- The 42-year-old driver who allegedly caused the fatal multi-vehicle crash in Tampines has been arrested for dangerous driving causing death. His driving licence has been suspended. Eight people were taken to hospital, including the driver of a black car which was seen on various online videos crashing into other vehicles at high speed. Two people subsequently died. Police say the driver was discharged from hospital on Apr 24 and subsequently arrested. Alxis Thng reports.

Should be jail sentence for the rest of his life .
That is not for us to decide. Feelings is one thing, what is rational may be different.
Generally I find it better, if the victims or their families are supported, and the culprit could do something to help with that.
I would like to hear what caused the man driving so erratic, ignoring a red-light, and driving fully frontal into oncoming traffic.
What for? And waste taxpayer's money to support him.
It won't unless if it's drug related cases. Singapore law. 😂
@@lep1792 What makes me sometimes upset is, if someone's touches a woman at the butt he might go 2 years behind bars. If a driver kills someone, it's dangerous driving. Normally it's then "lost control" or "speeding". As if it happened as a kind of undesired result of some mistake.
they say they got medical condition how to jail?
Court should charge him under culpable homicide and not reckless driving!
if the family of the deceased and affected families those cannot afford to file a lawsuit against this driver - we should all pool together a crowdfund and engaged a lawyer on behalf of the affected families to file a lawsuits against this driver. the perpetrator ALWAYS survive and the innocent ones perish, I don't understand the science behind this
Falken world
Well in this case it's likely because the front of the car acts as a crumple zone, absorbing some impact, so the driver survived, while the cars that he smashed into got whacked from the side, which is more or less just the car door protecting the passenger. Driver also has front airbags, while passengers may or may not have had any on the side.

The real science is by Swedish inventor Nils Bohlin developing for Volvo. But for the unproven science, you need to question Allah / Jesus / guanyinma when you have the chance. Sadly in this very world, evil people tend to live longer than the average.
But the perpetrator lives a lifetime of guilt.
Caused deaths, damage to numerous vehicles, emotion trauma, lost of abilities to work, serious major traffic holdup, etc. I don't think suspend driving license will do. Shall wait for proper sentencing.
What the about the Merc driver who indirectly contributed by purposely accelerating due to ego and helping to increase the speed of the Saab.. he also tailgated dangerously behind a bike.. he should be charged and get off the road too before someone gets killed...

He must be charged with 2 counts of culpable homicide and receive maximum penalty of 20 years for each count as he was totally reckless and had no regard for other human beings

Yes, terror act should receive heavy punishment
Here is my analysis: i think he was looking at the rear view mirror to check on the merc. He did not see the red light. That was the problem. He was not trying to beat it - the lorry was already stationary at the traffic junction, which meant the light had been red for a while. He was speeding away from the merc to avoid detection, likely because he already has a record of prior traffic rule violations.
The driver should be charged for culpable homicide
Totally agree
Life imprisonment w/o parole + 12 strokes of cane
I hope the law can be even more stricter in this respect. R.i.p. to these innocent victims
Evil male driver .Justice need to be served with max sentence and vehicle confiscated too
Just curious, why is the public so eager to know the name of the perpetrator? Shouldnt they just be concerned that he must be punished accordingly to the law if he is found guilty. As such, there is no need to disclose his name as it is not a necessary information that the public need to know. the only information that people need to know is that justice is served and the perpetrator answers for his crime.
-
Seem to me, some people in the public require the name is because of their hidden agenda such as to either criticise the govt of their policies (if he is a foreigner) or harass and shame the perpetrator and his family (some people are such petty and have all the time of the world to do such things).
Or spread their “minority” bs
This is for record keeping and decision-making. The name has clues to profiles. Sometimes stereotypical, may be partly accurate sometimes but not all the time. Yes the reason is to criticise the gov, because undoubtedly one of the cause is Capitalism ! Why is it that Singapore still has not implemented vehicular manslaughter law yet? The idea of punishment and penalties is also to act as a deterrent. Unfortunately such deterrents are already bordering on just merely "a slap on the wrist" in current society/environment. Many drivers and road users nowadays are more willing to take the risk of speeding or breaking the laws, knowing that the most they get is probably just a few months in Changi, or fine and banned from driving.... provided that they get caught. And let's not forget Singapore 2/3 remission terms... In other words, It's losing its effectiveness and no longer serve as an effective deterrent in current society and environment. Our laws and penalties need to be updated accordingly, not just increasing jail term length or increasing fine amount. Start with enacting vehicular manslaughter bill into our current legislation. This is not the first, nor will it be the last we hear of errant speeding drivers and other road users making the news. Not too long ago, we have 2 other accident news, 1 of a driver knocking over a student at a zebra crossing within a school zone. Another of a lorry knocking down 2 students. In addition, our government also wants to control the vehicle population right? Then adopt a multi prong approach.... Its not just about the reducing COE quota or increasing road taxes and ERP. Enact stricter law and implement vehicular manslaughter bill as well. Make driving unappealing, too rigid/strict and not so cost effective so that ppl will think twice about driving. Imagine the amount of land we'll get back from reducing our road network and what they can be used for in future...
