As Cid himself states twice in the anime. "I can not be defeated with borrowed power"
Cid's power was his own, he achieve it with experience, obsession(because he far surpassed the realms of determination) and time. Even as soon as he stepped on the new world and opened his eyes he continued training. In the light novel it is stated that he used magic to force his bones and muscle structure to grow in a specific way to optimize combat since birth.
Plus even now, he's beyond the worry of dying in actual battle (noting the fact at this point he might as well be a god). despite this, HE STILL TRAINS HIMSELF DAILY

I hate when Isekai is all just “I was fat and lazy but then I got everything handed to me” and I think that’s why I love this show. He spent a lifetime constantly improving himself like a chad.
Also it always annoys me when someone is a teenager, gets isekai’d, and grows up all over again yet they’re just as naive as before. Like in that Spider isekai, everyone is mentally around the age of 30 but they all act like children still. Cid at least doesn’t act like a child all the time except to keep up appearances.
Yeah, I usually hate all animes of that kind, not just isekai. Like you're just a lazy bum who doesn't put efforts into anything and just complains all the time how you're 'just a background character' and you 'aren't good at anything' and then suddenly every girl in school is jumping on that guy's d*ck.
Those shows are made so that lazy weebs who're in the same category can picture themselves in these character's shoes and feel good about themselves.

I always like the idea instead of being reincarnated, their memories were given to a baby.
They still have to go through everything for their first time, but know what is happening with their bodies.
I mean we all were babies once and had to learn how to control our muscles to not shit ourselfs, but at this point we don't even think about it anymore and just do it. If you would suddenly find yourseld in the body of a baby I don't believe you would immediatly know how to use your body. You would be faster then any other baby, but you are still a baby..

To Cid even being a "genius" with a sword like Iris is, would be considered borrowed strength. Yes she is good with a sword and has a natural ability, but because of that innate talent she never had to learn the sword. She has no conversation skills, and acts purely on impulse. When fighting others that are the same she wins because her "genius" is greater than theirs, but against Cid she is nothing more than a child swinging a stick around playing at being a swordswoman.
Alexia and Rose are closer to Cid. Each having witnessed Shadow (or the Stylish Ruffian Slayer) first-hand they saw and understood (at some subconscious level) the essence of the conversation the Cid engages in (or tries to) when fighting. Both are striving towards that level, but though they are improving and growing stronger, they don't even know exactly what it is they saw and felt. They just keep training and practicing hoping to see or feel in their sword even a glimmer of what they saw in Cid's.

Cid is the absolute gigachad. He doesn't use borrowed strength. Everything he has is something HE worked towards achieving.
True. His magic wasn't something that is fundamentally different or superior than any other human in another world like other isekai protagonists. It wasn't something special that was giving to him by some gods or some weird system. He was born with normal magic, just like the rest of his family and any other people. It is his training that refine his magic to the next level compare to anyone else.

Remember, atl in the web novel, he does go into details how after he did that mana procedure on Alpha that he did similar stuff to himself and his sister when they showed signs of discolouration.
Still, I am sure he would have reached similar heights eventually, just that his mana pool or atl mana disposition was likely higher than the norm.
Not that it does anything to discredit his insane amount of effort. I mean, what human would be constantly compressing their mana (and trying to do it more and more) every waking moment of every day their entire life and not even showing signs being tired? Only insanely obsessed people would do that.

I love the fact that as soon as episode 2, that his “prodigy” sister picks upon the fact that even him being defeated by her is efficient. I wonder how much of her skill comes from growing up with a sibling that even when he throws the fight will “have conversations” with her.
The fact that Beatrix is always picking up on Cid’s muscle tone in even his hands and how he holds himself that she instinctively knew he had promise.
He has basically “unlocked” the essence behind Bruce Lee’s concept of always taking every art and advantage for what they were and adapting effortlessly, adopting everything useful for himself and leaving the rest behind.
His Sister Always knew he has insane talent, even Better than her own talents. She believed the reason why he could atleast fight for a Little while against her Is because he Is growing stronger together with her. She would never grow powerful enough to attract the attention of the Crown Princess if She wasn't determined to do everything to protect her Brother and also learn how to adapt to the situation

