I have Wyze Cams and Spotify and Google Home but was thinking I needed SmartThings to make this connection and action. I guess all I need is IFTTT from what you demonstrated here. Do you have SmartThings ? If so, do why would not do this in SmartThings ? I'm getting confused as to what products we need so that we can communicate with all smart devices.
Does Spotify have to remain open in order for it to trigger from your speaker? I encountered problems after closing, it would then play from my computer and not the device I previously selected.
You threw me off when you said to have the camera recognize them (instead of to have the camera detect their motion). There are cameras that can do that but sadly the Wyze cannot (yet). Great camera and very cool video as well!!

Did you set it up to play spotify on your google home device? It looks to me that the music would play where ever you have spotify setup to play to. very slick.

One quick question though, if someone triggers the motion sensor and then leaves, and a second person comes in, what will happen if 1) the second person comes in after the music is done, will he trigger the applet again; 2) if the second person comes in when the music is still playing, will it restart the applet and the song will be played form the beginning? In the Spotify app located on the lower left-hand corner next to the volume slider, you'll find an icon that looks like a Computer Monitor and Speaker. Click that icon and you can specify which device will play your music.
Hey Troy, great video. I am using Android phone IFTTT, i done created trigger IF motion detected, then send me email. BUT i am stuck in the "hit command space bar" to pull up the script, how to do that in Android Phone?
Elizabeth Pauly, yes! It’s actually super easy with android to play Spotify. You don’t need any of those extra steps. Just look for Android in the IFTTT program and make it play music etc

I was super sad to only then notice you where using apple products to make this happen. Is it possible you can replicate this on PC with gmail? (on any other mail client that is not apple? ) You sure would be helping out a guy who is feeling very sheepish right now.
John webster $3k!!! What did you get? If your more android based then you can easily skip all those steps utilizing Apple. IFTTT has android functions to play music without all the other steps. I.e. you can achieve all this with IFTTT
@@TroysView i live in New Zealand so costs are much higher. $1300 6 cam ezviz nvr set up, plus a bunch of wifi sensor and switches, echo unit etc. I am trying to do the dog barking like you have, and then if a second camera detects movement i have a water tap that is activated by wifi that will run all sprinklers as once. :-) should be a fairly good deterrent. so are you saying that i can activate the spotify track with IFTTT, do i need to include the email activation steps? Thanks

Got a challenge for you. How can we specify person detected rather than motion, as motion is way too sensitive and will go off from the wind blowing?

If Wyze detects motion Then send email #Motion
If receive email #Motion then play Spotify
There is no command in IFTTT that lets you play music from Spotify if you receive a specific email.

Hello, I didn't need smart things. IFTTT was all I really needed to tie it all together
