      8:06 Andre the thing with the Jurassic films is that the events of each one happens on the year of its release. If the movie is released on 2018 (Fallen Kingdom) then what you see happens (or happened earlier or latter) on that a year that's why it's odd.

    The plot really should've been about the social impact of dinosaurs. Imagine if the story focused on dinosaurs overtaking half of Maine; people ran in fear or died, raptors in a small town, a T-rex through a major metro with a slight nod to Godzilla. People blaming Claire and Owen for what happened, maybe going into this deserted area to rescue the girl who left on her own.

    They lowkey should have written DeWanda’s character as Ian Malcolm’s daughter from JP2. They could’ve framed it as she gave up on gymnastics due to injury in her teenage/college years, went into the Air Force, lost contact with her dad, then got out of the military and became a smuggler/mercenary, eventually crossing paths with the new cast and reuniting with her dad.

      The plot should have evolved around the dinos and humans failing to coexist with one another, and the dinos attacking civvies throughout the US city by city.
      What a waste of a film franchise. There's no need to introduce a selfish, stupid teenager with parenting problems. She was a spoilt brat which irritated the audience, and was somehow supposed to help others relate to her???

Jackson) is revealed to be alive and with both arms and Ellie Sattler is like, "Wait, you have both arms?" and Arnold says, "Yeah, why shouldn't I?" and she says, "Well, I saw a severed black arm in the shed, so..." and he answers, "So you just assumed that it was mine?"

    after reading a good number of Crichton's novels, I want to give this discussion point, the point of Jurassic Park isn't about the dinosaurs, or about their scientific accuracy in the novels. the Point is about the worries of Unchecked Science gone rampant. the dinosaurs are just a medium for the horrible things that could go.
    instead of dinosaurs, the subject matter could be about genetically engineered roaches that feed on radiation but become hazardous to the world around them when they spread too far beyond control, or about Mosquitoes who are engineered to carry a super virus.
    the real danger within the novel Jurassic park is about the horror that could happen with unchecked, unrestrained genetic science. (edited)

    • @JPOG7TV

      It doesn't matter if the themes are there. Its how its executed which was done poorly in this film.

    • @gunshotlagoon922
      @gunshotlagoon922 Před 2 lety +1

      It's more than just that. It's using scientific knowledge for the sake of profit and merchandise. That's what the park represented, manipulating nature and technology to bring back popular extinct animals in order to create a grand tourist attraction. And of course something on such a scale goes wrong due to human flaw. Crichton was very specific with the ideas he chose for Jurassic Park. You can't simply use genetically engineered roaches or mosquitoes in this case.

    • @darkwoods1954
      @darkwoods1954 Před 2 lety +2

      A film about mosquitoes would never have captured the hearts and imaginations of the millions of people Jurassic Park did. You can't at this point make the franchise about locusts and cloned little girls and deny the importance of dinosaurs to the franchise and it's customer base.

    • @josephgibson5902
      @josephgibson5902 Před 2 lety +2

      More importantly, this movie fails Crichton's themes. This movie sets up with the premise "we screwed up playing God and now we have to live with the dinosaurs" but resolves the actual main plot with "we screwed up playing God with locusts but because this other lady played God with cloning we don't have to live with the locusts". Unchecked, unrestrained genetic science ends up being the solution to the problem. Though I believe the locust scheme and basic film characterization of the character are in line with book Dodgson, Crichton was somewhat concerned himself with exploring dinosaurs in the world (mystery in the opening about the escaped compys, ticking clock about the raptors on the ship) and would have probably gladly written a book where dinosaurs were in the mainland.

  • @akai1up

    • @jackhummer8344
      @jackhummer8344 Před 2 lety +11

      Dinosaurs could never cause an ecological disaster on the same scale as locusts. They're too big, too easily contained or monitored, and they breed too slowly. The locusts are small, they breed quickly, they can cover area quickly, and they can compete for the same food sources that humans can. Dinosaurs alone were never going to threaten the survival of humanity. But a engineered plague of locusts would, it's a more realistic threat and one that is in line with the themes of the franchise, especially the Crichton novels. The plot is also simpler because it gives a clear goal for the heroes.

