Not Premier League, but just re-read the story of Bert Trautman in the 1956 FA Cup final. A German POW that stayed in England after being spotted for his GK skills. He met a girl, settled down and played for Man City. He played in goal for the 1956 FA Cup final against Birmingham City, winning 3-1. With 17 mins to go, he received a knee to the face, causing his neck to go limp. In the days of no subs, he played til the end, winning and celebrating. A few days later, he goes to the doctor with a "sore neck", only to be told he'd broken his neck during the collision. 💥

Born and raised in Germany, had their healthcare, school and other public services paid for by the German tax payer and they travel using a German passport. Now we have 4th and 5th generation of Germans with turkish descent it becomes kind of insulting to claim that they're turks (in the sense of citizenry not ethnically) while turkey doesn't owe them sh*t. I could say the same for French players with African descent.

@@tweetworse6736 so why does turkey not have players with their abilities in their team? Is it a coincidence that the probably the two best "turkish" players were trained and raised in germany? even Çalhanoğlu was born there.
