- Shadow Garden is filled with a variety of characters with their own unique personalities and ideas. So it's not surprising that some were more tragic than the others and no one has a more tragic past than Zeta, the last surviving member of her race, the Golden Panther. She is the second last member of the 7 Shadows that I will be talking about in this video, I'll go over her powers and abilities, as well as her Tragic Past before joining Shadow Garden.

I think she doesn't want Cid to die and lose him , he is her spark of hope in the dark , and honestly if she revealed her plans to Alpha now that she received the words of Cid saying "we are not righteous" , she would agree in making him immortal.
But alpha knows that they are not heroes...

1) Her genocide of her people
2) Her findings of the truth of the world
This result in knowing whatever people know about the world is false and none can be trusted on the surface
3) Isolation from her team (Independent acting from the 7 Shadows)
This made her in an echo chamber of her own thoughts
It's is a deadly combo in self destructive harm on oneself.
I think that epsilon is the only one with a spark of confront zeta... Epsilon also want reveage. But she over come that. She is the heart of the group. His dedication is the opposite to zeta talent and mastery of nothing. Is the only one who can speak after an ultimate atack even if is surprisr ( best defence)
And also zeta and epsilon made similar misdion infltration and exploration

I think Zeta's isolation is self imposed. Alpha complains about her lack of contact.

Zeta In the game, is more forward with her feeling than other member of the seven Shades (Beside Alpha and Delta). She often try to flirt and give excuses to spend time with Cid whenever she get the chance which is very cute. So if Asked 'Is she Best girl Candidate?' The answer is yes, She is one of the forward one in The shadow Garden will always try find way to spend time with Cid.

@@jayvincent6 I don't read the Light Novel. I got this from the Game. The Game is called The Eminence in Shadow RPG, it expand the side story of Character involved from The Seven Shades to Cid Classmate like Sherry, Rose, Etc. You might want to ask other person for the LN.
the immortality thing is kinda cids fault and Claire only has the right arm and blood(vampire queen fight) cid obliterated the left arm
the reason i say its his fault is because he hinted at wanting to be immortal and Zeta figured she would give that to him not knowing he was basically learning immortality

In the light novel, he thinks he has plenty of time to give Alpha the tuna king sandwich he owes her because Alpha will probably live 300 years as a elf and that he’ll prolong his life by magic to live at least 200 years before he might get bored of life.
My feeling is that it’s just not a pressing need for him right now since he’s 15. We know the cult of diabolos is prolonging the round members lives by drugs so he can probably do it himself without diabolos cells. Zeta just never considered that Cid can achieve immortality on his own if he wants to and came up with this goal based on some random thing he said to her.

And, just an opinion of mine, Zeta might be a potential deserter/traitor of Shadow Garden. By following the light novels, I can see that she is an intelligent woman and that shows how prominent her future actions could lead Shadow Garden into. Zeta is truly the real Eminence in Shadow, not Alpha.
She likes the other members of shadow garden fine, she just has her own side project. Even stuffing the demon arm into Claire doesnt really mean she intends harm on Claire
Wow! Grea video, friend. Really love how well you explained details of her from her backstory to her motivations and character. This makes me more determined to get the light novels. I enjoyed the anime and now I wan more of the story! Also, I'm surprised she was the one who gave Gamma the idea for the Tuna burgers😲😲I always assumed Sid did that via his memory of burgers from his own world.

Although we've seen only three members, it's kinda hinted that Epsilon and Eta are on Zeta's side to make Cid a God.

In some level...her opposite is not alpha...is epsilon. One is a genius. The other is average. One is the jack all trades (more that beta) but dont pull anything to the end. The other has truely devoted to obe thing. Both want revenge and love cid. But when zeta close his heart epsi is the real heart of the group and his onesan. Also made some similar work in infiltration and scout...if someone could use talk no jutsu is epsilon
Sorry for the really late comment @anime rumpai, work has been crazy lately. That being love this video, and I agree that zeta is really interesting as a character, but even still I can't help but find myself angry at cid for not being both self aware of his situation or the situations the shades were in before he met, if he was maybe zeta wouldn't be extreme enough to turn his sister into a vessel for a Demon to make him immortal(a immortal psycho is something we don't need). I will decide best girl after the last 7 shades video, but I will call zeta the best radical!!!

Zeta kind of reminds me of albedo from overlord with their obsession to do anything for their guy that they like.
I think she is more of a anti-hero than a hero/a subordinate of a hero.
Shadow is the antihero, the others all think he is far more good and caring than he actually is. They constantly misinterpret his words and actions because it's what they want to believe. Cid doesn't even realize the cult of diablos is actually real and treats it as a story that he just told them.

