10:05 Matt gets math wrong and the editor just goes with it. Love it.
70/16 = 4.4.
@@takumi2023 which is 0.4 more logs per resident than 40/10 = 4.0.
It really calls Matt’s engineering qualifications into question.
More expensive, but is it a more efficient use of space?
@@anonymouse14 10:21 Yeah... It doesn't seem so. 😄
At the start of this season I thought you were gona fail but you all ways engineered a way out of a situation
It’s “always” buddy
But most probably he would struggle again if he doesn't build effective dams! as in the long run the drought would become an issue again!
I still dont get that district managing Problem that matt has, its so easy to manage
He definitely wouldn’t of made it if he was an architect.
@Neil The Peel in all ways hes engineered his way out
6:12 Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz is like old Polish meme from film How I Unleashed World War II
It feels like this map REALLY benefits from playing on easy rather than normal, starts to get easier too quickly maybe with those longer droughts.
Yeah, didn't he talked about it for the first few episode? The difficulty level is basically inverted
@@hafidzgi Yeah, as I recall he wasn't sure if he should start on easy or normal.
The season would 100% be over already if I played on easy, easy is hard on this map!
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming You're no architect, I believe in you!
Pro tip, Matt -- at the happiness levels you're at, a single breeding pod will maintain a population of about 12. So you can actually plan for your maximum population based on how many pods you want to keep running... usually when I start a game as the iron teeth, I only start with 1 pod until the farming/water base is established, then go to 2. :)
Also, I feel it would make sense to build housing and breeding capacity in parallel.
Then there is me with 28 pods but my population heading to 400 beavers
The reason the water wheel is not spinning is the block of dirt upstream from it. Not sure if someone has said this yet, but there you go.
He has it in its own little pocket. You would think an engineer would know that. But, as it turns out from my experience with engineers in the manufacturing industry (and watching this channel) is that they only think that they're the smartest. It usually isn't the case, however.
@@JasonGleaner as an architect I know this but I'm to smart to say it
Thank you for all your content Matt, the last few months have been so brutal, having COVID, having surgery, now my son needs surgery, your videos literally keep me sane and keep my depression at bay, so thank you so so much for always coming into your content with upbeat positivity and humor, it helps so much
Stay strong, like a truss!
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming i truss your advice, you're an engineer!
Fun fact, Two episodes earlier matt got Rid of the corner levee to have more space to plant carrots, he still hasn't used them...
That's not fun, that's embarrassing! 😂
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming give the corner space some space... dun dun
Can't get enough of the Timberborn content. Hopefully with people making maps that mix up the core gameplay like this one, you can keep it fresh and interesting and we can get all the way to the fabled _Season 69_
Putting the sad rain over some scenes actually made me think of an awesome idea for the game, in the middle of the wet season a chance for rain, which just adds the tiniest layer of water across every tile
Tip: If placing a levy on a levy, you do not need to pause all of them to halt construction of the entire stack, just the lowest one.
Additional tip: Giving the dam surrounding your main island the lowest priority (use the menu card between bulldoze and pathways to assign build priorities to multiple constructions via box-selecting) means it will get build if you don't have other constructions that need the resources and you do not need to manually pause it.
I wonder when he will rediscover that menu 🤣
There's sometimes reason to pause it anyway tho, like if you're needing planks and gears and are short on logs
@@michaelsorensen7567 for sure!
Timberborners is always a welcome sight!
I wonder how Matt would do with Subnautica?
he would build a bridge connecting two islands
He would build his base in the "strongest shape" (not a triangle)
He played it a while ago (I think around 2.Years ago).
Watch the two episodes I made on it and find out!
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming but only Below Zero original is better
The time between your last Timberborn video to this one, you conviced me to picked up the game again. Now I have put in over 60 hours into the game since. Thank you for getting me back into the game
Glad I'm not the only one that does a little dance at the start of these episodes, but with the power of engineering, you should want to bust a groove!
