They did in 1987, but the creators didn't come out with their contracts that they should've been making royalties until the 2002, when one of them saw the Ms. Pac Man x Galaga arcade machine and wondered where their money was.

I always knew AtGames was a villain all along - ever since a well-intentioned friend bought me their Sega Genesis flashback console! I have NEVER seen Genesis games run so poorly in my life - glad Sega made their own Genesis Mini to right that terrible affront to gamers everywhere. The Ms Pacman situation is equally unforgivable. I really do think the Ms Pacman was the first playable female video game character. She's part of gaming history and not including her in modern titles is nothing short of disrespectful even though I know their hands are legally tied.

When I was about 5 (80s) the local sandwich shop had Ms Pac Man and it was my first exposure to video games. Had a crush too. It was the legs, the original art gave her curvy lady legs. I felt the same way about a Tina Turner poster. I knew what I was about.
My only issue with the new designs is that they've started doing that "the girl characters are more human looking than the guy characters" thing due to not giving the Pac-Mom and Pac-Sis the black dot eyes and big noses
Agreed I would be totally ok with this newish characters, design and change to the lore , if it wasn't for the human like eyes , it's off-putting and doesn't fit next to male pacs

THey want leverage over Bandai to either sell the rights back to them for a lot more than they are worth. Or get Bandai to produce Ms. Pac man stuff that they can profit off of. It's all about getting a quick and easy buck for them. They aren't lookign to create anything worthwhile. They just see video games as an exploitable market.

More likely Banda would jsut throw their weight around a bit and crush Atgames. They aren't a big enough company to seriously fight Bandai. It's just Bandai isn't willing to go that far for a character they can just replace and most gamers won't care too much. The name and outfit changed but that's it and most people are probably fine with that. So it's just a cheaper solution than having to spend time and money crushing some IP thieves.

What confuses me is if you watch the trailer for that Pacman World remake, you'll hear remixes of songs that were originally from Ms. Pacman (such as the main theme and the first intermission/"They Meet"). So does Atgames only own royalties for the characters and not the music then?

Okay I'm going to be honest I know absolutely nothing about Pacman lore so this video really helps me out. The only Pacman games I've played are regular Pacman and Pacman World 2. In my opinion the changes that they've done don't really bother me all that much which I'm probably going to get hate for saying but I don't mind Pac Mom's design though I will agree that the name sounds weird maybe Pac Wife would have worked or something

Sonic 3 gets rereleased, there’s some legal troubles they gotta go through, they lost a couple music tracks. Pac-Man World gets remastered, there’s some legal troubles involved, they take away Pac-Man’s wife.
I still want Ms. PACMAN Maze Madness 2. It was canceled. That was a good ass game. Always had love in my heart for the character, and if it weren't for the legalities, I feel lole we would get an HD remake of that. Wish they could do a Disney/Universal, or Namco buy her outright. They may not want to pay them, nor frequently make games about her, but it's obvious that this is a reoccurring thing.
Ms. Pac-Man is still available on Steam, PS4/5, XBox One/Series, and mobile. I think they'll probably keep selling it standalone so it minimizes what they have to pay to AtGames. If they bundled it in something Pac-Man Museum+ they'd have to pay a percentage of the whole game instead of on the couple bucks they usually charge for Ms. Pac-Man standalone. This way it let's them keep the game out there, but minimize what they have to pay. And also not have to pay on things like Pac-Man World or Pac-Land where Ms. Pac-Man is just story character.
I honestly think Pac-Mom (who I'm guessing is going to be Namco's own new Ms. Pac-Man) looks better than Ms. Pac-Man. Idk, there's just something about her design that really just appeals to me more than the original. Also, Pac-Boy and Pac-Sis (I think these are good names too.) are pretty much like they were before (except Pac-Sis has her mother's eyes.). When you think about it, Ms. Pac-Man the arcade game is one of the first, and still one of the most famous, examples of a video game being modded.

Okay I'm going to be honest I know absolutely nothing about Pacman lore so this video really helps me out. The only Pacman games I've played are regular Pacman and Pacman World 2. In my opinion the changes that they've done don't really bother me all that much which I'm probably going to get hate for saying but I don't mind Pac Mom's design though I will agree that the name sounds weird maybe Pac Wife would have worked or something

This is honestly kinda nightmare fuel if you look at it from PAC-Man’s perspective, almost his entire family has been insidiously replaced from under his nose
Sonic 3 gets rereleased, there’s some legal troubles they gotta go through, they lost a couple music tracks.
Pac-Man World gets remastered, there’s some legal troubles involved, they take away Pac-Man’s wife.
I still want Ms. PACMAN Maze Madness 2. It was canceled. That was a good ass game. Always had love in my heart for the character, and if it weren't for the legalities, I feel lole we would get an HD remake of that. Wish they could do a Disney/Universal, or Namco buy her outright. They may not want to pay them, nor frequently make games about her, but it's obvious that this is a reoccurring thing.
Ms. Pac-Man is still available on Steam, PS4/5, XBox One/Series, and mobile. I think they'll probably keep selling it standalone so it minimizes what they have to pay to AtGames. If they bundled it in something Pac-Man Museum+ they'd have to pay a percentage of the whole game instead of on the couple bucks they usually charge for Ms. Pac-Man standalone. This way it let's them keep the game out there, but minimize what they have to pay. And also not have to pay on things like Pac-Man World or Pac-Land where Ms. Pac-Man is just story character.

I honestly think Pac-Mom (who I'm guessing is going to be Namco's own new Ms. Pac-Man) looks better than Ms. Pac-Man.
Idk, there's just something about her design that really just appeals to me more than the original.
Also, Pac-Boy and Pac-Sis (I think these are good names too.) are pretty much like they were before (except Pac-Sis has her mother's eyes.). So are Professor Pac and Chomp-Chomp (Now known as Pac-Buddy).

I think I prefer the original design, but the new one isn't much of a change for me to not like it either. The only thing that bugs me is the name. You can't call her Pac-Woman?

williams entertainment (now known as WMS industries) used to own midway. no wonder they published the SNES version of Ms.Pac Man. It's like if Williams entertainment was like the Maui from moana, except much nicer.

And the worst part about this is that AtGames may have own Ms.Pac-Man but lost big time in it may as well be a vaporware as they cant make any money off of her as they cant use any Pac-Man or Ghost likeness in the arcade or handheld. What a huge mess.
