100% the X Pro 3, but its a bit heavy, so I am sticking with the nearest XE, the XE2, for now. The 4 is more like a mini X100 than a mini X Pro.

I think it’s worth mentioning that the X-E4 plus the XF27mm R WR should be pretty darn close in depth to the X100V, while offering a tighter “normal” lens field of view, and still costs $1049 as a bundle.

I have the x100v as my fun, grab and go digital camera and it’s perfect for that. I love having the hybrid viewfinder as I prefer the optical viewfinder but will use the evf from time to time. It is great to have that option and it’s shame no other camera systems has something like it.

⚡ Nice comparison video. I have both the X-Pro2 and the X100V. They both get used an equal amount. I tend to use the X100V to just simplify things when I start overthinking what I should put in my camera bag. I also noticed that Voigtländer M mount lenses tend to be used more frequently on my X-Pro2 since I picked up the X100V.

X-E series is definitely the back-up body par excellence for the Fuji system. I have the X-E2s but I'm getting the X-E4 + 27mm mark II combo precisely because I want a slim back-up body with tilt screen and weather resistant pancake lens for my X-Pro3.

Great comparison. Thank you! 1.5 years ago, I got the “V” as a “fun camera” next to my Nikon full frame DSLR. Barely touched the Nikon ever since and ultimately got rid of it. I looked long and hard at the pro3. But that screen is too damn gimmicky for my taste. And after years of hauling gear around and always debating which lens to bring, the “35mm only” obligation has been a bliss. That said, the 50mm equivalent tele converter and the Fuji EF-60 flash do wonders for me (for the occasional portrait). Such a nice “complete” pack, all weather sealed and without the temptations of getting a closet full of lenses….

Well, I own the X-Pro 3 as well as the ‘2’, love those rigs and they nicely complement my X-T2 that I use for action work. The X-E2s was my introduction into the Fuji system when moving from Canon after 35 years back in 2017. At first glance, the X-E4 was looking like a “must-have” to replace the X-E2s, however, on closer inspection (via CZcams) the missing focus switch from the from of the camera is a big negative for me, that said, I will withhold judgment until I have a chance to try it out, once my local camera store gets a few in stock. Love the looks of the ‘100’, but the fixed lens is a deal killer....for now🤤 but I might succumb at some future date when my wallet allows.

Very nice video, nicely summed up and compared the 3 cameras. Its also very interesting how Fujifilm thinks and is not afraid to experiment and at the same time some Fuji decisions are "interesting" there is always something missing in a camera. I think would be fantastic, if Fuji could make the X100V with interchangeable lenses, with IBIS and bigger EVF. this would be a THE RIGHT CAMERA for everything! :) what is your opinion?

i have always been drawn to the x100 for the simplicity of choice.
If you only got 1 lens, you learn to get the most out of it. It becomes natural that you know what setting has which effect.
That and yes, they are smaller.
Still, the ability to have different lenses for different occasions. That draws me too!

My X100 is starting to show it's age so I've been looking at upgrading to the V but now I don't know if I want the x-100V for the pure shooting simplicity or the X-E4 for the option of lenses. I just love shooting with the X100. It's just such a great experience and the fixed focal length just keeps things so simple. ⚡

Great breakdown! I own the X-Pro3 and I was really interested in the X100V but the 23mm focal length just isn’t for me. I wish there was either a 16mm (24mm full frame equivalent) or a 56mm (85mm full frame equivalent) version. Although I assume the lens probably wouldn’t be able to remain that small. ⚡️

I find that I enjoy photography more with my film cameras (no modern features) so either of these will likely make me happy. Does the X100V have digital zoom like the X70?
If so - does it work while shooting in Raw or Raw+JPEG unlike the X70?
35mm equiv is great, but punching in to 50mm equiv and maybe 80 or 90 without giving up Raw would be great and not being able to is my main hangup with my X70

    • @pfom
      @pfom Před 3 lety +1

It has a digital teleconverter so you can only have two steps up to 50 and 70 mm eq. When you use JPEG+RAW mode the latter contains the 35 mm frame and you need to crop it yourself.

Good comparison but you were late mentioning unique and to me important X100V capabilities like the leaf shutter, which permits great fill in flash (as only the V has flash), and the built-in ND filter. You did not mention the amazing digital zoom (50mm and 70MM) available in the X100V, which I have used with great quality results while traveling. These things separate the X100V from the pack.

    • @benjhaisch

The best is X100V because you don’t need to buy extra lenses and you don’t need them. Leaf shutter and build in flash is also a major target. Perfect camera for traveling, city, nature but not for wildlife… so as always a compromise but a good one.

⚡⚡ Watched it twice! Great video and thanks. Lovin that ultra retro small film camera look and lack of buttons of the X-E4. Excited to see the head to head X-E4 / 23 f2 vs X100V / 23 f2 image quality difference. Fwiw, it'd be good to compare the X-E4 / 27 2.8 to the X100V in terms of size.

I’m curious which lens hood is on that xe4 23mm f2. Which specific brand is that vented hood

Have you been using your presets on these x-trans4 cameras or sticking to their own sims? I know you put a lot of work into them being consistent with lots of cameras. I own both your packs, and have an X-E4 on pre-order.

What do you think of the simulations on each camera, do they all look the same ?

Been shooting solely on the x100v for the last 6 months and got the TCL(50equiv) a little before Christmas. I personally would love to continue shooting only with the x100v and TCL but I feel down the road I’ll end up with an xpro3 maybe 4 if it’s out by the time I upgrade. With the fujicron line up. I miss my xpro2 ! The feeling of the xpro line in the hand is definitely premium I’d say. Also ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️😂👌🏼

Benj, thought about adapting your M mount lenses to the X-E4? I'm an M10-P user and am looking for a backup camera that I can use my M lenses on with an adapter. What I don't know is how usable the X-E4 would be with the Fujifilm M adapter. Love to see you test that aspect.

Oh that’s crazy, I’ve had that issue with the EOS R but not with the Fuji. I think because the crop sensor probably eliminates that corner stuff

Amazing x100v with films simulations, ND filter, digital zoom 50, 70 mm, small and discreet

haha! I wish! It'd really be nice to have that and the X-S10 as well [which I think is probably the most middle ground of all of the cameras]

choosing is just so "hard" - well not for the pro3 for budget reasons but the use case between the X100V and the E4.
sorry if i asked ou this before but do you ever use the X100V flash - I assume you can set the power "brightness" of it to light the subject enough but not make it too bright?