An extra cheer for the editor this episode😌👌. I'm loving the vibe that's getting established with the background music and poking at Matt's bunny trails. Matt's a funny guy for sure! but his editors for Timberborn bring it up another notch😍
grzegorz brzęczyszczykiewicz dziękuje że to zrobiłeś
lmao, that was perfect
Thanks for another episode! I really enjoy coming from school and watching it right away! Keep your work up, I wish you a lot of success
Timberborn should add upgraded district centers as a late game science unlock, allowing for greater distances, and maybe needing to be connected to several things to provide bonuses to the district. They should add stone too, as a mid game ressource, allowing for teeth grinding stones and being naturally present in the landscape, they could allow for diversification of buildings, and could for example make a building work when partially submerged, why not have each building being buildable in either wood, wood + metal, stone, stone + metal, and make that have an effect on the ability to build on it (how high) and some differences in design. Some ideas that just popped up in my head, love your vids
Just bought this game mainly because of this series and after playing around with it a bit I got an idea for next season: Beaverzon
One central district that doesnt produce stuff but stores and distributes it all around.
plus maybe a really fancy district shut off to the side for the CEOs and Architects so that the other Beavers can hat on them
goal being making and distributing every item in the game
Ah yes, one of the oldest polish jokes, Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz. I'm proud of you Bro.
Btw, that's beaver name was in polish, which is also native tongue of creators of Timberborn :D
Wow, it is Polish game? I didn't know!
@@a.w.4708 Well, the studio (Mechanistry) is located in Gdańsk
I think the word you mean is not tongue (język - część ciała), but language (język - jako język mówiony)
@@diaxudev1724 when you add word „native” you can use “tongue”, it’s more of an artistic version.
“native tongue

(ˈneɪtɪv tʌŋ IPA Pronunciation Guide )
NOUN
the native language of someone; the language of the country that someone is born in or native to
She spoke only her native tongue”
Collins Dictionary
So, no, I meant tongue 👅
@@KajtekBeary oh shit, I just checked it, you're right. i'm so sorry
Idea for a new Timberborn season: Use the priority system to build a self sufficient city completely AFK. Plan everything out at the beginning and let it run with no intervention. See if your city planning skills are as good as you think they are.
physically impossible with this game, there are things that are needed by a city mid/late game that can ONLY be acquired via unlocking them through science points which means you can't AFK it as you have to spend the science points you get, it's not done for you.
Let's goo, another timberborners video!!!! These are the absolute best!!
If you look at the shadows you'll notice that the sun is always behind the camera...
This has some pretty interesting implications for physics in the timberborn universe.
You ARE the sun
Perhaps it's not behind the camera - perhaps it IS the camera.
In that case the implications would be for the theology of the timberborn universe - Matt, the Sun God Engineer.
Feel bad for all the extreme close in zooms he does on the breeding pods
that Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz troll-reference was amazing 😀
I have now been ill for 3 days and I have watched all 52 of your Timberborn videos, Very entertaining. Really looking forward to new ones!
“Dun-dun, dun-dun” might be my favorite part of the entire RCE channel, so I can definitely imagine doing a little dance!!
As always mattbusing his engineering skills and beaver power to beat this insane mode . Loving these videos of the season mate . Keep them coming . One of the best og series from Matt.
Very funny, carry on doing the great work. You have really inspired me to be an engineer.
More Frequent Timberborners episodes please! Everyone who agrees please upvote so Matt sees this. These are my favorite and I wish there were more of them.
6:10 - Good to know, there are Poles on this channel.
Now, i feel less alone.
Yesssssssssss! This is what I live for 😅. It’s like therapy after a long day
6:10 Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz strikes again!
I'm so glad you've continued the Timberborners... it's my favorite thing you do. It was poly bridge... but now this is it.
Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz! I love it! (Chrząszczyrzwuszyce powiat Łękołody ;))
loving this season! if you grow birch on the parts that flood, you might be able to grow and harvest them during a drought.
also, aquatic foods do require shallow water. being able to modulate your water is necessary
Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz is a Legend man
As you were wondering about the sun in this game: have you noticed that you are the sun while you are playing? Like the shadows move when you move the camera. Think you're some kind of sun god?
I never knew I would sing "welcome back to timber-borners" without noticing it ever
rce got me infected with engineering
i agree!
