In Italy he had some difficulties in adapt to Italian Serie A and Inter at the time never had one of its best sides, nevertheless they managed to win an UEFA CUP with fellow dutchman Wim Jonk in the side; it was at Arsenal instead that Dennis Bergkamp played the best football of his career....as an assist man and as a finisher he was world class.
Why is he underrated??? Everybody knows, he's one of the best. A underrated player doesn't have a career like he had. He was a genius.

The greatest two touches in football history, left foot spin, right foot goal, i was there up the other end with the rest of the Arsenal fans and none of us including me knew how he did what he did. Some so called expert pundits suggested at the time it was luck but now they all agree it was a defining moment of artistry in football. So glad i was there. Thank you Dennis for all the great memories, me and i am sure all Arsenal fans will never ever forget you.

Yes that goal at :55 seconds is unbelievable. The orange-ish glow on the screen makes it almost euphoric. That celebration is next level, best play ever.
There is no player who is as intelligent as Bergkamp. He passes defenders with no chance to recover. He gives assists as gift wrapped presents from heaven. His shot has accuracy of a laser, the power of a bomb, and the finesse of the wind.

Cruijff was considered best Dutch player all time, but he was my father's generation, I've never seen him play live, in his prime.

He's the very reason I came about supporting Arsenal as a little boy, there was just something that got to me about him. Yes, Thierry Henry is the all time goal scorer of Arsenal, but Bergkamp is my all time favorite when it comes to comparison.

As an arsenal fan for 40 years I loved Charlie george then liam Brady then some time after that came Anders limper watching Anders thought I would never injoy anyone more than that I also as any arsenal fan did loved Henry and viera but bergkamp was different there was always a feeling that you were watching areal perfectionist at work might not be alot of people's choice as best footballer ever but deserves to have his name in the conversation

I've been a gunner since 1971 and Chippy Brady was my favourite player until Dennis graced our club. Now they share the honour with Dennis just shading it if your gonna force me to choose.

I am not an Arsenal fan, but I am here speaking as a fan of football. Thank Arsenal for bringing him over to the Premier league, thank Bergkamp for bringing his level of elegance, artistry and skills to the league. He was definitely one of a kind, and we will probably not see someone with qualities like his in the league for years to come. Arsenal was lucky to have had such a wonderful and loyal player at the club. He is a true legend and will forever be embedded into the hearts of all the Arsenal fans and the club's footballing history.

Something about the way he used to weight those through balls... almost like he was directing the finish too. They would just sort of demand to be hit first time, two touches max, and they didn't leave Henry/Ljungberg/whoever with a lot to think about or do. Most of his assists are just as beautiful as the goals.
This video gives me the chills. And i'm not even an Arsenal fan. But if you are a football lover, you have to admit Dennis Bergkamp was one of those players who graced it. What a player... Miss this premier league. Tough teams, great players.
I was privileged enough to watch Dennis in his prime live. We knew he was good, but 20 years later you just can't help but admire his genius. I told my mate in 2004, that it doesn't get any better than this. Dennis was an integral part of the early Wenger dynasty, what a shame that dynasty fell apart. This team with Dennis in it was probably the best side not to win the Champions League.
As a united fan since 1992-1991 can't remember when.. used to have the sharp kit I was born to support them, but in the 90s I was in awe over bergkamp and overmars... I loved Oasis and this cover is magical grouped with this montage of Bergkamp, anyone who asks who's the best technically gifted striker send them to this.. deserves more views!

Really love the goal at 2:37 simply because who in todays football would try anything like that. A clear cut chance like that, almost everyone in football would either let it go across their body and get a shot away with the left foot or knock it past the defender and shoot but not Bergkamp, he already knew what he was going to do before he even got into the box.