Spoiler alert. His sister has an arc somewhat... She ends up with an opportunity due to sid during this anime
We just not gonna talk about the fact he's a reality bending entity that dosent realise it as well he literaly thinks everything he says is an act but every thing he pulls out of his improv ass becomes 100% factual he missed the knife on the map but that still wound up being right the cult of Diablos was some shit he cobbled together wound up 100%true as well as the cursed being being blood tied to the hero.
Cid also has one HUGE advantage that many may even see as a disadvantage. Cid grew up and lived in our world before being Isekaied, a world without magic, and therefore he had to learn everything he did and make himself as strong as he did without the use of magic, Cid went as far as he could go within the limitations of a world without magic and because of that Cid has an advantage over just about EVERYONE in his new world, having magic take him BEYOND his limits. Because the people in a world full of magic where one's magic abilities are synonymous with fighting abilities, people would of course tend to lean on magic over most anything else to the point where it would actually become a crutch, going only as far as magic would take them. I mean i even noticed that people in Cid's new world dont even know what Chocolate is, something that in our world was discovered fairly quickly in history. I think this is just one piece of evidence that shows that the people in that world cant even think about stuff unless its through the lens of Magic. They seem to be very adapt at magical "science", but not so much on anything else. And at the same time someone without magic could never hope to beat someone with magic, people wouldn't even consider worrying about honing any skills that weren't magical in nature. So with Cid having honed ALL of his physical and mental skills, he actually has an advantage over others. It's the same thing as if someone today who leans entirely on Technology to survive and do things for them would be at a disadvantage if that technology stopped working over someone who had learned how to survive in the wilderness with only what they could find or make themselves. So Cid not only has the abilities and knowledge that he acquired before magic was available to him, he now not only has magic to use himself but to also buff ALL of his prior abilities and knowledge.
This reminds me about how the world ruled by magic would neglect medical science whereas us with the science being dominant power would conquer our mortality.

It's like an Olympic athlete who trained and lived in the highlands of the Andes. He was able to match Olympic records. then place him in competition at sea level. How close to superhuman would he be?
Something else I think separates him from other protags is he genuinely relishes in the heat of combat. Most protags, isekai or not, fight because they feel compelled to for whatever reason. Cid? He WANTS to fight, which is at least partly why he doesn't go for the "one hit kill" moves right away.
And there comes yogiri, bro cant do anything to not kill his enemy 😭, even if bro wants to fight for long time he couldn't cuz he always one shots his enemy
I like the fact he just plays a mob when he's not dripped out. I also like how it's somewhat a mystery why he's so OP.

One thing to note about the Aurora battle is that Aurora herself is not complete. Both knew in the end that Shadow will win in their current "conversation", but as Shadow noticed, it could've not ended the way it did and they would have "conversed" a bit longer if Aurora was not sealed. As far as opponents go, Shadow has only properly "conversed" with Aurora. Even Beatrix and Iris were able to "see" Shadow's "conversation", but are not strong enough to give a reply to him.
Short end: Aurora best girl. Fight me.
Beatrix was actually responding, but of course it didn't take long before he went to the offensive and ended it.

Let's not forget how Cid actually presented himself as "Cid" to her, not Shadow, not mob, not Jimina.

Aurora is definetely the strongest "enemy" he faced and the only one who recognized him, Beatrix being a very far second as of now (she didn t recognize him as Cid, she s not there yet) tough in S2 her second place spot
will be lost to Elizabeth, the only other person to see through Cid s "facade"
At least we get to see more of Aurora now that she’s in Claire
There's also 3 things I like to point out about cid combat ability
1) he created a martial arts for (fake ) losing with movement so precise that no one notice including the one attacking
2) in the same arc he basically got nerved because of the anti magic barrier thing and yet still the most powerful one there with so little magic
3) he's able to move so precise that 2 fatal strike isn't enough to kill him the one where he took a hit for the student council president (while being nerved of his magic)and when he got stabbed by the fake hero but in both cases he just walk it off
the one for fake loosing was even more detailed in the light novel. I understand why the anime skimmed over it, they had to save that budget for the final episode fight. But still I wish we could have seen how he lost in 13 different ways against Oriana. In each one of those he managed to get hit a different way, step just at the exact range where he would get a superficial cut and explode a bloodpack, land a different way and ragdoll a different way. By the time the ref stopped them he was a bloody mess.
(As an anime watcher I noticed that..) His skill in mana manipulation is top tier, something Epislon inherited from Cid. Bro is so skilled that I seemed as if he could grab mana itself.
In the school being attacked by terrorists arc, he was slowly accumulating small amounts of mana, compressing it and turning them into mana threads. Which I assume, this requires insane focus and mastery over mana control, yet he does it so effortlessly. Most people use mana like a water hose, blasting huge amounts of mana at the opponent, while Cid uses mana like a small hose with high pressure.
With this much precision, he could manipulate his internal structure, fix up lethal wounds, or reattach limbs.
His greatest feat in this new world would be the compression of mana.

