I've owned my Glowforge for over 3 years, my Nova 24 for just over a year, and my Thunder Bolt for a couple months. My impressions of this machine so far are awesome. It is fast, provides great detail, and works really well for what I like to do - smaller acrylic detailed projects.

You’re right. That second pass really cleaned it up! Great job as always, Katie!
Thank you! I was so impressed with that detail - kind of obsessed now
Love it, definitely gonna give the second pass a try. Awesome work!!!
Thanks!
Excellent video. I haven't thought about making rubber stamps for quite a while. Now I will probably make one or two this week.
Thank you! I’d love to see what you do!
@@ThingsKatieMakes last Friday a customer picked up two pictures of her son and daughter-in-law (both in the US Air Force) that I engraved on slate. After a lot of tweeking and adjusting I finally got it right. It was done on my Cloudray 50 watt fiber laser. I do this mostly as a hobby as I am retired. I would love to show you pictures but I don't know how to send them to you without compromising both our privacy.
I’m definitely interested in a laser class!! I have only cut a key chain in thunder since February!! I’m a bit intimidated and just stick to watching u tube videos! Love the stamps as well!! 👍great job!
Awesome! Stay tuned for details soon
Nice information
Thanks!
I would be interested in a well organized learning path (class) in lasers and LightBurn. Unfortunately, I don't have the Thunder Laser so if you could make it generic for all lasers.
Thanks Jesse! Plan is as generic as it can be for Lightburn and Ruida controllers!
Hello! I enjoyed watching your video. Can this be done on brass metal stamps as well?
The engraving portion? If so, not with a CO2 laser - it can’t engrave metal
Howdy Katie! Are you familiar with the IKIER K1 PRO ULTRA? Just wondering if it's the same set up for lightburn program.
Hey there! I'm not familiar with it - but it looks like a diode laser? If so, there will be some differences - but I'm not entirely sure what they are
Where did you get the Hearth and Home font duo from? Thanks!

Katie- Great video tutorial. You mention a video showing you going through the steps to mount using foam and other things, but you forgot to actually add the link to that video. Can you please provide the video link in which you go through the steps you've taken to mount the stamp to a wood block using foam? Thanks,
Thanks for the heads up! czcams.com/video/gZziVfgiXwE/video.htmlsi=ubSikcNOsngmORtU - I'll add to the description as well
Where do you get the stamp material? I did not see it below. Thanks

What is the power rating of your laser because that will affect how I adjust my settings
60 watt CO2
which version of lightburn do you have? what would I buy for home?
Hi! I have the one for gantry lasers (not galvo) so will depend on your laser type
Hi, I am following the steps you show. When I try the rectangle or the offset there is no color. What do I need to do to add the color to the shapes like you?
Are you using Lightburn? The layer needs to be a fill…
In lightburn, go to the top where it says window, and under view style. Click the filled/smooth.
I was hoping for a tutorial on how to make a font stamp with ramps to strengthen the image and guarantee a beautifully stamped image. As a long time avid stamper I'd be very disappointed getting this kind of Stamp from a seller.
Thanks for the feedback. We always have new things to learn to improve our craft.
You should cut another set on the thunder, but increase your line interval and then turn on the ramp length. I run 200 speed, 34 power, .030 line interval, and a ramp length of .0295 on the outer edge. The ramp length increases the rigidity of the thin areas on the stamp, which your design will benefit from.
I am on a 51/130 btw.
Interesting! I’ve never used ramp length - I’ll have to check it out. Really appreciate the feedback!
@@ThingsKatieMakes it makes the stamps last longer too, less delicate, just as detailed. And by dropping my speed, I only needed one pass, but with the higher LPI, it took just as long.
@@_justgrant I finally went back and did this - I still did the multiple passes and the ramp really helped the overall stamp. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you
i tried to laser a stamp in my OMTech 55watt ONCE!!
It made a mess EVERYWHERE.
1) I assume you had air assist on, how much pressure?
2) I ask #1 becuse i thought i saw flames on the Thunder lasering - is that right?
3) I used the orange rubber - stunk to high heaven. Does the gray small as bad?
4) i see the gray matter on the honeycomb - how easy to clean off?
5) Can i ask more question instead off googling for myself? No i wont ;-)
Great video - very informative & easy to follow.
I actually keep the air pretty low so it doesn't blow too much around, so just a "whisper" during engraving and on during cutting. I will get a flame now and then during cutting, but as long as I see it go out quickly, I'm ok. The gray isn't as messy and I think it doesn't smell quite as bad. I'm not too concerned about keeping my honeycomb really clean - I'm either masking things I'm putting down on it, or cleaning them up after, so I don't worry about it too much. That said, the powder mess is generally pretty easy to clean up! Thank you for the compliment and ask away!
The Thunder is out of budget right now, can you recommend similar products that are budget friendly and produces the same results for engraved stamps?
What budget are you working with?
Hmm, I can't really say, it depends. Probably less than 1k.@@ThingsKatieMakes
Would like to see some chrome etching, like for auto or motorcycle bling parts. 😊
Wrong laser type! Need a fiber or UV for that
Think you could squeeze one in front of that window. 😊
Or use some TIO2
@@CruiseMonkeyGames right? there has to be room
Hello how can I get my square to be solid so I can mount my words
I’m not sure I understand the question?
@@ThingsKatieMakes when you made your square to go over your words. It was solid when I make mine it's not solid so it doesn't work when time to make
In lightburn, you'll want to make sure the layer you're using is set to FILL - that will give you a solid shape.
So when I'm drawing the Square check it to fill and it will be sold.
Yep!@@kimberlylewis5501
