will understand. It’s a completely different type of pressure as Souness said and absolutely zero hiding/privacy. Also what makes the old firm rivalry so intense
@@Prod1872 Gerrard got 3 years pressure free and won one trophy. The pressure in the premier league is far greater than managing rangers or Celtic
@@labos7250 Gerrard was a project appointment hence why he was given years to bring success. He came into an absolute mess and it was not going to be an overnight fix. In the EPL you can lose multiple games throughout the season as a manager as long as you’re in the top 6 so you have that safety net of euro spots. That is not the case with managing Rangers or Celtic as we don’t have that luxury. My point still stands and I know it just as hard for Glasgows two if not harder but again you and most others don’t tune in enough so you will be in denial..
That's just bullshit

Clement is like the new Walter Smith
Rangers now is not a challenge, back in 1986 when Souness was in charge they had money and due to English clubs being banned from Europe, was able to sign Steven and Stevens from Everton, Terry Butcher from Ipswich Town, Ray Wilkins, Mark Walters etc and win a few League Championships. The Old Firm have dominated the League titles since Aberdeen 39 years ago come May.
He was smart. He built a great spine in the team of 86-87. Woods, Butcher, himself and McCoist. Throw in the experience of Cooper, Munro and Jimmy Nic then addrd the gifted kids in Durrant, Ferguson and Fleck. Great team, that's why the club won its first title in 9 years and a double in his debut season. Always wondered how all would have panned out had he not left for Liverpool.
@@colinjessimer1150 As a Aberdeen fan, l hated it personally. Rangers were too dominant after even well into 90s, so technically, he built a powerful side from scratch but with money too.
It’s difficult for a foreign manager to arrive at Ibrox and then slowly realise how the fans and culture are. You have to hope for a significant and enduring language barrier. Then when the penny drops and they realise it’s like ‘eh. Sorry. Must go… over there. This has been a mistake and I apologise to my family’.

It was Rangers that started the city centre parties with the 55th title. Celtic followed lol
Ha ha your kidding aren't you...
Rangers didn't play most of those seasons though. They had a straight run. When Rangers got back up, they had to rebuild. So all those league wins are nothing to boast about when half of them were fighting off Aberdeen.
@@rossmcgowan123 you conveniently left out the important bit - after Sevco got back to the Scottish Premiership, they got front row seats to watch Celtic lift one, two, three, four trebles in a row - a QUADRUPLE TREBLE, something that's never been done - something they didn't get near while Sevco were in the lower leagues.