My favorite thing about this is Cid's mentality spoken about in 14:28 just brings to mind Vegeta's intent to practically ANY fight. He doesn't want to just "beat" the enemy. He wants to show just how hopeless a fight against him could be. He wants to see that look of despair when his opponent realizes they didn't stand a chance from the very beginning.
Of course, the difference between Vegeta and Cid is that Cid has the power and skill to back it up while Vegeta has the terrible "Player 2" status permanently over his head.

Cid may have some chinni fantasy, but his efforts and desire to improve himself is the real deal, just like Goku and Vegeta.

He told Alpha that "Demon Possession is a curse a dying Diablos placed on the 3 heroes and their descendants, the Cult of Diablos aim to revive Diablos while culling descednants", while Alpha and Shadow Garden eventually uncover the truth where, "Diablos=Aurora, a girl turned into an artificial monster ala Sephiroth by scientists ala Shinra, the 3 heroes were fellow test subjects injected with her cells ala SOLDIER, the Cult of Diablos is just a front of these scientists to harvest immortality for themselves from Aurora and the descendants". Of course, Shadow Garden would pass this off as Shadow telling an incomplete truth to ease them in to the unsavory bits.
One thing to keep in mind is that compared to anyone in the story. Cid and the Seven Shades (and most of Shadow Garden) can use 99% of magic thanks to their slime suits. In this world, if someone tried to input 100% of magic to increase their abilities, a total of 10% would be used meaning that there is a magic loss of 90%. Even with magic swords that can also boost you, at most you will only get 50%.
This is when the slime comes into play. A slime has a magic conductivity of 99% and thanks that they're pretty much a liquid form, you can pretty much shape them to your will. Cid used this to create his slime suit all to the point where we see him in the LN/Manga/Anime. The same applies for the Seven Shades with Epsilon being the one who can control them way better, this including Cid he has stated before when he noticed that Epsilon uses her slime suit to alter her assets.

Yeah, the fact he went around doing that kind of research is something only LN readers could really appreciate. Goes far to show his attitude on: "I will not give up on the few things I do care about". I think this is by far the most admirable aspect of Cid, and it really shines through his broken mentality and made so many people love him as the protagonist.
Cid was pretty much a Mad Scientist in his youth, which makes sense since magic is something he needed even before he reincarnated.

Part of what makes him so amazing is his dedication and focus on making himself the strongest, smartest, fastest, most OP he can possibly be. Makes him seem insane to other people, but it's just a focused obsession.

If you read the manga, read the Shadow fight scenes with "Devils Never Cry" in the background. Both the original song and DMC 5 song makes the experience so much more satisfying.

Look, cid is indeed Op, but he isn't that overpowered if you compare him with the likes of Subaru and dragon god orsted who can manipulate time ( they can only lose if they desire to) . Aside from characters that can time travel, i can only see cid lose against monsters like gojou from jk and Reinhard from re zero .
In short, if there was an rank to overpowerdness, then cid would be in S+ Rank, a pretty strong individual, but he would fall short against the true monsters like the characters i stated previously. There's also the likes of tatsuya from mahouka koukou no retousei that can instantly turn anyone he touches into dust and stuff but i'm not gonna mention them cuz they are the banner against characters like cid.
Edit: Please correct me if i'm wrong, but the witch of calamity cid fought against was not even one third of Aurora's original power as she herself stated in the new shadow garden game and the latest light novel, so i don't think the comparation you're making when using the first battle they had is good tbh.
This type of content makes me appreciate more the creators of these titles as they have most or prolly all of these considered upon creating the MC (and imagine for all the other characters, plot, story, etc....). So much inspiration, effort, talent, skills, and dedication all into the respective creators (Daisuke Aizawa-sensei, Anri Sakano-sensei) or the arts and story behind this title! just epic!

