I remember back in primary school me and my friend would argue at lunchtime as we both enjoyed the tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches but they'd have almost run out by the time we finally got too pick our food and I remember being in front of my friend and there was 1 last tuna and sweetcorn sandwich left and he was like 'please let me have the tuna and sweetcorn sandwich, I'm allergic too it' and I told him he shouldn't have it if his allergic and took it hahaha haha.

The bread is great yes but it needs a tomato or lettuce or something. And some sauce, like a black pepper mayo or something just to enhance it a bit.

Snack : Wispa Gold / Skips Grab Bag / Kit Kat Duo bar / Hot sausage roll (Edit : SQUARES GOATED)
Drink : Orange Lucozade Sport
When it comes to meal deals I’m a wrap guy. My go to has to always be a Southern Fried Chicken wrap. My drink 90% of the time is just a Orange Lucozade Sport, however if I’m feeling a bit down and they’ve got it I’ll go with a costa coffee from the machine. (Normally like £3 just for the coffee so great value for money when a meal deal is £3.50)
My snacks are all over the place, it just depends, sometimes a sausage roll (or sausage roll from hot counter if they have it), sometimes just a regular salt and vinegar crisps, skips bag grab etc, or maybe a chocolate like a Kit Kat chunky or wispa gold.
Edit : Just remembered, I used to get stuff from the hot food counter on break at sainsburys. That shit is actually the best for a meal deal, you can get like Chicken burgers, pasty’s etc as mains, bakery stuff, sausage rolls, chicken wings as sides. And it’s all counted in the £3.50. Just gotta double check what is and isn’t included

@@ieatrocks8422 Everyone’s got there own tastes, I’m a big prawn cocktail guy. Whilst the most popular flavour in UK, cheese and onion, is by far the worst for me. To be fair I most commonly trend towards just regular old salt and vinegar because you can’t do wrong

I’ve noticed quite a few Sainsbury’s have also got the hot Costa machines included in meal deals, but tbf I’d probably opt for one of the cold Starbucks ones

I think peoples own Wetherspoons meal choices drastically differ based on how many pints in they are.

My personal favourite is Hoisin Duck wrap, salt and vinegar walkers or Mccoys, then chocolate milkshake or blue machine naked smoothie/innocent red smoothie
George. the Australian one had a packet of FROZEN Dino nuggets in it. I would argue they are a meal but they literally need to be cooked. Also steggles is one of the biggest chicken brands here, not short for a dinosaur.
Just out of curiosity do you guys have a classic meal deal in the British sense over there? Like sandwich snack drink? Because the frozen dino nuggies more resemble what some supermarkets here do with frozen meal deals, where you’ll get like an offer on like a frozen pizza, garlic bread, chicken nuggets, chips, ice cream for example, at a cheaper price
@@tonaerio I can't really think of any meal deals here at supermarkets. BUT convience stores and gas stations do meal deals similar to British meal deals. I.e. a meat pie, crisps or a chocolate and drink.

As a American I’m surprised we don’t have meal deals around as much as the uk
I’ve really only visited the coasts (like New York, San Fran, LA etc) but I found even though you guys don’t have mainstream meal deals in the British sense, your supermarkets tended to have a good variety of fresh sandwiches, wraps, salads etc, they were a bit steep in price though.
I think where you excel is you’re delis, they’re not really a thing I don’t think over here. Closest we get is like a subway. But if a proper good deli sandwich was available I’d pick it over a meal deal anyday

I havent seen it in a tesco near me in ages but i love the Honey and Mustard chicken pasta. I find most things there pretty bland or clashing but that pasta was the best one, followed by the southern chicken pasta . Crush up some steak mccoys over the top and you will never get anything different

Tim Hortons, McDonalds etc literally do meal deals. I think it’s £4.90 or something in Tim Hortons but you get a burger or wrap, drink and chips. It’s hot food but it’s literally the textbook definition of a meal deal. Don’t @ me.

I think my country (Australia) must have a different definition of a "meal deal" than the UK. I don't think anyone here would call a random selection of snacks a meal deal unless it was specifically being sold in a bundle together, which none of these appear to be. Meanwhile, the McDonald's one would 100% be considered a meal deal because "cheeseburger meal" is literally what it's called when you order one (plus it's a deal on buying each part separately, obviously). In fact, if you started talking about "meal deals" most people would immediately think of fast food. McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Jacks (Burger King); because that's how they're always advertising themselves. Get the latest Twister combo meal deal. Get a Whopper meal deal for only $5. etc.
So in the UK, does a meal deal just refer to a sandwich, pack of chips and a drink you like for lunch, or is there some sort of chain food joint where you can select any three items and get it in a deal? And what do you call it when you go to McDonalds or any other fast food place? Do you have to ask for each item separately rather than just saying something like "I'll take a Bic Mac meal" and knowing it'll come with chips and a drink at a deal price?
Yes, that’s the whole ass point. You’re literally describing a meal deal. The “sandwich, pack of crisps and drink” are together £3.90 in Tesco (as he literally showed in the video) because that’s the price of a meal deal, it’s a snack like crisps along with a drink and a main item like a wrap or sandwich and when the meal deal sticker is shown beside that item in store it means it’s part of the meal deal bundle. Although I agree that for fast food chains like Tim Hortons or McDonalds when they advertise their version of meal deals they are classified as such. The only reason I can think of as to why he got mad when someone showed a cheeseburger was because he wasn’t including fast food meal deals for some reason and only stores like Asda and Tesco as they are cold foods.