Honestly, he should team up with devs to make it an official soundtrack
@@michaelsorensen7567 once they change hp to bp then maybe a chance
Hey RCE, last time i checked the mods for timerborn there was a mods that adds a visible sun.
The sun is always visible, it’s just behind the camera
@@andymitchell8644 Have you looked at the shadows in the game?
06:11 is that the fameus Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz!?
The best part of these videos is that I can just kick back with some noms and watch something I don't understand enough about to yell at the monitor over. Except you know... that massive "easter egg" hiding in the corner of his map :D
Yeah Timberborners! My favorite series. I love playing this game too.
Watched a ton of your videos while my daughter was recovering in the hospital for a month. I had already had you pop up in my suggested videos and had watched most of timberborners. But infra is where you got me. Anyway, your jokes helped me smile when it was hard to do and I wanted to say thank you.
Also, not sure if your pronunciation of Segg Gway is a joke... because I think it's pronounced Segway, like the weird scooter thing.
This has to be my favorite series on youtube
Can always count on Matt for the uploads during my gap in my engineering classes. Gotta get my dose of strong and efficient engineering.
I had a headache today and no joke, it literally went away when I saw this video. Your videos always improve my mood lol. Thanks rce for the great content!
probably placebo effected yourself "these improve my mood and it might help with my headache" Subconscious: "damn that sounds feasible, wow the pain is going away now"
@@gabrielhenson5751 ye cause these vids always put me in a good mood
I think it's fun that you do a little dance when you do your intro! Don't worry about what anybody thinks if it's making you happy
Need to use dynamite to extend the water up to the main base so your farms still have access to the water. You'll just need to build your dam on both side of the river.
Or else just a water dump in a hole in the middle of the field
You could put a dam wall around where you were thinking of building the spatterdock, kind of like the dam around the other farm areas. That way it stays wet
Love the series Matt!! Keep up the great content! And yes, beavers are amphibious but not amphibians
Todays opening definitely should get Emmy
the intro actually worked!!
Realy love all your videos but timberborn has a special place
I really didn't expect to see a Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz joke here
Yeah, from the very start I thought this map idea was novel, but immediately recognized it would rapidly get easier. 😅
It will probably have a hard middle point where you have expanded to most of the easily usable land. Also he probably could have customed the settings to stop droughts from lengthening.
@@liamnehren1054 Yeah I'm not sure how the settings work. But there's probably a hard pivot point incoming where he'll need to start trying to preserve water instead of get rid of it. Haha
@@katrinasmith219 yeah the game isn't really tuned for this kind of game play and the late game is a little underwhelming since the droughts just become a minor annoyance.
I wish I could see this more than once a week. I love for timber borners
Thank you mat, I needed this video after watching silence of the lamb. I’m glad you make these videos, I know there are people who your content helps that are going through real tough times.
Loving the series!!
Build a 3 by 3 raised square area using levees, but leave out the centre square, place a water dump that fills up that centre square, and it will keep the near by crops from drying out, the good thing about water dumps, is that they stop dumping water when the water is at the top.
Or just plow ahead to dynamite and water dump in a hole.
The dance is not sad. Enjoy the little things in life :D
I really like this series. Completely different concept of Timberborn, and seeing how he handles it. :)
6:12 power of Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz
The medical beds and teeth grindstones are actually more or less useful based on what each district prioritizes; broken teeth only happen to beavers working as lumberjacks, so lumber focused districts need more teeth grindstones, while injuries happen with more manufacturing type jobs, like the sawmill and water pump, so you'll need more medical beds for an industrial district.
For the power problem in District 9, you could try replacing that platform with a dam piece (the one on which the path to the lumberjack flag on the map edge crosses the stream). Or even better: Add in a floodgate so that you can use the water during the day and save it up during the night.
It will raise the level of the water, which might give the water wheels a chance to work better. I don't know if that makes a difference because there won't be more total water flow. It might be worth a try.
The reason you can't see the sun is because you are the sun. If you look at the shadows, they rotate with the camera.
Also the small water wheels are less efficient. Use the larger wheels in a 2 wide channel for maximum efficiency.