This is exactly why I loved the show... He doesn't usually use any "world-class abilities" or anything... He uses some simple moves like "moving a centimetre left" to avoid extremely powerful attacks, while also dealing some devastating blows as counters. The clip aninews has shown a lot in this video explains in perfectly: rather than using his op sword, he prefers kicks or punches, but, with his strength, they are just as powerful, and it looks absolutely astonishing

Every other isekai character has a "cheat skill" and/or plus a "system" that helps them.
Cid literally just figures our, experiments, and MASTERS everything by his OWN skill. That puts him above all other isekai characters imo. He got sent to a word with no system, no cheat skill, and no knowledge of magic. He figured it all out himself.
I think this was also evident in the fight vs Iris and Beatrix where he brushed off Iris as she was unrefined compared to Beatrix who he was complementing the whole time on sword skills and called Iris an Amateur when she threw his sword to tackle him just to do the same thing but it worked against Beatrix. Also spoilers but when I was reading him as John Smith dear lord it puts into perspective how precise he was with the threads everyone was jerking off how calculated their positioning were in trapping them man’s a giga genius.
I mean He also did read through this world's history books and at every sketchy stuff he found their history, he thought of scenarios where a an evil organization is trying to manipulate things in the background just for fun and to make an elaborate detail for his Chuuni dreams.
Which is Ironic since he did spot real sketchy things in their history and his mere conspiracy theories ended up being right.

And he was not really that accurate initially, The Cult is not there to revive Diabolis. It's Alpha that did the actual research and provided the real accounts while Cid had gone along with it and updated the setting based on that feedback.
In terms of things he has stumbled upon that he got right is that there was a Cult that was linked to Diabolis that was also linked to the Heroes and the Curse. There are only so many permutations that are possible based on that.
Even if the setting was off Alpha would have still found the truth and fix the setting.

But you can pretty much point at our own history and call every large organization as corrupt and evil with elites manipulating people. i think people get so distracted by how powerful he is that they forget that he trained to earn that power, and was not given to him like other Isekai protags.
The thing that sets him apart from other OP Isekai protagonists is that he didn't change his life goal after being Isekai'd. His path never changed, and as a result of this, nothing he had gained from his old word was invalidated. He didn't lose anything from being Isekai'd. His Purpose never changed, merely his environment.

@@wanttogetfood Alpha. The Curse is precisely the condition of being overloaded with magic so once he understood that to the point of fixing it he also understood how to use it on himself. Once he can do that there is no cap on the amount of mana he can absorb.
His mana is so stable that it can literally heal the curse with it.
Another aspect to that is his great control over his mana. So while others rely on genetics for that power he relies on control and structure.
It's why he can pull off wide area barriers.
Think of it like the diffrence where while others are using mana as sand he uses mana like microchips.
I didn't realise just how awesome Cid was until I watched a video from another reactor who pointed out how he beats each opponent with different moves EVERY time. I hadn't even noticed and then went back and watched all of the fights and was so shocked! He even says his finishing move differently every single time (I am Atomic, I am the All Range Atomic, I am Recovery Atomic, I'm Atomic), it's actually insane how he chooses to overwhelm every opponent in a unique way

I can't wait for season 2, and I hope we get even more seasons after that! Such a solid show

From a couple of things I have seen, I think they have enough material for one or two more seasons. I do not think that the source is still completed so they will probably slow down the show production a bit to match the source material's release, well, after the next season at least...
I think the last fight was a perfect example of fighting being a conversation, with us having the duality of Iris and Beatrix. Beatrix was the one who can keep up and relay her words to Cid as they fought with immense speed and technique while Iris who was desperate to just win gave out screams and shout to show her power but without the knowledge she was just slowly catching up during the fight. I might be spewing nonsense but as I watched that whole fight unfold the meaning of a fight being a conversation between people with knowledge “technique” and words “power” was perfectly captured.
Iris being someone who wanted to win and show her worth is doing her best to catch up in a debate and Beatrix giving a good argument but ultimately just gets shut down because she lacked enough words.

This is one of the reasons why Cid is my favorite isekai protagonist and why eminence in shadow is one of my favorite isekai series. Unlike a lot of other isekai that says the MC is OP because of magic, and they just so happens to be an Otaku, Cid is OP because he dedicated himself to training and refining his technique. This is why he was able to defeat Olivier despite his magic being heavily restricted. Most other isekai protags would've either died or their plot armor would've saved them, while for Cid, it never felt like plot armor.

