Thanks to @Minioncode for suggesting this video! Let me know down below what you'd like me to cover next! Video of the P2261 fix: • EASY Hyundai Veloster ...
this scares me lol maybe it's not all velosters but im buying a 2015 one turbo (Ill probably never use turbo so i might not run into the problems you did) but its good to know what to look out for
Your veloster is awesome!! I have exactly the same turbo model and also same color and same year!! Thanks for the video!! right now Im struggling with check engine light I think is because of boost issues and some other sensor that I need to check, I just installed a new turbo and it runs great, is just that here in my country veloster parts are really hard to find, Im also saving money right now for a scanner checkup and a stage 1 setup but the car for the moment runs great thanks for your advise I hope to get my check engine light off soon because I really love my veloster it was love at firts sight!!
Just had my fuel pump go out in my 2016 Turbo as of a few days ago. Was a bit more expensive than i thought it was going to be but it was an easy job at the very least. Great vid btw
I've had a 2016 turbo for 5.5 years, from about 26k to 104k miles. Issues: rear hatch lock replace, rear hatch hydraulic pistons replace, radio/nav head unit replace, code 2261 (it was the solenoid), airbag warning light stayed on (dealer 'reprogrammed'), replace starter, panoramic sunroof track and motor replace. Normal wear and tear: I just replaced the tires I got 5.5 years ago (Michelins, amazing tires), two batteries, brake job, replace trans fluid, and spark plugs, as well as oil changes of course. The sunroof track assembly was the most aggravating as it wasn't covered by manufacturer warranty but I had a 3rd party warranty and it was covered, which is good because it was over $7000. The bad part was the dealer had four redos and the job ultimately took a year to get right! Hyundai eventually had to fly engineers out to set up laser straightening equipment to match the factory specs. I had a loaner car for 5 months in a row, possibly a record. The dealer told me under his breath that the engineers told him basically when you cut a huge hole in the roof, the frame will get distorted. The mounting points for the sunroof assembly had to be bent back into true. So far it's working now (knock on wood).
You have to reset the radio unit. My veloster had thus problem and luckily for me i worked at a tunjng shop and my old boss had a Veloster. There memory gets filled up when using the sat nav and other things as it saves everything. You need a pin to press and hold into the little reset botton nexr to cd player and it resets. I think uou have to hild it for 10+ seconds
i've had a 2016 VT since september and I love the crap out of it so far. My only real issue is there's something causing it to idle down very low randomly, and when i give it gas it'll stumble if it's at that low idle before picking back up. Makes my amplifier shut down, my lights dim, and the most annoying part is it makes my belt start squealing. That's more embarrassing than anything, cuz it's such a good looking car, clean, orange, then the belt squeals and EVERYONE is now looking at you. I'm about to slap a 60mm elantra throttle body on it though and then maybe i can do a little light tuning to keep the RPM's steady at idle.
Mine did the same thing all the time especially when I turned on the ac I’m not having problems with my clutch actuator it could have something to do with that.
Thanks I'll take a look at that! My brother in law thinks I might just be pulling too much power from the unit because of the charger I have connected to the cigarette lighter spot
my wife has a 2015 turbo veloster started leaking fuel... Replaced the fuel pump 3 times already to run into the same issue. Car goes in a weird limp mode and shuts off no check engine light or anything
To my knowledge 2016 actually has stronger connecting rods. Some tuners were having issues with connection rods from 2013 - 2015. So Hyundai reinforced them for 2016. That being said they are usually a bit more reliable.
Love the vid keep up w the content. Don’t see too many nice and clean Veloster builds on yt. Love it
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Loved the vid man, got my own manual turbo!
Good video. I’ve just bought a 2014 turbo SR. This video helps with what to look out for. Also yours is clean look
Thanks man!

I’m thinking about buying a 2013 VT manual are they still good in 2024?
@@boedenroy8009 reliability wise is iffy. Just don't buy a clapped put one. I'd try to get one with less than 130,000 miles

Hey man I have a 2012 veloster and my ac just stopped working, some people say it’s the ac knob but wanted to ask another veloster driver 🙏

That sounds super strange. Haven't heard of anyone else dealing with that. Let me know how that throttle body works out!
Mine did the same thing all the time especially when I turned on the ac I’m not having problems with my clutch actuator it could have something to do with that.
The lag could be MAP sensor PCV valve PCV sensor. All very cheap and relatively easy fixes.
My crankshaft position sensor went bad and this happened to me it doesn’t throw a code because the ecu gets confused apparently
hey! im looking at a 2017 r-spec and was curious to know about turbo problems in the 2nd gens? or things the 17s are known for?
im probably a little late but with the radio it might be audio 2 or multimedia fuse i had a similar issue
Thanks I'll take a look at that! My brother in law thinks I might just be pulling too much power from the unit because of the charger I have connected to the cigarette lighter spot

what do you think of the 2016 model i just got 1 yesterday i love itttttttt
Congrats! Not so sure the differences between those years, other than the guages and suspension stiffness

My 2016 Verloster with no problems on my channel
and what miles you have now ?
I'm about around 116k mi
My Hyundai veloster I thought handicap stickers was for people, not cars
hopefully ur oil cooler gasket doesn't go. youll have to buy the entire assembly cuz hyundai doesn't sell the gasket. very annoying lol
Oof! No thank you. That's kind of like the positive lead for the battery. Hyundai will only sell you the whole cable... for like $370 🙃
@@johnyeschickjr damn i hope that doesnt happen
