    The Salamanders, Ultramarines and Space Wolves would like to have a word. The Salamanders are expected to retain family ties and be pillars of their community when not on deployment. The Ultramarines become Politicians in their hometowns/homeworlds essentially when not deployed. The Space Wolves remember enough to know who they wanted to Bone.

    Please do not ignore, that the term "Infantry" comes from the word "infant" and was in Europe of early modern history those regiments where poor and desperate families gave their children when they were not able to feet them or searched for compensation in case of the kid being killed in combat! So child-soldiers are a phenomenon that was common around the globe!

    I'd imagine even the kids taken from warrior societies have had it pretty rough too. Look at Klingon kids, who though they live in a technologically and philosophically sophisticated society, are still put through the wringer to mold them into warriors. Same with training children of medieval knights, a full belly means you have the means to train that much harder.

    • @JDWonders
      @JDWonders Před 6 lety +28

      I believe that the reason why Space Marines don't recruit from Imperial Guard planets is because if they did, then those planets wouldn't provide a tithe anymore. For example: If Space Marines started recruiting Catachans, then Catachan would no longer be raising regiments.

Compassion and knowing right from wrong aren't things most children understand and add bad circumstances on it and you have monsters. There's a reason children soldiers are so effective. I forgot who said it but there was a quote akin to "the only problem with children soldiers is their size"

  • @Kingneo0053
    @Kingneo0053 Před 6 lety +27

    I'm questioning whether or not Space Marines are actually needed.
    The Imperial Guard have proven themselves capable of holding their own against the greatest threats the galaxy has to offer (cadia). You don't need gene seeds to use power armor, bolter weapons, plasma weapons, etc. (sisters of battle). Nor do you need gene seeds to accumulate centuries worth of combat experience (life extension drugs used by the nobility).
    Why not give experienced Guard better weapons and armor (like the sisters) and life extension for effective officers/troops (like the nobility)?
    Unlike Space Marines, or Sisters, these Guardsmen/Guardswomen would be under the direct authority of the Lords of Terra (no going against their orders).
    They have children, spouses, etc. that would keep them attached/loyal to the Imperium (if they went rogue who would protect those people, keep them fed, provide them with medicine, etc.?).
    They can be mixed to prevent tribal loyalties from overriding empire loyalties (ultramarines consider ultramar their home. if it came down to a choice between protecting ultramar and another part of the imperium there is a chance they choose ultramar. however if only a portion of ultramarines came from ultramar that chance is far less likely.)
    They can be recruited from their best and brightest (issue mandatory military service for everyone in the Imperium. have them go through military training. this can be done at an early age. those showing a high ability to control themselves, coordinate/lead their squad, think under pressure, and come up with brilliant plans in bad situations are kept as recruits for these special squads and/or given officers status. the rest are kept as grunts or relived from duty. this also has the added ability of minimizing losses.)
    They have less prone to violent outbursts which can lead to poor decision making (angry people do not make good decisions)

    • @Lightscribe225
      @Lightscribe225 Před 6 lety +17

      Because Guardsmen tend to win by throwing wave after wave of men at the enemy until the guns are clogged with the bodies of dead guardsmen.
      Lords of Terra have been proven to be utterly incompetent in the past(War of the Beast) and giving them direct control is an easy way to see the Imperium plummet as the lords command armies to fight for their personal gain.
      Guardsmen already have kids, they're called Whiteshields.
      Imperium already has mandatory service, that's that the tithe is.
      They are far more prone to a serious case of stupid, which only gets worse the more promotions they get.

      Nope, sure you have a ton of guardsmen but when they come against orks and the like it is out number and outkill guards men 1 to 100 sure a guardsmen hold the line but only for so long, the better weaponry can only be operated by beings of stronger threshold, well guards man could be upgraded with battle much suits and such, then you have the immaterial world that infects men to turn them into cultists and demons

      Kingneo Yea, no. Space Marines are also much more resistant to Chaos corruption, 100x times more loyal, smarter, stronger. Most of Space Marine weapons cannot be fired by normal humans because recoil would break bones, etc. In a world where creatures bigger than apartment blocks roam around wanting to kill you, you need genetically modified super soldiers. Also Imperial Guard has many times lost worlds or barely kept them until Space Marines were brought in to take control.

      Sisters of Battle are even less likely to turn to Chaos than Space Marines and they are regular people.
      The loyalty of a Space Marine is due to their recruitment and training at an early age. That can be replicated. Matter of fact we can use the fact that they have family that Chaos/Xenos want to destroy as an additional reason for them to fight/not rebel (unlike Space Marines).
      Sisters of Battle use Bolters and Power Armor. Not the same strength than what Space Marines are using, but far better than what the Guard are using now. That will drastically improve performance.
      Apartment sized creatures are dealt with through Air Support and Titans. The weapons equipped on Imperial Ships and Titans are more than enough to deal with that.

    Well. Good video. Bad points.
    When you started talking about recruitement.... well.
    NOPE
    Not at all. You are speaking as if all chapters were similar. First, that's false
    Second, lot of chapters have a home world that is not a feral world.
    Third, the kids are not choose for being psychotic killers . They are chosen for their strength, abilities, potential.
    For exemple, In the astral knights, you were chosen because of your nobility
    In the black Templars, for you FUCKING ZEAL, in the spaces Wolves, for your bravery, in the ultramarines, you can simply volunteer and you can be recruited if you manage to pass on the test.
    And by the way. The aspirant can be taken until the age of 30.