@@fredericabitch3983 Rudeus suffers, self-realizes his faults (esp. in what hasn't yet been shown), and learns. When Cid gets donuted for real in the anime, let me know. It's not about being the greatest. It's about being the best person after being the worst person. It's what separates the good from the bad.
@fredericabitch3983 Rudeus is strong but he is by no means OP compared to other isekai MC. He isn't automatically the strongest or can dominate opponents who've been training for years when he only had weeks or months of training simply because he has magic. He's talented sure, but he can lose to fighter with more experience. What makes Rudeus a great character is that we see his training and growth. With most other isekai MC, they're strong because they're the MC, there's no further explanation other than them being the hero ot having cheat abilities. With Cid, he was already at peak performance and could take out an experienced military combatant who's used to killing. When Cid got isekai'ed, he didn't rely heavily on his magic or cheat abilities like other MC's would, he honed his mind and body beyond its peak and was able to push his magic beyond what most people could do. Basically, most isekai MC's are regular average Joe's who would get beat up in a fight, while Cid is like Baki character who got isekai'ed.
@@bioshogushin606 Rudeus is never close to the strongest, and he's never meant to be. He's a piece of the world that lives amongst it. Even Overworld's Ainz is not necessary for the world to function. Shadow is a show where the MC takes up the whole story, which is garbage.
I went as far as I did and the MC bored me to death because he does not grow. His companions are too one-dimensional and forgettable. The world feels too basic. It's like a fiction that I wrote for English class when I was twelve in less than a day because I slacked off.

I really loved you pointed that it is his knowledge and mastery that sets him apart from the rest, just like shadow garden is uber strong just because they were trained by him, not just natural talent.
I also loved those moments you used in the video, the fighting in the sewers where he slaps the guy, like a master toying with a disciple , and the fight against the 2 top dogs in the world, where he stomp both at same time, causing more harm to their pride than physical injuries.
I found funny how Eris was able to perceive the gap between her and mundane man, but when it was shadow, the gap got so big she cant see it anymore, like a person can see how big a lake is, but the ocean is just not possible to process.

Out of all the weapons that cid uses he likes to use the sword because of appearances for being an immanence in shadow, but when it comes to actual personal choice he actively chooses the crowbar unlike other people who would choose the mithral or slime swords.
Which really makes me wonder why he doesn't use slime crowbars sometimes.
I have seen him make little crossbows, or sharpened slime tentacles, or swords, but haven't seen him make slime crowbars yet.

This is exactly why i loves TEIS, Cid power if we lookin at it isnt smth special like Rimuru or Ainz, he's more like Rudeus in that regard (aside that Rudeus consist of 2 souls and resulting his large MP) where they both actually put a hard work to go there. IRL Cid is literal batman that put effort in any martial arts, put it together, and made his own style as efficient as possible. Every effort he put engraved into his soul and when he reincarnated, he only needs to develop his new body to make up the knowledge he has and at the same time learn how to use magic as good as possible. His magic talent is nothing special maybe even less than his sister but he put effort into it like what he did in his old world. The result is his immense magical power and also the mastery of it. Everyone in TEIS can be at his level if they put same amount of effort and mindset into it. Take chance Alexia, her sword technique is basically the same as Cid at its core, so she can be at his level if she put her mind into it. Magic mastery can be learned like what Claire learned from Cid in how to effectively use magical power. And also the Shadow Garden member, their hero blood aside, they were put into an intense training that's why even a normal member can be stronger than average knight there, and 7 shades is a tier below Cid. The only cheat that Cid got is his memories pra-isekai, even so it only contains everything he already learned and worked hard on, not just a knowledge he suddenly got.
So for me Cid is the most OP isekai MC, he is OP not because he is special, but because he strive and works hard for it.
Absolutely agree. If any of the characters go through the path of Сid by spending the same amount of time training, and having at least a little talent for analyzing opponents, then they can definitely achieve the same strength. Other mcs are unreasonably strong and their power cannot be obtained if you are not the main character. I can't imagine at all that an ordinary office worker could dominate a fight without using cheating abilities.
That is way Cid is special for his determination and ambition with his mastery of combat arts.
I mean, it’s not like “working hard” would get someone to his level though either. You can work as hard as you want, but you won’t be mastering multiple different fighting styles and different sword fighting styles in a decade, let alone an entire lifetime. So to have a (relatively) young dude learn all of that and then somehow combine it together into his own style? Yeah, that’s not working hard, that’s basically just as OP as any other isekai.
Doesn’t mean that his ideals or work ethic are any less, but to say all of his skill and power came from just training and being devoted is some bs.