Thank you for doing your little dance Matt, it made my day just thinking about it, and how could you not? it's such a catchy song.
Got my velocity in 1.5x and the song from the start in that vel is amazing.
Yo Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz in the house! How matt couldn't have know him his so famous
17:45 fun fact: beaver's teeth never stop growing, so they need to grind them or they risk piercing their own skulls.
also their teeth have some iron in them (that is why they are orange), so they are quite hard.
We need more of the timberborners!!!!!
anybody elese counting down days between uploads.... I love Matt and I love this series!
Im very much impressed. I thought RCE was going to fail at this weird water world level, but he has proven the power of ENGINEERING to be more than capable to saving this beaver colony.
District 9... Fookin prawns...
Love the videos Matt :)
Is it interesting how I found matts intro tune in an old uk Tv show called “West end”?
Loving this season! If only we could have a daily/every 2 days episode... withdrawal kicks in hard by day 3 🙃
100%
I suggest breaking a bit of the mega dam to make a little inlet that flows into the farm so that it never dries out
6:11 Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz!
Was in a long meeting. Saw the notification and it made it even harder to sit through the meeting.
I don´t know why, but I really enjoy the timberborn intros. Hope there will be many seasons to come :D
6:07 George B is definitely an architect, because only architect can get an idea of that kind of name 😤
thats a polish name XD
@@norg5810 Yea bro im know it xD
Pro tip:
With this faction you can build the 3 stories barracks, those only occupy 1 square tile and can transmit power.
So if you want to make a energy connection to a high up place you can use those instead of the high power shafts.
Shoutout to the genius Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz
1:03 Don't worry Matt I'll always dance now too when I sing the intro
8:06 Another the-real-easter-egg sighting! Matt still hasn't noticed though.
11:14 Ah, finally.
Friendship ended with draught. Water is my new best friend. 👌
I've been playing Timberborn for about five days now... and missed this video as a result of my playing. I've figured out a few basic strategies in my first two colony builds, and my third is going well once I figured out how to build up resource stockpiles before building the new district... but I can't figure out how to survive getting into the perpetually-desert areas to scavenge the scrap metal from the ruins... what frustrated me was that the game let me place the scavenger flags within range of the ruins... and then told me that the flags were too far away from my district.
15:00 "District 9 is Panem's bread bowl, giving us the fertile harvest we need to keep rising as a nation. Its amber waves of grain are an inspiration to us all."
―Description from The Hunger Games: Tribute Guide
I don't have the energy to read all comments to check whether someone said that before, I just want to say that one of your patrons naming themselves "Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz" (at 06:11 ) is a reference to a Polish comedy set in WW2 ("How I Unleashed World War II"), in which the main character, named Franek Dolas, annoys a German officer by claiming this is his name. :)
I MISSED THE DOO-DOO-DOO-DOO AT THE END OF THE THEME SONG SO MUCH! THANK YOU RCE FOR BRINGING IT BACK
"they're pumping their wood like you woodn't believe." Might be unintentional but good one Matt!
Just letting you know, since it's such a good point for the iron teeth- each breeding vat run continuously with keep roughly 10 beavers at the start; by the time your comfort is around 30-40 (late game) each will keep roughly 15 active beavers each.
Nice and easy to set and forget if you let them just run and plan for more beavers each time you make a new vat!
The sparks are probably the chips of wood from the wood grinding wheel, but oh well.
Also they changed the design. Used to be a vertical one.
Matt, I do the Do DO do DOOOO dance too. Youre in good company!
You should use the top areas for housing & water pumps for district 9, eventually using all 4 corners as different districts.
You could add a little 6 to the name of the new district, to match the easter-egg in the same corner.
Why is district 9 a good name I don’t get it
@@GreatSeal7 Sci fi film
This series of videos made me buy the game
Wtf, RCE! That dance isn't sad! It's... it's beautiful :')
Don't know if you'll see this, but you can build flood gates in the part of the map that outlets the water off the side. That way when it's close to drought you can save as much water as possible.
Doing a dance while going doot doot is totally fine. Please keep doing it and make a tutorial!
This series is amazing!!!!
