Wyze is one of the greatest startups I've ever seen. They don't try to gouge you with subscription fees and restrict access. Having ITTT really allows these to be a game changer in the security market.
Hi Lon, You can buy extra contact sensors and motion sensors starting today at their website or through their app. Limited questions though. Also, the later version cams now support RTSP with a beta firmware.
I love this cameras last year I saw your video immediately went into amazon And bought a waterproof casing kit and i used them outside around my home like security cameras and they worked perfectly thank for the recommendation ❤️🙌🏻✌🏻
Hey Lon I see that you're still putting out quality content even after years and years of uploading, keep up the awesome work man and congrats on 220K subscribers. Have a great day!
It's maybe me but your comment sounds kinda odd because it implies (specifically the use of "still" and "even") that such a content creator's quality should decline over time? It's rather the opposite; you know... experience :) Just to be clear, I don't mean to diminish the quality and effort put into the production of this content.
I'm in Missouri my dad is in NY and I sent him a share of my camera and he could see it clear as day this is the best little camera I ever seen I bought 2 and I love them I give then a 15
Love the cameras, but I do have a intermittant problem with both the v2 cameras and the new sensors and motion detectors. Usually I get notifications within 5 seconds whether on wifi or cellular. BUT sometimes I have noticed that they can take up to as long as 14 minutes before I receive a notification! WYZE has not been able to help. I have noticed other users have also mentioned this. My phone on Verizon and my wifi which is on Spectrum work excellently otherwise, so I cannot put the blame on those areas.
I have a few Wyze cams and love them, but when it comes to the sensors I'd rather stick to what I already have, which do not have the limitations you claimed at the end of this video and can have automations based on location. That system I have is SmartThings which also works with IFTTT
i would imagine if these wyze cameras would work as security cameras for the home this is a terrific review my question lon is concerning about the best phones to use as a Remote for Chromecast obviously you can use chromecast on the nvidia shield set top box But the reason i brought this discussion up is cause, recently i just saw a ad for these google pixel phones and was curious to see what android phones could work with the chromecast to cast stuff to the tv
There's an issue with the contact sensors bricking if it's without power for too long. From what I experienced and read, it will lose it's mac address and blink 5 times instead of three when trying to pair. I don't know if they fixed it in current contact sensors or if it affects the motion sensors.
Think you can enclose the camera in a sealed container to keep it from getting wet on the outside of your home like the one they use for underwater cameras?
Set the cookie light color to Cookie-Monster blue. 🍪 Also, you _know_ that your kids will learn to make sure the sensor on that cookie jar is never aligned so that the camera will run out of power / space and then they can go in undetected. ;) Seriously though, pretty cool set of tools. Thanks again.
So you can't set the whole system up to turn it self of and on based on if you are within wifi range of your home connection with your phone? It would save a huge amount of battery life especially for those who spend a lot of time at the location, seems like one of the first features needed.
I have three Wyze Cams and LOVE THEM. Now I want to use Wyze Sense to have ceiling lights turn on when anyone walks into a bedroom closet. Currently a one-way light switch turns on two screw-in LED ceiling light bulbs. If I go with Wyze Sense, what types of light bulbs would be needed? Do you suggest Wyze Sense Motion or Door sensor for this use? Thanks for a great review!
The Wyze bulbs will probably be the most seamless way to go as it will all work within the same app. And the bulbs are pretty inexpensive too. But you could IFTTT it with just about anything.
Hi Lon, thanks for the video, I installed a motion sensor in my mailbox and when I put an envelop the motion doesnt recognize the motion, this is because its too quick for the motion device, my purpose was to know everytime the mailman put mail in my mailbox.
I would like to put a sensor on my plastic mailbox door. The distance is 45 feet to the camera. I wonder if they would communicate. Except for the wood house wall, there are no other obstructions. Thanks.
I would advise you to inform your letter carrier prior to installing a sensor inside your mailbox. As a retired letter carrier, I have seen incidents where certain "legalistic" minded carriers/management types can freak out and cause you problems.
Lon, will they attach to the interior of cold doors? Our external doors get cold in winter (-30C), so I'm wondering if they will stick to the inside of them?
Great camera. I installed one at home while I was out of the country. Really cool to be able to see inside my home anytime during the day or night on my phone while on vacation. on the other side of the earth! So I am excited to try out the sensors. One comment about the video. Why are those "museum" pieces in the background? :) Yes I mean the "ancient" monitors!
Hm. Seems like a real shortcoming that these aren't useable exterior. I know they have covers for the v2 now, but these sensors would be very helpful outside my house.
Why would you mount the sensor outside where someone could tamper with it? Camera I would understand being outside but sensors might not be a good idea.
@@lamarm2264 seems like they could be tampered with no matter where they are. I mean, just being inside your house isn't going to keep your kids or spouse from tampering with them. It really depends on your application.
@@VirginiaBressler Sure. But good luck with recovering your stuff in tact if they take off before the cops arrive. Like an anxiety inducing disaster movie, for me at least. It would be nice to be able to remotely activate an alarm.

I am a Wyse survivor. I bought one of the originals, mounted it inside a window overlooking the front yard. Set up all the parameters to send alerts to my phone, and all that.
