      I've been subbed for a while. He was just a kid when I started watching. What I like best about this channel is that unlike Red Beard's Garage and Rather B Welding, Vasily's projects are mostly 2-strokes. Still, all three are great subs for watching small engine builds and buggy fabrication. Grind Hard Plumbing is good too (Don't let the name fool you, there's no plumbing done over there), but they take it to a whole other level. That's where you go to see the really crazy stuff.

    You won't let that pillow block slip, this time.
    Saying that 3 min in.
    I saw a video awhile ago of a guy who built a Mopar Hemi dragster back in the 60s and he didn't have the resources so he narrowed the rear end , axles and all, by cutting it with a hacksaw and welding it together with an oxyacetylene torch . It worked .
    So that's the meaning of dedication .
    I worked in a machine shop that shortened driveshafts a lot. Pretty surprising how much stress they'll take if everything is aligned.
    I'm looking forward to seeing this in action and your 3 cyl dragster too !

  • @TommyAlanRaines
    @TommyAlanRaines Před rokem +5

    Personally I would have made brackets to bolt the drive-shaft cover on to the floor, so that way it would be fully removable and wouldn't have to cut the floor out. You still did a great job though. Looking forward to seeing more on this build.

    • @TommyAlanRaines
      @TommyAlanRaines Před rokem +1

      @@infesting Yes, however you have to lift up the buggy to access it, with an uncut floor and removable top cover/shield that's held on with a few bolts you don't have to lift the buggy up or try to crawl under it.

    Make sure you offset the motor an 1/8" forward of the secondary clutch. This allows for the torque twist those motors produce. Cool build! I have a polaris clutch alignment tool if you need one. I'd be happy to send it to ya.

    • @VasilyBuilds
      @VasilyBuilds  Před rokem +1

      Yeah I have room on Jackshaft to slide the secondary back, but I can also use a adjustable rod to the starter holes to keep it from twisting

      @thenorthshore6472 Před rokem

      @@VasilyBuilds I'll dig it out after work tonight. It's for any polaris using the P85 Clutches. Should definitely work on that set-up. The secondary stays square to the drive but the motor is set with an 1/8" deflection and a torque-stop limits the twisting. If not it'll never shift out properly and burn up belts.

    You did clock the U joints so that they are in exact alignment I hope, otherwise they're likely to bind under load.
    Also seriously consider adding more support to your drive shaft tunnel, because that thing comes loose it's gonna be beating that light gauge metal to shreds in matter 😂seconds.
    If possible build a couple flat metal bands to go around it that tie directly into something solid.
    Examples similar to what NHRA regires for it's safety inspection, are any other automotive racing sanctions.
    Safety is what saves lives in cases such as this, and not a safety nut, but you have two seats.
    They're safety is on you as the builder and driver both.
