Battery Powered Subwoofer Solution-Pairing Bose S1Pro with JBL Partybox 110 All Battery Powered PA

  • Keep your eyes open for a future video doing the same pairing with the JBL Partybox 110 but instead of the Bose S1Pro I will use the more powerful Mackie Thump Go or I might go all JBL with the JBL Compact.
    If you want a "REAL" lightweight subwoofer, it is very easy to run a Bose Sub1, RCF 702 or EV EXL12-sp with a 11 pound External Battery Pack. I will link past videos if interested.
    At this time the only factory battery supplied subwoofers are: Yorkville EXM Mobile Sub $790 www.fullcompass.com/prod/6036...
    Or Diamond Box Sub8.2 $1,000 40lbs! diamondboxx.com/collections/b...

    JBL recently added a three band EQ through a firmware update. It makes a great difference! Amazed this speaker is still $400 after all other speakers have jumped in price.

    Hi Bill. Thank you very much for this video! I have the Bose S1 Pro and was considering selling it for a replacement speaker with more bass. Once I saw this video, I picked up the Partybox 310, and I’ve been in love with the combo ever since. The only difference is I have the S1 Pro on the floor angled up and the 310 on a stand to reduce the bass. I’ll likely get a stand for the S1 Pro also, but I would like to have them one on top of the other.

    I had the same idea but I purchased the JBL Partybox 310 to add some lower end to my S1 Pro for battery operated sound reinforcement. I just ordered a Harbinger Subwoofer on sale at Guitar Center for $100 off. Obviously it is not going to work without AC power unless I utilize one of these solutions you outlined in one of your other videos. So I am looking into inverters and such just to run the sub.

    FYI : PB110 gets louder if plugged into AC. Also, since port is on the back, you can boost the bass by putting it up against a wall.

    Viewer comment: In response to some folks posting that the Bose S1 Pro wasn't loud enough, especially in the vocals department. Since loud and soft are relative terms I decided to measure actual decibel levels. The app I used is called Decibel X. It's a must app for all musicians. In this video, my vocal (Shure SM 58) volume is set at 3/4 with 1/4 reverb, which I changed to 1/2 after viewing this video and my instrument volume is at 1/2. What I discovered was this battery operated, 15 lb. speaker is not as loud as my my 39 lb. JBL EON615 which puts out 127 db max. SPL or my 41 lb. JBL EON One line array which puts out 118 db max. SPL. NO, this unit puts out only 103 db peak (did I mention it only weighs 15 lbs.) What does it all mean you ask? SPL stands for Sound Pressure Level and it's the primary objective unit of measure for output (NOT Watts). Continued exposure to SPL above 90 dB can cause permanent hearing damage. Remember that dB levels drop the further away from the source... the goal is to have a level of 85 dB max where the listener is, thus the reason these units have a rating of over that, which gives you some head room. I also discovered that this unit is ideal for small rooms with 40-50 people or busking. It's size and weight make this unit very, very convenient especially for solo or duo musicians/singers.

    Great video Bill ! I need a little help. I have a pair of S1 Pros, i bluetooth stereo and use one microphone input. I really would like a small sub to fill out the lower end. I need to remain completely off-grid. How could i wire a Yorkville Mobile sub to this paired stereo system? Could i split the 1/4 TRS from output Pro (main) into both the second Pro and a sub? I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks Rick

      @WWeiss-nv5vz  Před 2 lety

      Glad you liked the video. I just line out to the sub from one of the S1Pros. 2nd speaker is wireless using the Connect App.
      Curious, have you heard the Yorkville Sub? At that price it seems running a better sub on an external power source would perform better. Check out the Fishman sub, only $400. 300 watts vs 100 watts of Yorkville, same 30lbs weight. Runs easily off a $180 power supply. czcams.com/video/2S29zvSfNY4/video.html

    @charlieflores8612 Před rokem +2

    Great option!! do you think this pairing (S1-Partybox) may sound almost like 01 Bose L1 Pro8, or L1 is a lot better sound and louder?? I have a Partybox 200 and trying to decide if just buying a S1 Pro to use them together (as your video) or sell the Partybox to buy instead an L1 Pro8.

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz  Před rokem +1

      You are talking about a totally different league/application. This pairing is only good up to the S1Pro max volume which is 100dB. Pro8 max volume is 118dB. Anything over 10dB difference is twice the volume. Pro8 will also throw much further and has the L1 series 180 degree room filling dispersion. This leads to much less stage volume. With the Pro8 you don't need a speaker stand and the App is also useful. The 8 drivers should also sound cleaner, but not sure never A/B ed them. If you can afford the extra $$$ run don't walk and get the Pro8!

      @@WWeiss-nv5vz Thanks bro... since I found a special price I bought a S1Pro yesterday and today I paired it with Partybox 200 as you showed in your video and sound is amazing getting afford lows and mids from S1Pro and bass from Partybox, I think it is enough for me considering a party in a small ambient with 30 people. My only concern is that I get a little interference when I connect my electric guitar to S1Pro

      @WWeiss-nv5vz  Před rokem

      @@charlieflores8612 Glad to hear it worked out. Anytime you add a second speaker of decent quality, it adds that room filling illusion of stereo. The fact that the JBL adds low bass is a bonus.

    This is what I’ve been looking for. I currently have the JBL PB 110 and paired with Edifier t5 subwoofer. The problem is, JBL pb 110 lacks clarity in terms of the mids and highs especially when watching movies and doing karaoke. I was planning to add the Bose s1 pro to my set up. Glad i found this video.