    So accurate. They should have merged the two plots together and included the short film and prologue to fill in the extra time. E.g. Considering we have dinos walking around with us causing chaos wouldn't it make sense to have dinos killing our food supply? - this food dilema could just be part of the already occuring chaos. Then they could say biosin are trying to control and keep the dinosaurs alive but are secretly trying to have total artifical control over our ecosystem - they do this by exploiting the dinos and having them kill all our food. In the real movie the motive for the locusts isn't so clear other than just "oh it means they get more money because people have to buy food from them", this alternate plot would have a clearer secret intention for biosin and one which links way better to the big dilema of the whole film: the dinos impact on the environment. Biosin want environmental control whilst humanity is figuring out how to live in an environment with dinos. Having this plot instead of the weird locusts would flow on nicely from the short film and prologue which in this alternate universe, would have been shown at the start of the film. This way the two plots would have been merged and not fighting and we would get the "humans and dinos figuering out how to co-exist" film we all expected but this film would also have an engaging plot of people trying to peronsally gain from the situation by explotiation and beurocracy. This would also make the film be societally reflective just as the real film tried to be in parts.

    I think the locust plot works because of how much of Fallen Kingdom was talking about the genetic power that cloning dinosaurs represents. Yes, dinos in the world is a huge issue. So is the fact that a company can use that same science to create prehistoric bugs and engineer them to cripple the world's food supply. I'd even argue that the two plots do go hand in hand because really we should only have to deal with one world ending crisis at a time. Don't make the locusts eat everything, especially while we don't have a fix for people being eaten by dinosaurs

    Andre your thoughts on this film were similar to mine! Too be honest, it was more like three to four plots. The Legacy characters had theirs with the genetic mutation and locust. Then the newer cast had Mazzy or Masie however you say her name... get kidnapped along with baby Blue (Beta) for their DNA and connection to all of this. Now we have a story of Massie finding out whom she is and where she belongs. Then we gotta make sure Beta returns home to Blue. Then it's the genetic mutation story and so fourth... so I guess it's three plots. Anyway, Massie's part was okay at first but it lingered way too long! These plots started to divert from the essence of the Jurassic series. And although in books they refer to the genetic mutation with bugs, I just think the movie over did it.

  • @KetwunsGamingPad

    I feel like Biosyn Genetics plot was supposed to exemplify a bigger picture that the company's objectives are in genomics research which are to be "seeking groundbreaking pharmacological and agronomic applications." Pharmaceutically, they could use the genomics of dinosaurs and agronomically use the genomics of the locusts. The idea was to ultimately control the world's medicine and food. It's just that the movie shouldn't have really focused so much on the locusts for a movie where dinosaurs are supposed to be the main focus.
    I think Biosyn Genetics would be a fantastic villainous organisation for several different movies in-universe if it weren't just about dinosaurs, but I just think maybe thi isn't quite the right franchise to presume other applications without having the core focuses.

The second is Alan and Ellie investigating the locusts. Both end up at Biosyn where Maisie was taken, and where the evidence for the locusts are. The plot does not revolve around the dinosaurs at all m, basically they’re just background and obstacles. The dinosaurs in this movie play more of a hey look what dinosaurs we haven’t seen in other movies before like giganotosaurus therizenosaurus and a few others the dinosaurs are basically just there and don’t play any major role in driving the plot at all.

    My issue is that the introductions to Clair and Owen were overall unnecessary for the movie. Clair's was 100% unnecessary because there is only a minor references to it later on, all of which added nothing to the movie. And Owen's opening only serves to show how the bad guys found them, which could have been done with Maisie's opening. Have her actually be seen by the bad guy and followed home. It can be explained that they don't take her because they are also looking for Blue and her potential child.
    Malcolm working at Biosyn makes zero sense. Malcolm has throughout the series spoken out against the technology being used. I could see him coming over to see what is going on, but Malcolm would not have been hired by Biosyn. Now, Zia, a dinosaur vet could have been. But, Zia doesn't get the OGs into Biosyn. So, there would need to be some work, but it could have been done better.
    Also, the plot armor was so strong with the main cast. Like there are times I am like, what? Not even a scratch?

Really takes you out of it and breaks the immersion when they never feel like they're in real danger and it's just to get to the next scene.
