As someone who grew up struggling to be heard... even struggling to be heard now as an adult. This hits me right in the feels. Not being heard or believed hurts, especially when it is the people who should have the most reason to care what you have to say. And yes, you do just give up, because if nothing you say gets heard, what is there left to do? I remember watching this episode and I litterally cried for that boy. I'm so glad Supernanny helped him and his family.

Yes. And it's the small things that build up the trust. I was bullied at school, but I never told my parents how bad it was because they didn't really listen. Now I'm almost 30 and they really want to know how it was for me, but I won't tell because not telling them is easier than experiencing their dismissal again. Thankfully I'm an adult now, I have myself plus people who I choose to trust.