Yeah, you're right. Although it's not just about effort. Cid is also a prodigy and loves to research and experiment with his magic. It is impossible for anyone to even approach his level without following the proper method used by him.
Even before coming to this world, Cid wanted to know about magic. He researched anything which seemed magic in his previous world, such as ki, internal energy etc and used those principles in this one.
Just imagine if cid were to take on a student and train him in the most efficient way (which took him years to develop)

As you can see in ep1, he even struggled to beat an ex-soldier (who probably stopped training). Thus, he wouldn't be a match for a current soldier, let alone a navy seal or an mmo fighter.
Let's say in his previous life, he started going to martial arts classes at 12 yrs age, even though many people start earlier, (I started karate when I was 9, though I quit after 2 years 😅) he would have 5 years of training. Then he reincarnates at 17. In the new world (which is more centered around fighting, let's say he starts at 5 yrs, he'll have 10 years of training.
In total he'd have at least 15 years of training. Bruce Lee created his own style in his 20s, Conor McGregor was an international level MMO fighter by the age of 23. In front of that, Cid being capable of what he is doesn't seem too farfetched. Especially since this world has extremely under developed fighting techniques.

Basically Cid doesn't have anything or anyone. He just died, reincarnated in a world with magic. He honed himself, learned magic from scratch to reached the strength he has in the world he reincarnated in.

Cid demonstrated from his "training" with his sister the way he always feinted a decisive, lethal blow the first moment he saw an opening just to prove to himself how quickly he could end the fight. Iris was the first opponent he had to even notice he was doing so, even if she wasn't sure what she was seeing. No other opponent before Iris even knew how quickly and surgically he could beat them, and I reckon that her ability surpassed everyone else to the point that Iris alone could even see, albeit barely, just how Cid was satisfying himself with his finishing moves he'd always pull out of at the last second.
You're right, almost. Cid always knew he was doing this. He did this intentionally with his sister and Iris.
Iris was born with an unimaginable talent for battle. Her battle sense, strength, reflexes were among the best in the world.
The only problem was, unlike Cid who focused on technique, she always used her overwhelming strength to end every fight of hers. And thus she was lacking in other aspects.
Cid used this to play with her. Because her battle sense was so strong, she could see what each of those feints were meant to be. But since she hadn't honed this sense, she couldn't recognize they were feints and not actual attacks.
So basically Cid did what every martial artist does, he used his opponent's power against them.
The only CZcamsr i know who can build a constructive and precise explanation video unlike others who focus only on what most people already know and likes to hear again.

Shadow really is the only one of the Isekai protag that really slams down the meaning of " Overwhelmingly powerful" the last episode clearly shows this. That moment when The princes tells Shadow there is no where to run or hide . And Cid asked those 3 questions. The Impact of "And Why?" was something highlighted the fear and realization that this guy is simply incomprehensible. Not just in terms of magic but basic and advanced combat experience . I mean he went so far as using a crowbar just to show them that even in combat experience they are years away from being able to even make him consider being serious.
The thing is, even if you have 70 years of combat experience, it's not guaranteed that you'll learn every detail's nuances. Cid is the only person in existence who can do that.
At the end of the light novel for that time I got reincarnated as a slime, rimuru creates and destroys 10,000 universes in an instant

All Rimuru has to do is chant a spell's name like Gluttony and it comes out but Cid doesn't rely on something like the voice/system of the world and just uses plain slime (but in such refined manner through expert control of mana that he even makes slime OP). Hell, Rimiru's abilities are so braindead that he sometimes just lets Raphael autopilot his body for swordplay. If he didn't have Raphael do you think Rimuru is anywhere close to Cid in terms of swordplay and martial arts? That was what the video was trying to explain.

Yup, you could say other Isekai did create things, but of most of it is because they have a game interface hinting that they can make x thing by combining y and z.

