Some are just overwhelmed and they rush into it just to get over the moment. The pressure is crazy at any level. I know I score a penalty in my highschool final and I was so relieved that nothing else mathered.. I would have very different memories with that moment if we would have lost because of my miss haha But we won and it was bliss haha I am a midfielder, I went for bottom right corner.. keepers cannot go with their hands that low and it's impossible to get your feet there... but it is very easy to miss trying to go for that. bro, it is very hard... midfielders try to hit the side net low corner.. strikers try to hit it hard.... some looks the keeper in the eyes, some try to avoid their eyes... Some are just overwhelmed and they rush into it just to get over the moment. The pressure is crazy at any level. I know I score a penalty in my highschool final and I was so relieved that nothing else mathered.. I would have very different memories with that moment if we would have lost because of my miss haha But we won and it was bliss haha I am a midfielder, I went for bottom right corner.. keepers cannot go with their hands that low and it's impossible to get your feet there... but it is very easy to miss trying to go for that. People hate Baggio for this because he should have never over do it like that. He had too much confidence and ruined it for everybody. Ego got the best of him.

Guys we all italian consider Baggio the best italian player ever by far! He scored 5 gols in Usa94, leading singlehandly Azzurri to final. Baggio scored penalty in Italy90 world cup in semifinal against Argentina of Diego. He scored in France98 penalty against Chile. He scored 9 gols in three world cup. He was a sublime player, the best top three player on 90ies. He was 1993 ballon d'Or, he was second in 1994. And after 30 years he still don't forget himself for that penalty.

He had amazing dribbling skills, passing, vision, IQ, played as a No. 10 and 9 at the same time basically, all the while when he was getting mistreated by managers and having fans turn their backs on him and still playing despite being injured throughout most of his career. Just imagine him playing in that World Cup without being injured. In my opinion, he is the greatest Italian footballer of all time.

Looking back on it now, Italy didn’t deserve to win that World Cup. The fact that they could cheer Baggio as he carried them through the tournament and against one of the best international sides ever, still played well and one mistake, they act as though he was the worst player in the world and he deserves to be shamed is absolutely ridiculous. And the way some of the Italian clubs and fans treat some of their best players, it’s a lesson many still haven’t learnt.