      Dude, are you high??? Neophytes can be taken up until the age of early puberty, there's extensive mention of this in the Canonical literature, so where the fuck did you get 30 from? The whole point is young boys go through a natural growing spurt that makes for an even larger individual then what girls go through... So... They have a narrow window of opportunity to time their implantation process, ie, they Need to keep up with the boy's natural growth, it's meant to be one of the reasons only boys can survive the implantation process, I think, ie, it's so traumatic to the body that this small window of opportunity during the cusp of puberty is the only chance they get...
      Read the original Ragnar Blackmane novels and The Emperor's gifts for specific examples or any of the wiki pages for 40k.

      And to One Mind Syndicate, I'm sorry, did you get some kinda certificate in being some kind of a lore master nerd lord or something, cos you're doing a shithouse job...
      Whether it be the annoying, monotonous voice, the regular mispronunciation of words or the downright abominably ignorant misuse of some (deerrrp 'psychotic' isn't the adjective for a fucking psychopath, psychosis is a disconnection from reality, whereas psychopathy refers to the condition of being a psychopath).
      On this note, imbecile, you've literally shat all over the well established fiction that depicts the Astartes, and by the way, even though we don't know how exactly that word is pronounced, Hmmm... Basically, I'm just gonna put it out there that the way you say most things is probably a good indicator on how not to say something... Fuck me sideways.. Anyway... Have you actually read ANY of the God damned library of novels in order to misinterpret them so idiotically?.. Is where that accusation as going..
      Seriously, your blinkered and childish interpretation miss soooo much of the incredibly rich story that you're implying you're well verses in, that I'm actually offended to the point of kicking up the necessary fuss of getting your entire shitty channel shut down for being full of shit and ruining entirely the fiction that so many people love.
      Look, it's great you love 40k, but maybe until they find a cure for not being a one of the less intelligent people on the autism spectrum and/or for having the world's most annoying voice right up there with 'Chills', keep that shit to yourself and thank the sweet Lord you don't actually work in radio or haven't thought to embarrass yourself on one of those shitty music idol shows.

  • @saphirone8030
    @saphirone8030 Před 6 lety +8

    I personally think primaris are NOT replacement, of their more seasoned, hardened, experienced brothers. They are a step further. Most people tend to forget that but normal space marines, despite their age CAN become Primaris, you can convert a normal Space Marine into a Primaris.
    Furthermore, the process to create a Primaris cost even more than creating a normal Astartes, and losing a Primaris is an even worse loss than a normal space marine. In that regard, I think that the process of becoming a Primaris will become for many chapters a way to strenghten their veterans.
    Instead of risking to waste a recruit with an even more hazardous process that is the Primaris changement, the transformation into a Primaris will be gifted to veterans, sometimes maybe as a sign of entering the chapter's first company. That way, the primaris that result from that is not only a stronger, faster, and tougher space marine. Compared to the first Primaris, it would create a hardened, battle forged Primaris that has already fought everything the galaxy has thrown at him. And now, the galaxy will have to try even harder if they ever want to even hope to destroy that new Space Marine.

    I mean yeah it's not perfect though I think you focused a bit too much on the civilian life, which sucks just about every where in 40k. A more direct issue with Space Marines is the fact they will only know war. They don't get a vacation, they don't seem to allow to have many hobbies. Just shipped from one war zone to he next as Elite troops. Often not even seeing the end of a conflict, leaving before the job is done. Which lets many worlds fall back to Orcs, Chaos etc because the space marines left the rest to the Guard.
    But the way I look at it, if your going to be a slave of the Emperor, you might as well get all the best toys.

    QUESTION : Hi and thanks for answering my question. This time nothing connected to 40k. Whats was the most complicated or contrived dish You've ever made?
    Mine was a pork-ribs pizza. Where first of all You needed to make a dough (that will grow for about 12hours), then prepare homely ribs,
    after they've done "peel" them (or strip them of that delicous meat), make the pizza souce [best check the Binging with Babish chanell on YT],
    assamble the base - rolled up dough, pizza souce, ribs -> off to 220C preheated oven for a few minutes, after it add rucola and cheese (lots of it), again off to oven for a few minutes.
    And then nomingtons... have a nice one, don't worry Your hard labor will be rewarded greatly ;)

    Astartes don't recruit for lack of conscience(psychopathy), they recruit for ability to endure hardship. This is why they tend to recruit from death-worlds, feral-worlds and similar places where life is extremely difficult and those capable of surviving or thriving there even at a young age would make excellent Marine material. Indeed, most non-Chaotic Space Marines DO have a sort of twisted, warped conscience as evidenced by their ability to feel things like grief or anger at the loss of friends, their ability to self-sacrifice for either a perceived greater good or simply the lives of others and the like.
    Also considering Primaris Marines canon......no. Neck yourself.

The only ones who would remember such are the Primarchs, a handful of dreadnoughts (in what is left of their minds), and some of the oldest surviving members of the Traitor Legions, whom may have only lived a few short decades or centuries in the Warp as the millennia passed in the materium, or have achieved immortality by ascending to daemonhood. To even suggest that the Emperor is any less than divine or that to worship Him is in any way wrong is heresy and grounds for immediate death.
