  • I have been experimenting with DIY nickel plating. It can all be done using household items and can give good results for little money.
It's a great way to renew classic car parts on a budget.
Let me know how you do and if you have any questions please ask.

if you have good adhesion 1 hour of plating will be strong. I tried to remove it and had to use 240 grit paper for awhile.

That's interesting, I'll try that when I do more plating.

Subbed and liked! I had great success with copper. But brass ? Negative goes black and gunky! I clean the surface spotless but it literally won't stick? I'm now making nickel sulfate as I'm watching your videos. Any reply appreciated cheers from Australia! 🙂👍👍👍.

Thank you for liking and subscribing! I need to go back and experiment again as I enjoyed making it. Let me know how your sulfate turns out.

Everytime I plate, whether copper, zinc or nickel it looks great until it gets wet, then the substrate rusts and comes through the plating. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

      Thumbs down to you too!
It was approximately 500ml of vinegar and a half table spoon of salt, voltage as I stated was 5V but not sure on amps. I did forget to state how much witchcraft was used though...
I also think your caps lock is broken!
      Thanks