It's not shown in the anime, but Eta, the scientist of the Seven Shades, also created magic gear to boost Shadow Garden's overall power. She shares Cid's lack of empathy, even valuing experimenting and research above Cid.
Technically, the Seven Shades are masters in their craft, while Cid's a jack of all trades of what they're proficient at.

You basically described the thought process of an elite boxer, which makes sense considering Cid is a martial arts expert. Boxers (the good ones) don't look to just punch harder, but they observe the first couple of rounds, then make a plan and react according to their observations. Interesting stuff.

Why does this matter? It's because on what define a master is. On common mind, a master is someone who so good at something that no one can't compare. This definition is good, but that's only on the saying there no one to compare to that person. While in reality, there will be always someone who is already above you or someone that will surpass you.

That's why i said yes, Cid is a Jack of all trade. He can almost do every martial arts and technique in expert way. But i don't think he's a master of all, because from everything He learn, everything He experience, and every knowledge he can think of. He makes his own martial art style and improve it to absolute limit, and when He got magic, He improve it again to the point of the Atomic level. A level on same concept of Nuclear warhead in our world and go even further beyond. That's why He is the best OP Protagonis.

For those who doesn't know, this series has a game "Eminence in Shadow RPG Master of Garden" and it contains various side stories not found in anime, manga, and novel thus far and is heavily implied canon by author in LN vol 5 afterword (he/she stated of how he/she are directly involved with all the stories and puts stuff that wasn't able to fit in the LN).
To be precise, it's highly likely that all the side stories (Seven Chronicles), extra stories, event stories, and character stories are canon as it fits the timeline and settings of the series (also drops various lore, some of em was only just revealed in LN vol 5). But for the character dialogues, which is more of a gal game segment, that's more like an IF just to see & dive more into how characters' reactions to this and that would be. Since the main story focuses a lot on our MC's perspective and his roleplay journey in the changing world, it doesn't have much time to show the development on other side characters so I highly recommend to those seeking more of the series haha
Tbh, if you're not a gamer, you can just google for playthrough of the game, it's a gacha game that takes time to grind after all, personally I go to a channel called Cleater.
Seven Chronicles is a side story in Master of Garden about the development of Shadow Garden during the time skip before Cid went to school (from Alexandria, Natsume, Mitsugoshi, etc), Character stories features moments either in youth or in-between events of the main story for the corresponding character. Extra stories are as the name suggests. Event stories depends... Some of em are like bonus story stuff, some of em are more like side story than extra as it teases on new locations in the series not yet in the main story (such as beastkins nation), and the latest one is bout 666 and her character development in shadow garden.

Not really, it doesn't really matter what world you would put him in, Cid would be Cid.
Imagine putting him in the world of "Kumo desu" he would enter the Great Elroe Labyrinth for fun and training.
Not really, Cid was pretty much average in terms of abilities in this life, the whole point is that all of Cid's OP abilities were the result of sheer effort and insanity. It wasn't clearly stated in the anime or even manga, but every aspect of Cid's powers were through experimentation and refinement on his part. For example, his enormous magic potential wasn't something he was born with, but something he acquired after experimenting with Alpha. He originally wanted to hand her over to the church for the money but decided not to when he noticed how much magic she had in her body. He figured he could replicate the condition, but he wanted to find a way to prevent the whole "mutate into flesh lump" deal. The side effect of controlling the state, he invented the cure, and he applied what he learned about the condition increasing magical power while at the same time controlling it to gain enormous magical powers. Cid also states he regularly remodels his body, he has such fine control over it that he could even pull his heart to the other side of his body if need be, and has made it a point that even if you strip away his magic, he's still really REALLY strong without it. So its not a case of the world working in Cid's favor, but rather Cid found a way to exploit the properties of the new world to his advantage.

I love characters that are overpowered not because of skill, powers or equipment, but who they are and how they bring all those things together to achieve what they want. Anos from "Misfit of Demon King Academy" is the same too.
It also helps that Cid is clearly bat shit insane and somehow the reader is able to follow the weird insane logic that he operates with. I think that just shows the major strength of the writing for the series. Cid is the type of maniac who eats an ice cream cone by biting into it.

This was an amazing watch. Great action and comedy all in one.
I subbed to hidive just for that show. I heard about it from this channel actually before it came out and it was better than I thought it'd be.