There is something always stood out to me... But why are there no humans in the Seven Shadows? There are 2 Beastkin and the other 5 are Elves, but no human. Not even 1. Besides Cid, but I don't count him. I know Nu is human, but she is a Named Number, and not a part of the original 7. So I wonder why Author-san didn't include a human in the original seven...
I also thought Eta was a human at first, then I saw her ears, lol.
I personally think that the author just likes elves and beastkins more but there was an explanation on it being a very rare affliction in humans, that's why Cid barely encountered any humans with Demon Possession
I think the midgar academy girls are the descendant of the human hero and will be the human representative since they also experience the possession
Its also likely related to how the cult's human subjects are less likely to survive whatever experiments they did and that the Cult has greater powers over the human kingdoms thus is able to get the demon possessed humans first as noted on the first demon possessed they killed which was a human.
The seven shadiw are inly the first seven. Ekf have thicker blood because only have children century to century like... Maybe 0.2x human speed? And beastkin are a harem society the stringest have childrem
While I read volume 5 I was a bit confused about the two Aurora? I know that the Aurora that tags along with Claire is the left arm and the one cid meet is the right arm of diabolos but still is Aurora divided into each parts of diabolos body or am I and idiot or did I miss something

Honestly... I can't help but feel off... I get that Cid (or "Lord Shadow" if you prefer) saved her life and gave her a home, but to go so far as to pull a page out of Lelouch's book from Code Geass just really hurts. Especially given Cid's mentality/personality. His whole shtick is his chuunibyo persona amped to 11, and that's not even to mention his belief that the girls of shadow garden are simply playing along with his chuunibyo fantasy out of gratitude for him rescuing them. Zeta doesn't get enough screen time that she deserves, and a part of me kinda hopes Cid finds out the real truth that what he's gotten himself involved into isn't a game. That way he can carefully but firmly admonish Zeta for her fanaticism to such a degree. I'm not Cid, but I can tell you my own personal beliefs were I in his shoes. This might sound like something out of some white knight fairy tail that has so much cheese to it, it makes 6 cheese macaroni look lacking in comparison; however. Let's just say for the sake of argument I am in his position where every arbitrary bit of "wisdom" when in reality I just pulled it out of my ass comes true, people end up viewing me as some sort of deity etc etc... but this time I'm fully aware of my actions and their subsequent consequences. I'm aware of their loyalty and fanaticism and all that. And I was aware of this plan. This would break my heart and I would be furious. My desire if I had done such an act for them would for them to after successfully defeating the cult would to be to scatter to the 4 winds, wishing for their peace and prosperity through their lives. If not scatter them, then to simply continue mitsugoshi on their own and for me to dissappear without a trace. For Zeta, its not the ending I want for her nor is it the one she deserves. I'd hope she would find another Golden panther beastkin and begin to rebuild her clan, but who am I to say, unlike Cid, I am a REAL background character without a secret double life.

Did he call Shadow a psychopath? I think that is a bit harsh. Also, I've read all the books, both manga, and watched the anime; where does it state that Gamma created Tuna King? I mean, it looks like Mcdonalds, but that is just an anime esthetic choice.
it mention in the game, cid just told gamma a bunch of random stuff that led to zeta catch the fish while gamma does all the rest. just a reminder that daisuke aisawa is heavily involve in the game storyline.
I only have one gripe about this whole series that really freaking annoys me. Why the hell is Cid still so goddamn clueless about everything that's going on around him? I get how it started that way, but as time goes on and more and more evidence that his "game" is actually real starts to pile up and slap him in the face, he should slowly start to realize that somehow, everything he made up was actually right on the money.

so, there is a good reasons for his clueleness.
1. It is stated by Cid himself, that he disregards a lot of things, to be able to concentrate on what's really important - satisfying his chuunibyou wishes.
So he is naturally dont give a sht most of the times and never listens to ANYONE.
2. He made up lies about the cult and believes, that girls just playing along. Therefore everything they report to him about cult activities - are made up stuff to him. So he just never pays attention.
Just like you in class dont pay attention to the lecture, despite you being there and listening to the teacher. And then panicking at exams, because you dont remember anything, that's been told on lectures.
3. I've read WN, LN, manga and watched anime several times. And i dont remember a single encounter between Cid and cult members, where they directly told Cid that they are from cult of Diabolos. They did told him about stuff like 12 knights of the round and Aurora the Witch of Сalamity and empowering drugs. But none of that says "yeah, we are the cult of Diabolos".
Girls do talk about it all, they do report to Cid that cult has 12 knights of the table, that they use drugs to empower themselves and etc. But as said above - Cid doesnt care and doesnt listen to them. Therefore he doesnt know, that drug - is a result of Cult experiments, that 12 knights are cult's top members, that Witch of Calamity Aurora is a Diabolos.
4. In every Cid's encounter with cult members - they had different reasons from Cid's perpective.
When his sister was kidnapped - for Cid it's something mundane, expected, casual. Because in his own world, in Japan, he did seen kidnapping of his classmate and saved her. For Cid, kidnapping of Claire - was just some bandits, that wanted money. Guess what - that's already happened with them. When Claire brought Cid into the forest, to hunt some bandits. And bandits defeated Claire and were willing to sell her. No cult involved.
When Alexia was kidnapped - for Cid it was something to deal with her future husband. They did annoyed him with their false dating. So it was quite expected for that guy to become pissed and kidnap Alexia. No cult involved.
When school was attacked by terrorists - for Cid it was a personal motivation of Lutheran to get artifact and cure himself to become best swordsman again. No cult involved.
My guy cid is living out his dream of being reincarnated in a new world, that's his character.
